When looking at Earth...

When looking in the direction of Earth from the Orion constellation does the constellation one is looking at look like the star trek symbol (the one they wear on their shirts with the star in the middle)?

I half expect to be ignored on this one, but I had to ask.

I suggest you download this simulation software, http://www.stellarium.org, see for yourself and maybe share the results?

Where did you get this idea from?

I don't think Stellarium lets you look towards earth from other places. I know Celestia does though.

edit: apparently it does (I'll have to ask my son if he's done that!)

I also was interested how our sun looks like from other star directions.

Yes, Stellarium don't lets you to look toward Eath from other places, it only lets you to look toward Earth from other planets of solar system and their satellites.
Here is the link to Celestia softwrehttp://www.shatters.net/celestia/download.html
You can look toward the Earth from other constellations.
Thanks to Data and Bluelamp. The both programs are fantastic

Try to use Celestia program.
If you want to look toward the Earth from Orion, you can write into 'go to ' option the name of one of the Orion constellation stars.
Here you can see how they are named http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Orion_IAU.svg

I'll give the Celestia program a go.

I got the idea when I woke up one morning, that's all.

The logic goes that Star Trek is real and Gene Roddenberry channeled it from space, and the reason they wear it on their shirts is because it lets everybody know where they're from.

Alright I got the Celestia program and I went to Rigel and Saiph and Alnilam and Mintaka, and it looks like a nice place. However, I can't figure out how to look in the direction of the sun, I even tried reading the controls and stuff.

Any ideas?

I figured it out (sorry for the last post) I pressed 'H' then 'C'

Anyways I couldn't see anything that looked like the Star Trek symbol from any of the 8 stars in orion. I saved the pictures, but I dunno if I can post them on this place for y'all to look at 'cause I can't figure it out...

You see then why it is important to check the information before posting. One must use critical thinking and not swallow any rumors that circulate on the internet.

Edit: correction

True, lesson learned, I'm still glad I asked the question though.

However, I didn't hear it on the internet, I woke up with the thought a few years ago.

You've also gotta account for the fact that since the brain is an electromagnetic device, and we are basically swimming in electromagnetic pollution, any number of "stuff" can be picked up by it, and interpreted by it as coming from itself while the true source lies elsewhere, without adequate self knowledge, it is wise to take anything it generates with a grain of salt.
