What's going on with airports?

I've done some searching after witnessing a bizzare event in Croatia.
49 people called in sick one the same day costing the Airline quite a bit of money.
After which an investigation was started, which is of course reasonable.
But it turned out that their missing out on work was justified, only 1 person seemed
to be faking it out of 49.

17/18 May - French CityJet Pilot strike.
May 16 - Greek Air Traffic Controllers to strike.
May 16 - Pilot strike at Augsburg Airways
May 15 - Croatia Airlines Strike still on.
May 15 - Turkish Airlines Strike.
May 13 - Belgium Brusssels Zaventem and Charleroi airports baggage handlers strike.
May 13 - Linate airport and Malpensa airports to be hit by airport worker strike for 24 hours.
May 10 - Tunisair ground crews strike
May 08 - Wideroe cabin crew strike grounds flights in Norway
May 03 - Around 100 Unite members who work for a cleaning firm at Manchester Airport voted in favour of the 24-hour strike
