What happened, am I going nuts?

So, am I just nosy or reflective? :/

I think that you answered this question in this post;

He does have one very important point. This being a form of communication where the subleties of conversation are not present, it takes longer to know the intent or nature of the person or the person's statement. I suggest that the quote " By their fruits..." be kept in mind with all newcomers.

... And while I'm at it, whats this confusion about their and there? Many a english speaking forumite seem to have this problem. It confuses me too, especially when I see it written by one native to the language.

These errors are so common because spell-check doesn't catch them. Same with my pet peeve, 'loose' for 'lose'.

Hehe, yeah I've seen the loose one. But there speaks of a condition or direction:

"There are a lot of people online." "The book is over there on the bookshelf."

And their is possessive:

"Their house is clean."

If you don't use a noun then their becomes theirs:

"Theirs is clean." you wouldn't say "Theirs house is clean."

Then you have they're which is "they are", but that doesn't seem to be confused.

fwiw

EDIT: More clarity on the their/theirs:

Their is a possessive adjective. It modifies a noun: "their house", "their dogs", etc.

Theirs is a possessive pronoun. It is used without a noun: "these books are theirs".

So their will come before the noun and theirs will come after the noun.

One really has to be careful to distinguish between an "authority" and a reflective network.

How do you distinguish such things, Azur? You appear to making obscure blanket comments again that may not actually apply to the situation at hand. I noticed you've done the same thing in Aya's thread about Japan. Is there a reason for this?

Hell of a question. Generally speaking, where/how/when does one know internally, in their daily dealings, the difference between sharing what they've found and advising others because of what they've found?

Somebody here will say: "That's easy! Only answer when they ask!". Sure, but that's doctrinaire, and simplistic. There are subtleties involved when you look. But then who knows who can see? I don't know.

Not so much a blanket statement, it was a heat of the thread/moment thing. I thought it was going to devolve. Reading it now, it's lost a lot of the 'flavor' of momentum of that particular time.

As for Aya's thread (she's decided what to do, I'm glad to see), I'm frankly surprised at you, and Mr. Premise.

Is this a hold over from something else?

Then perhaps it's time for you to learn to stop posting 'in the heat of the moment' - it has been years now, of having this pointed out to you with no change on your part. This is telling.

Why would you be surprised at people pointing out to you when you are being obtuse, rude and generally unhelpful, posting for yourself and not others. This, as I mention above, has gone on for years now, with no improvement on your part. I think 'surprised' would be the last thing you would be.

Anart, did you notice that people in general, and some on this forum, are becoming more course in there speech and writtings. I am beginning to wonder if the changes in various viberations due to the coming Wave is affecting people in general...In the late 1990s the Cs made a comment that this might happen...hope all reflect on that and calm down...

Yes, we've noticed this for a while now. The C's did mention that some would disintegrate as the Wave approaches, as others advanced - so this appears to be exactly what is happening - in some cases it appears to be subtle and transitory, in others, it appears to be drastic and permanent. We'll see where it goes from here (as we always do)...
