Oh Hum...........
When i saw the header i knew what it was going to say...no point in reading information i know about i thought though others may not know about it,and therefore is valid and useful as a posting.

Thanks. Moonwalker. I just opted out. This info may be old news to some but I appreciate hearing about it. I don't see why things like this should not be revisted occasionally. There a new people logging on continually. If you've seen it before just move on.

Sorry all, I didn't mean to cause any consternation here. I was in a hurry so didn't post more of my thoughts on it.

It is helpful to keep a thread like this "going" as not everybody DID know about it. But I DID want to point out that they HAVE been doing this for quite a while and it isn't a NEW thing.

Sorry again.

Don

Do you have to be logged-in to opt out, or it refers to, and applys it to, your local computer or DNS or what?

I saw this notice the first time it came out. I had forgotten it. Now I have more computers and use the net more, so this has come pretty handy.

I was disappointed with some of the responses to what I posted and that disapponitment came out as sarcasm when I mentioned Don, however all I was doing was posting some info that I came across, I didn't know it was old news. Honestly the hostility I'm feeling to what I've posted is just weird. I've changed my mind I don' t think this thread should be deleted. At least one person didn't know about this (Manitoban) so something useful had come from me posting.

Like Scio said not everyone knows what the rantings of a psychopath are and even those educated on the issue can still be deceived. Suggest Cernunnos stop causing trouble.
Just want to give my opinion on this issue, as I see it from aside.
Sorry, moowalker, but as it seems, you are the one whose buttons were pushed first. And activation of those buttons created afterwards the feeling of "hostility" you mentioned above.
As you said it yourself, your disappointment came out as sarcasm. And this is the vibe I've got from your post when I first read it. I guess you were disappointed because this didn't turn out as a "scoop" or some new discovery. Pretty natural actually, I also have it sometimes.

And what is also natural (especially in the world with people full of programs) that some other person will give you sarcastic or angry reply. You see, the main problem is, that you used Don's name in this sentence - so it's became "personal". Your reply would be perfectly legitimate if you used "you" instead of Don. But you obvioulsy didn't. So this was a first slip that led to this current conversation. So IMHO I am not sure who was the first to cause trouble. :) But Alas, I am in no way hostile toward you, I just what to express my opinion. And my opinion is, that this thread was major and group button pusher, including my own. And my buttons were pushed when I saw that ScioAgapeOmnis felt the need to explain your reaction by saying that your ego was not riled up, when you explicitly said that you were sarcastic toward Don. And obviously you were hurt in some way.
And now Don felt the need to explain himself and apologies.
I also see this thread as a great learning opportunity for all of us. ;)

Thanks for your input and now you're apologising :) The disappointment I felt, which seems ridiculous now, was to do with the reaction I got from Don and Cernunnos. The tone of Cerns post sounded to me almost condescending, as though he's saying your so naive, I can't believe you don't know this. Then Don (Yes Don this is all your fault - Joke) responded by posting in what to me sounded like an equally dismissive tone as though I'd made some serious faux pas by posting old news.

Now with all that said remember I was coming from the position of posting an article in "Our Orwellian world" which I knew was not the most earth shattering of news yet I did think it was recent and relevent because I had not seen it on the forum before, I also think if you know about this fine ignore it. If you don't then you don't have chastise me for posting about it.

Thomas said if you have seen it before then just move on. That's not what happend, which is strange because there are quite few zero and low response posts in this forum. That is why I don't see it as my buttons being pushed first. My post obviously warranted a response if for the only reason that it was old news. Perhaps Cern and Don were annoyed that it was old and obvious, I don't know.

After I used the "Don" word the whole thread got vectored off with me and Scio sort of tag teaming on Cern (another issue all together). I think if I used "you" instead of Don my post would have sounded worse or more accurately angry and bitter. So I chose Don and went with sarcasm LOL.

So why did I use Don's name in the sentence? I think you're right in what you're saying it became personal to me and I didn't not want to respond because of my ego.

I don't know whether to go on because I could analyse this to death.

Just found this out. Looks like yahoo are watching. etc
Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't aware of this, I've since made use of it. I spotted what you'd put and thought "Learn something new everyday". Maybe there should be "handy tips & hints" post...
