Hey All

I was just wondering what kind of work cross section we have on the forum, what do you guys do for a living?

All work can be The Work, so let's hear what you do in everyday life on the paper trail, who knows you might be surprised how many others share you current profession.

I work as a bartender/barista - slinging coffee and booze, that's my job.

I'm an engineer by education, but in the here and now I run an office/editor/pay bills and do invoicing, and I've been a bartender in the past too - never been in sales, though - although I did do a lot of retail.

I detail automobiles for a living. Before that I did customer service for a bank. That was a soul crusher!

I am an illustrator (the kind who uses a computer to make illustrations.)

To quote Henrik Drescher "Since the beginning I have worked for myself, I hire myself to make pictures that don’t sell. Once in a blue moon someone calls and actually pays me for a picture, I guess this is called illustration. "

I work in the rodent toxicology section of a medical research facility

I'm a freelance journalist/editor dealing with text and video. No 'hardcore newsgathering'. Background articles, interviews, reviews for a paper magazine or two, but mostly for our beloved internet. To NOT have some ponerized boss around for almost 5 years, might be the most enlightening experience in my life till now.

Btw. atreides, you forgot to mention your own profession ;)

I work in a small family company, as a Delphi/database developer.
I develop applications for use in regional drug treatment, and for use in treatment of colon cancer and crohn's disease.

Right now I'm a nanny. I also teach knitting and do assembly, corrections and repairs on new and antique garments.

I’m not working at the moment. But my main occupation was electrician working down a coal mine in south Yorkshire for 30 years, working mainly at the coal face and developments.
As you can imagine though, a job like that didn’t entail just fiddling with a few wires. A lot of manual stuff often involved, in a dirty and potentially dangerous environment.
But hey, it sounds worse than it actually is.
