Shilajit/Mumijo, anyone else tried it?

I picked some up today at a market never heard of it before, just doing some reading up on it.

I used it for a while, but it didn’t seem to have any effects, so I stopped again. It’s also pretty foul tasting, which wasn’t a problem as such. Not sure if that is of any help.

Using it now for two days haven't noticed any difference yet, will take for a while see what happens.

Yep, I'm still using it. It's become part of my daily routine.
I've become quite accustomed to the taste and quite enjoy it now.

What I've noticed is an overall support of my digestion. Liver and kidney function are better, elimination pathways more active. I sweat a LOT when I work out since taking it, warm up faster,
can workout harder for longer and recover quicker. I have less stiffness, I'm more flexible and I rarely have any arthritic flare ups in my fingers anymore.

I'm more tolerant of things that usually upset my gut, I couldn't take chlorella because it upset my intestines terribly but I've been taking it again without any problem, same with ascorbic acid. (And also things like dairy which isn't an everyday food for me but if I do have a little here and there it's without consequence)

I want to attribute my stable mood and increased motivation to mumijo also but this is more likely that I'm working out harder and more frequently, sleeping better and have less upsets in my life in general.

I love it. I've got 2 years supply in my cubpoard.

Thanks Fluffy. Interesting, the guy I bought it of said it helped with his arthritis.

3 people in my family also tried it for a few days but didn't stick to it because it sapped them of energy- like a detox effect. Having said that they all slept more soundly and woke up with clear and vivid dream memeories.

It took about a week for me to not feel the energy zap.

Now I take it just before I exercise in the morning. If I take it too late in the day it will keep me awake.

Just wanted to share this bit of info, in case it may be useful.

I have an ex-colleague who is keeping a close contact with researchers at the Russian State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology (VECTOR). The center is located near Novosibirsk, and it is one of the labs that work on developing COVID-19 vaccines and drugs.

And in the process of developing the drugs they test all kind of substances and their anti-viral activity. The process is still ongoing. and there are no official papers published or drugs developed (based on these new results). So this info is fyi and fwiw only. ;-)

Their experimentation showed that coronavirus disappears In the cell culture of covid-infected cells after the use of humids (humic acid) that are present in shilajit (mumie).

The idea is to probably create drugs that contain an extract of humids or humic acid.

They also mentioned triclosan, but since it has many harmful health properties, don't know how useful it could be.

@RedFox posted this article more than a decade ago about shilajit and its antiviral potential which is super interesting:

[Snipped, quoted his bolded text]
Focus: What happens if viruses have already attached to your cells? Can humic acid help?

RJL: Humic acid binds so strongly to viruses that it can actually displace them from a cell surface. In vitro studies have shown, for example, that if you allow herpes simplex viruses to attach to host cells and then add humic acid to the solution, it will displace viruses from infected cell surfaces. That is, humic acid has a greater affinity for the virus than the virus does for the host cell. Thus, humic acid can actually displace a virus even after it has attached itself to the surface of a cell.[6]
I have started taking shilajit and it seems to give me more energy. That said, I always find it difficult to say which supplement helps or not, but after taking it I did feel more energised.

Here is more information:

Mine comes from the Siberia Altai Mountains and it's called Golden Mountains Shilajit and it has been purified, bought it on Amazon.

Just a warning for those who are concerned about iron levels in their blood:
Help treat or prevent iron deficiency anemia: Research suggests that shilajit may help increase iron levels and potentially treat anemia. A study on rats found that those given shilajit after induced anemia had higher levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cells compared to the control group. This indicates shilajit’s potential in gradually increasing iron levels and addressing iron deficiency anemia.
As recommended I only used for about 4 weeks, stopped taking it for a couple of weeks, then resumed taking it. My levels of hemoglobin were on the low side when I had my blood tested a few months ago. I only take about 200 mg. a day.

Hey axj, thanks for the thread revival.
I stopped taking it at some point and I can’t exactly pin point why, also around the same time I went on a hiatus from the forum, there were loads of family issues and I spiralled into a dark hole of materialism, mainly focussed on the body accompanied with non specific eating disorders. I have mostly gotten on top of the mental side of the eating/consuming, still having family (partner) problems which I’ve been considering opening a new thread about when I have a straight train of thought about.

I’ve been feeling like death warmed up since my last kid was born 17 months ago, she has taken so much from me, stuff I didn’t have to give, and I’m left feeling like smouldering ashes. Reading my testimony I will be trying the shilajit again to see if I can improve my energy- at the very least, any help I can get right now is a very welcome assistant.

I've never heard of a flu that lasted two months.

Dengue has flue/influenza like symptoms which can easily last 2 months. In SE Asia i had several times flu alike symptoms with especially a cough lasting for 2 months. Even non smokers have severe problems to get rid of this cough.
