Just recently, I became aware of the fact that this month --August 2014-- marks the 75th anniversary of the launch of the feature film Wizard of Oz.

According to the source, it had its premiere on August 12, 1939 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and was launched in the wider USA (Hollywood on the 15th, New York City on the 17th, elsewhere on the 25th) and also in Greece (August 15) and Canada (August 21) in that same month.

Many happy returns! :perfect:

Yup, happy anniversary to TWoOZ! The original and best (not the bleh remake - "Oz the great and the powerful") and the series of books also. Incidentally, I purchased the complete works of L. Frank Baum last year after a brief forum discussion/recommendation. Only read the first one though but I'll get 'round to the rest if I ever get some time off from work! The first book alone had such an amazing magical feel to it and was only one of a few books, like the king Arthur stuff that I read as a child, which made a difficult (to say the least) childhood bearable. It's always an incredible journey revisiting past experiences through the "clean" lens moulded and focused by REAL knowledge and awareness. Pathological movies (most Hollywood pictures) especially. Books such as this will only get better IMO. :grad: :wizard:
