Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Could I assume that since everything is "engineered" in the physical
that I can say the answer to this riddle is: "The Chicken"? :P

Logic tells me: Engineer the Chicken first then add "the program"
to allow the 'female' to self-engineer the egg when the 'seed' is
planted.

Extension of this riddle could possibly include this statement:

Which came first, Adam or Eve?

Answer: Eve?

I agree with both of you, strangely. The birthing of the original of any particular species is indeed a paradoxical conundrum of massive proportions.
