The Living Force
Dylan said:What happens when we die?
I think your answer was great. When I asked that question when I was young, I was told it depended on how I lived my life. If I was good and saved, heaven awaited. If I was wicked, eternal damnation awaited. From that I contemplated the idea of eternity... my body rejected the idea that anything could last forever and ever and ever. Your answer was better than the mainstream religion answer or the atheist answer (poof, nothing).
Personally, if it were me asked that question, I would answer by asking the person what they thought happened. Mainly because there is no right/wrong answer as well, no one knows and what may happen to one person may not happen to another... who knows? We would then discuss the different schools of thought. Ultimately I think the aim should be for the person to come to a conclusion they are personally comfortable with, the conclusion that has meaning to them. Death is an intimate thing and someone should be comfortable with the meaning it holds to them personally OSIT. It's also ok not to know... a lot of people are very uncomfortable with not-knowing, they much prefer to fill the gap with lies.
