If you catch it in time, give it a vote in the right direction.

Done.

Also DONE. Thanks for this post. Gotta say the comments were also interesting and expressed the diverse "opinions," but primarily that this country was SUPPOSEDLY based on diversity and the right to have different opinions.

I just voted as well - still at 88% with well over 13K votes. I was also very happily surprised at the support.

She should stay. SOMEBODY must say what they think.
.

Voted!
She should indeed stay. When she did get to ask questions (very rarely was she called on), her questions were spot on.

Also done. Just wish there was the option of HELL NO!

Thanks so much Perceval for establishing this thread. Helen is taking a beating in the editorial columns of my local paper. It's revolting and disgusting how she's being disparaged! For crying out loud - the woman is a national treasure!!! Just goes to show, one remark about Israel and you're instantly "dog meat" in the MSM. And it just proves how extremely hypocritical all these people are as they are the same ones who profess the following:

"I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!" - Voltaire

Talk about your empty platitudes!

According to this site, _http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/595009/posts, this is Helen's email address: helen(at)hearstdc.com
Of course, the poster was using her email to send vile and derogatory comments, and if she's being deluged by such, she may revoke that email address.

Although Helen was entirely justified in her comments, it's possible she didn't truly wish to express them in quite the way she did and genuinely feels contrite (although the recent flotilla attack was probably still burning fresh in her mind thus fueling her ire). Not too many people make it through life without regrettably shooting off their mouths at least once! And I'm positive she never expected her long and distinguished career to end so abruptly and painfully. All of us who truly respect and admire her need to rally on her behalf and mitigate this awful take down. My 2 cents.

Just voted, hopefully she will come back, if not, may other find the courage to ask the right question as she did.

I just voted.

It seems unlikely that she'll be able to return. Even if she does return she'll probably be permanently on the "pay-no-mind" list.

She's been on the 'pay no mind' list for quite some time now which is why she continues and consistently asks the uncomfortable questions. It's a game. She's the token 'real journalist' - she asks one real question a news conference, she gets a non-answer. She tries to ask a follow up question and the president of the time period moves on to the next person. Over and over again. Her beauty resides in her continuing, decade after decade, to ask the uncomfortable question despite no answer. Perhaps, though, it's not her beauty, but her paycheck?

She is the female, unattractive, old, intelligent burr under any president's saddle and she's been left in her seat in the White House Press Corps because she's been around so long no one has had the guts to remove her. Or, perhaps, because she is the token - and gives at least a vague impression of real journalism of any sort.

Helen could have a LOT to say, if she so chose - and this goes back decades. She hasn't yet - not really. Will she? Who knows.

Gads, the memoir that woman could write! Maybe she will now that she doesn't need to protect her access?
