I think you need more than that since a baby a short time after birth doesn't have much noticible difference from the fetus a short time before birth.
Sorry, I'm not following you very well. "need more than that" for what? Deciding when an abortion should not be performed? If so, perhaps part of the problem is linguistic. "Should" implies a mandatory obligation or a state of high likelihood.
Which female is obligated to carry all pregnancies to full term and then give birth?
Which male or female is obligated to prevent a female's decision to abort or not?
As I see it, it's the female's choice as can be confirmed by mere observation. In order to persuade the female differently, I would have to form a "protector" self around an idea whose function would be to prevent the female's intended action.
What could be the 'idea' around which I would rally my energy and then proceed with my function, keeping in mind that "he who makes an assertion has the burden of proof"?
With regard to the issue of abortion, in general, unless asked by the female in question, my tendency is to leave it to her. The question of "soul or no soul" cannot be answered, it seems, so on the soul issue, I lean toward:
"Whereof one cannot speak,
thereof, one must be silent".
