Why You Should Care About the Psychology of Disgust

Good to get thinking on this. Thanks Bud.

I understand that disgust is a physical expression but aren't many expressions of disgust learned behaviors and subjective?.

Disgust is one of those feelings that once I would have made effort to curb under the programing that it was a subjective judgement value placed on something or someone. It is obvious to me now that I was conditioned by succumbing to information (COINTERPOL) that appealed to me at the time because of it's "nice" value, and a way to sooth and cope with the feelings of discomfort I was experiencing from living in a society that was incompatible with my inner radar.

I've grown quite fond of the word lately: I'd quite like the idea of a bumper sticker reading "If you're not disgusted you're not paying attention" :/

I have noticed how people can be both attracted to and repelled by something or someone at the same time. Could this be a form of cognitive dissonance caused by the real self trying to emerge?
This phenomena might be understood by relating it to Stockholm Syndrome?

I don't remember where I read it but I thought Ouspensky, quoting G, once said that ,"..most expressions of revulsion/disgust were artificial and had to do with the ego and identification." [paraphrased]

I guess everything in 3D can be revealed as ultimately artificial from the highest point of objective, or spiritual view, when/if all is stripped back, and the veil omitted. But we still are here, in 3D, so we work via the 3D interface that we are presented with.

Oh.... and by the way.... The State of Israel disgusts me.

Now that's why we should care about the psychology of disgust. It takes a bit of confidence to use it this way in public, but that's the very idea!

Thanks for making my day Harold! :)

Glad for it Bud, my sentiments towards many of your postings... :)

I think nearly all governments , except a few remote tribal type governments, Are DISGUSTING.:barf:

i just finished reading 1984 by George Orwell today. Kinda goes along the same lines of thought control being perpetrated on us now. Amazing book for it's time.

Sharon Osborne disgusts me.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vcpaMVwW-M

As does the View and it's TV audience.

The View is imbedded in this video and begin at 0.42 Sharon's comments are at 2.08.

Quite fabulous.

Couldn't find the video on it's own, apologies.

Quote by iloveyellow," I've grown quite fond of the word lately: I'd quite like the idea of a bumper sticker reading, "If you're not disgusted you're not paying attention"". :rotfl:
I used to have an almost identical idea for a bumper sticker, "If you are not disgusted , I don't trust you". :cool2:

*thanks Bud, Sorry for the mistake iloveyellow. Fixed

Actually, I think that quote should be attributed to iloveyellow. ;)
I think I'll steal it though, when she's not looking. And maybe yours too!
