Thinking of having LASIK?

There is a nonsurgical and completely reversible alternative, called orthokeratology contacts or ortho k.

I'm short-sighted, and it can be a drag sometimes. I wear glasses all the time, and when walking out in the rain it can get really annoying quickly. Usually I elect to walk without my glasses; sure, my vision then is like a Monet painting, but at least I can see something!

I liked the idea of one day getting laser eye surgery actually. It would be lovely to be able to see the world in pin-sharp clarity without my specs. But I've heard too many nightmare stories about surgery gone wrong, as noted on this thread. I guess I'll just have to put up with "Monet-vision", lol.

From what I've read, people say good things but they have to do it forever basically. People on the ortho k reddit say they've been wearing the contacts for over two decades. Shouldn't they improve vision enough so that the contacts are no longer needed?

I don't know if it is a scam, but retina clear supplement claims to restore vision to perfect vision within maybe a few months. I don't recall exactly. It was an add on Youtube which took me to this page: https://getretinaclear.com/

It is obviously a selling video in form a story, true or not, I don't know.

I saw it maybe a month ago, but from what I remember the theory was that most eye problems are due to fat in the blood vessels in the eye or something like that. And the rare ingredients clears it out.

I don't want to rewatch it, because I can't afford buying it, but if someone with eye problems can research this further or even test it, if money and the hassle isn't a problem, and report back to the forum, maybe?

My eye vision changes due to anxiety, when I have a total attack of anxiety, my vision blurs totally and I have to put on glasses or contact lenses. But my vision is bad all the time so I wear contact lenses, I decided to use them despite my previous post, because glasses has a negative effect on me.

For example I like to put my hand to the cheek sometimes to rest my head, and that I can't do with glasses. I make odd postures with my body sometimes, I am like that, have autism, so. Plus that my glasses are broken.

The problem with contact lenses in my case is that sometimes I forget to take them out before sleep and in the morning they are glued to my eyes, so I have to wait an hour to take them out. The eye's dries when I sleep, but turn moisty/normal when I am awake.

Another problem with contact lenses is that if you rub your eyes the lens may get moved up into the eyes behind the eye lids so much you can't see it, even if I look under the eyelids, so after maybe a few hours or half a day the lens will eventually come out by its own and exit the eye and I can pick it out from the corner of my eye by hand.

If you decide to use contact lenses you need to try different brands, some work better then others, for example, my previous brand suddenly started to crack after a few days of wearing, and they are supposed to hold for 30 days. The choice of liquid is also important. Use a type liquid which re-moisten the lenses.

My latest contact lenses are better then my previous ones, they don't crack, and I wore a pair for 2 months without them loosing it's shape, I could probably have worn them for another more month. So paying for 6 months of lenses, can maybe last me a year instead or more, for the prize of maybe what ten pizzas cost. :-)

But they are a little harder not so soft on the eyes as my previous lenses, so sometimes I feel them chafing against my eyes.

I had surgeries to insert intraocular lenses into my eyes 10 years ago since LASIK was contraindicated for me. And I'm stilly very happy with the results and I never had any issues or bad side effects. No maintenance is needed and I still have around 100% vision. At the beginning there were some visual "special effects" in the eyes when some direct bright light is present but then I got used to them;-D.
