Your Personal Organization Software?

All;

Seems to me that "waking up" implies an alteration in worldview, by definition one that involves larger perspectives and goals. For those of us in a typical work/life situation that isn't changing at the same speed the bottom line can be: more on our plate while managing our already full plate! We can also focus away from some of the 'old' ways and thoughts and people, but they are often still a necessary part of our local community/economy. Add to that evolving creative projects and changing perspectives on relationships, and it becomes very easy to sit down and write almost bewildering todo lists. Anyone here use software to try and keep track and plan? I looked around, and punting older stuff like Palm Pilot as 'first generation' I found some contenders to be Blackberry, OmniFocus, FreeMind, View Your Mind, and PersonalBrain. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks.

Does anyone know any software (preferable free) that can do the below?

It acts as a vault to safely lock documents for a pre-set duration of time before giving the user access to the documents underneath?

Do you need dedicated software? Just archive documents with password (encrypt them), share the archive, then send password with e-mail using deferred delivery func.

Any software that can do what I want it to do is fine.

What I want is a software that

- Can archive a document (say a word document) securely i.e. no access to archived files.
- Once archived (or before) prompt you to state how long you want the files archived for.
- Once the specified time period runs out, make the archived documents accessible again.

The main thing is that the archived files should not be accessible before the specified time period runs out. A software that can archive a file by password wouldn't do as I can just type in the password to retrieve stored files thus defeating the whole point.

No intention of sharing files; purely for personal use but if add-on feature then I can't complain.

Any idea of such a programme/software?

A cloud-based DRM document management solution would fit the bill. Having a client-server model would be necessary for something like that, because otherwise a user could change the local time on their machine and enable/prevent access to the document outside of the permitted time window. So the user would need to run an application that would call-home to the server to check for permissions; also necessary should permissions need to be adjusted after the initial setting.

Here is an example of something that might work for you:

If you can deploy your own server, there are probably open-source apps that could do what you want.

Using a calendar application would be one way of doing that, like Outlook. There is a guy at my work who puts everything into his calendar, allocating time for various tasks and projects. Every day is entirely filled with the things he plans to get done. He highly recommended this book to me, which is where he got the idea:

He is very effective and very productive. But doing it that way requires a certain amount of discipline.
