What is a good alternative to facebook?

The Living Force
Laura's recent thing with facebook has got me to thinking about the forum figuring out an alternative together that we can basically all go to. I noticed that Laura joined "seen" i think it is? The one i have always wondered about is "tsu" , which apparently pays it members based on posts, etc with the money they generate through advertizing. Is it really that simple?
Here is the site: -https://www.tsu.co/

Here is a video explaining it: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CeFY7E7GMQ

And another: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_s1p5NopSA

I am curious as to what others think, and which one they would pick. Without knowing much about it, this would be my choice so far.

In the beginning of this year I was all in Tsu. Great idea! Even a made article about it. It is on Croatian, so I don't think that you could not use.

As Laura say:"There is no free lunch in Universe... no salvation without WORK" that could also be applied to all social network that I know (Site talk, Ello) and specially Tsu. If you wanna earn some money you will probably have some problem with your hand because of all the clicking you have to do to earn a cent. Or you could be some kind of king, prince and have thousand and thousand followers which brings you money. It is old and the well known marketing trick to make a fool of you. Also, they don't follow their own rules. Allowing sexual pictures and even perverse what is supposedly forbidden. I can prove you this because you have to be member of Tsu to see and for that you can sign up from my link or directly on Tsu. If you sign up from my link you will be in my family tree but don't worry even they said that is important to build you family tree I will not get even a cent for you sign up from my link. Just a waste of time.
So, my opinion is that Tsu is not good for any good thing.

What about the newly launched Minds?

Perhaps someone on the forum who knows about social media, about this kind of technology (and its true aims!) could look into it:

Cassiopaea Forum is a good alternative to Facebook.
Perhaps you could encourage all your Facebook friends to join this one.

i think it would be difficult.
Maybe for us it is but its not really the same thing.
Plus would that really be a good thing? There would be an awful lot of noise to sift through.

Why do you think this, MusicMan? This forum is not a social networking service as FB is. This is a fairly serious forum for research on many different things as well as doing The Work. We don't advocate encouraging people to join this forum as most people are not ready for things that we discuss here. We've found that when they are ready, people find us. We have also found that trying to get people to read this forum does more harm than good because if they are not familiar with some of the concepts we are familiar with, it will drive them away and they could - and some have - go on the attack. It could also make them think that the person who wanted them to come onto the forum is nuts. We've seen it happen.

I don't know if there is really a good alternative to FB for what we want to do as a group.

FB being the most popular social media, it gives us a wide audience and help us to achieve what we want: Spread the truth while making of sott.net(for many languages) the best source of info.

So, as for everything there are plus and minus and we have to evaluate if the minus exceed the plus.

What I get from this is that this Forum does not want outsiders to come here by invitation, they are supposed to 'find' it on their own (as I did).
I also get that there is a need to find another forum which can absorb our members in case this Forum is closed down or has some other misfortune befall it.

I think that, rather than encouraging an "insider"- "outsider" distinction, the really meaningful difference pointed to by the policy is on 'motivation' - whether or not a new member is here of their own choice or is here because their motivation is 'imposed' on them by some influence other than their own volition. In the latter case, can one really trust anything that flows from that, even when the joiner believes themself to have the best of intentions? I don't think so, but I don't know for sure.

The difference above may be subtle, but even subtle differences can ramify our thought patterns and help us learn something new. :)

I agree with this, FB, IMO, is something we have to deal with because of its size and reach.

It could be similar to this "why not just create our own internet? we can roll out our cables so none can hack us", but most of us wouldn't have found the info if it wasn't for the internet, or FB for more recent members, as it is a major source of incoming traffic.

I tend to use FB mostly as an information hub, both incoming and outgoing information, but little actual social items. For that we could go someplace else as suggested.

I agree totally. Facebook is good because we can share information to many people. That's the objective. The reason. Tsu is not bad and it can be an alternative, a side, why not. There are a lot of people in Tsu but not as many as in Facebook, for now. Facebook is a medium, not more than that. There are the pros and contras as in everything.

It does not appear fully operational yet, members are mostly inactive, waiting for the kick off perhaps.
The system causes too much problems when posting, editing etc.

Seen.is appears much better in that sense and there are over 100k people right now. The system is somewhat slow which the developers explain by running tests before launching an upgrade version very soon.

I share SOTT articles on Facebook and I agree that it's a good way to promote SOTT and get ideas out into the mainstream that people might not otherwise get exposed to. The problem with other media platforms is that while they might be good places for Forum members to share ideas, unless the platform has a high profile, we are just going to be talking to ourselves. OSIT.

I agree with you about that FB part but have a feeling that the seen.is thing might actually bring new people to sott very soon. Already noticed newcomers there checking my profile. There will be a gradual exodus from FB and more people looking for answers, connections, hoping to find some like-minded people. It is worth keeping building the base there and see what happens, imho.

Could SOTT become similar to Facebook or Twitter.... SOTT staying as it is, but with the additional features similar to Facebook or twitter, members having a SOTT page, though I don’t have anything to do with Facebook and all that stuff... so don’t know what’s involved with that, just putting it out there.
Probably giving some network technicians/coders palpations... sorry guy’s
