I thought that was really cool. I hadn't thought that anyone would be mapping meteors that may have been explained off as a jet breaking the sound barrier or some other such explination.

Don't forget to check the American Meteor Society website (_www.amsmeteors.org). They receive quite a few many reports a day and they keep them all since 2005.

Here are the numbers I extracted. These seem to be the confirmed number of events.

2005 = 463
2006 = 517
2007 = 588
2008 = 726
2009 = 694
2010 = 951!
2011 = 1628!!
2012 = 2216!!!

Of course, many factors need to be considered here so we can't take these numbers as being 100% representative of reality but the trend, as far as everything indicates elsewhere as well, is darn real.

Thanks for the link as well. I've seen quite a few interactive maps of the sort and they can be quite interesting.
