Why do we buy books and not read them?

This is a short reflection on why some of us have this habit of buying books that we don't read, and that we probably never will due to lack of years of life. So why do we have this habit?

He left out a reason. The vast majority of books I get on Amazon are books I have zero interest in reading. I want to throw the algorithm off. And judging on Amazon's recommendations I am doing a pretty good job :).
