1938, Romania: at 70, a professor of language and philosophy, Dominic Matei, contemplates suicide: the love of his life is dead, and he remains unable to complete his life's work on the origins of language. Then, he's struck by lightning. After a slow recovery, he grows younger. He must now avoid Nazis, who want to study and experiment on him. Some years later, he meets a young woman who has her own passage through a lightning storm. Not only does Dominic find love again, but her new abilities hold the key to his research. Is the sweetness of life finally at hand?

Yeah. The synopsis is a good synthesis although I have to say that I didn't liked the end. I should have watched until the middle, when they find each other and they're happy. ;)

I was going to post about this movie earlier. I too did not like the ending--though I do like Tim Roth's lover's voice when he dies ,eternally waiting for him--and where, where shall I put the third rose?
Tim Roth is is excellent establishing the narcissism of his character, particularly in the scenes with his double. In fact his evolution in his relationship with his double is extraordinary as works toward choosing service to others. But Roth's range is a little too calculating in relationship with Alexandra Maria Lara. This hurts the movie as Coppola expands the movie from a personal to an epic scale.
The Movie is beautifully filmed at many different locations and is a romantic treat for the eyes. Roth's study of languages and quest for the proto-language (his double teaches him many languages in a waking sleep) is very interesting. Alexandra, reincarnated, is helping him arrive at the proto-language through past life regression (he's sort of using her)--but the process is taking its toll on her.
This synopsis isn't really too in depth and clear/consise but my previous post on this movie two months ago took too long to post and everything was erased.

I still havent see it. Will report those days about my impressions , hardly find it.
Thanks!
