Here's the news item concerning FIFA head Infantino on Iran's presence at the World Cup. Imagine if Iran faced a match with the USA in the knock-out stages? That would be very spicy indeed! They last met I think at the 1998 World Cup in France. If I recall correctly, USA won 2-1 in a very competitive encounter.

Whatever lies ahead, I feel sure that this summer's tournament will be controversial. Goodness knows what state the world will be in by then, but it's only two months away, so not long to wait now! I'm a big football fan, I've watched every World Cup since Mexico 1986, but something tells me this will be the last one we'll see. I know it's just part of the bread and circuses of 3d STS land, but it's the only sport I enjoy so I'll be watching intently this summer, and keeping a close watch on how the tournament is managed by the 3 nations hosting the event; USA, Canada and Mexico. It's the first time that a WC has been hosted by more than one nation.

This whole "resurrection of the dead" business seems a bit over the top however, although it would be amusing if Diego Maradona put in an appearance to get Argentina's mojo workin'! When he cheated in the 1986 quarter final against England, he dedicated his "hand of God" goal to the suffering over the Malvinas/Falklands. I don't know what FIFA President Gianni Infantino is up to—he has denied the opportunity for Iran to assist, another one who lives in the alternative world, the one in which Trump lives nowadays.

Not quite true. The 2002 World Cup was staged in Japan and Korea. I am a bit older than you so was fortunate enough to watch the 1966 World Cup which is the only time England have won the competition.

When the C's said that there are legitimately insane people in positions of power, I didn't think it would include Trump at some point.

I also wonder who will take over after him. Vance is of course by far the most likely and he was against this war, though his background as a technocrat-financed politician (Thiel, Palantir, etc.) is highly suspect.

Wokeness does seem to be over in the US and even some Democrats acknowledge it. The real support for them is much smaller than the polls and voting suggest, according to the C's.

But I guess with the usual election stealing methods they could bring the Democrats into power again, especially if they scale back the woke and "green" nonsense.

It looks like there is no difference, would it be Democrats or Republicans, the same non-human beings will stand behind their backs, speak with their mouths and pull their strings. As we can see for last many years, nothing changes, and this does not depend, who is the President in the USA.
