Good catch Casper.

From the article you posted.
10:10, UK, Sunday 03 April 2016

A tsunami warning has been issued for a 186-mile area of the Pacific Ocean following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake off Vanuatu.

The quake struck 94 miles northwest of the island nation and was 35km deep, according to the US Geological Survey.

There is a possibility of "hazardous tsunami waves" for coasts within 300km of the earthquake's epicentre, said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

The quake comes just over a year after Cyclone Pam devastated the country, killing up to 50 people.

Also, to add: there was a KP index of 6 last night resulting in auroras, dipping quite low due to apparent general weakening of our geomagnetic field, which i mention since i've heard there may be correlation.

Added # 2: this was because of an apparent coronal hole stream, rather than a solar flare.

related? maybe not, but that it's on an industrial estate i find interesting. Could be a meteor, could be a rat chewing on a wire. Just for consideration since the earthquakes speak to increased activity.

More than 70 firefighters tackled a huge blaze which broke out on an industrial estate in Tottenham.

London Fire Brigade said 10 fire engines were sent to the fire at a single-storey bakery unit in West Mews, near West Road, at 6.20pm.

A spokesman said no-one was injured.

He added crews fought to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring units until it was brought under control at about 1am on Sunday morning.

Fighting the flames: Ten fire crews have been called to the industrial unit in West Road, Tottenham (Paul Wood)

Station Manager Charles Hanks, speaking from the scene as the fire was still raging, said: “Crews were confronted with a large fire when they arrived and are now working hard to confine it to the bakery and stop it from spreading to any neighbouring factory units.

"There is some fuel stored on site but crews have isolated the supply and it is not involved in the fire.

“The fire is producing a lot of smoke so we are advising residents to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution while it is going on. Thankfully though no injuries have been reported.”

Police were also called to the scene at around 7pm and closed roads in the area.

Firefighters remained at the site throughout the night.

Pictures from the scene show huge plumes rising over north London.

IT manager François Hérissé, 47, took a picture from his home of the smoke rising.

He said: "We first noticed a smoke and the very strong smell. I took the picture from my balcony and closed all windows."

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but an investigation has been launched.

More: Philippines airport 5 hours power outage - bit of a bad article, more about who's to blame!

Meralco: No scheduled power outage

By Non Alquitran (The Philippine Star) | Updated April 4, 2016 - 12:00am

Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga explained that Meralco personnel inspected the site and found no problem with the substation circuits, leading them to conclude that the problem lies with the NAIA and its system. Philstar.com/file

MANILA, Philippines – The five-hour power outage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) on Saturday night was not caused by a technical glitch at the airport substation of the Manila Electric Co., Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said yesterday.

He explained that Meralco personnel inspected the site and found no problem with the substation circuits, leading them to conclude that the problem lies with the NAIA and its system.

“Our team’s inspection revealed that Meralco has nothing to do with the power outage at the NAIA Terminal 3 for five hours,” Zaldarriaga said.

The Meralco inspection team, he said, arrived at the NAIA substation at around 1 a.m. yesterday to conduct inspection and repairs on wirings that could have caused the power outage but found nothing wrong with the facility.

He also said that establishments near the terminal did not have the same problem, suggesting that the fault lies with the NAIA.

Zaldarriaga pointed out that Meralco has jurisdiction only up to the metering point. Beyond that, the responsibility rests with the customer.

NAIA 3 lost its power at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and regained it about 2 a.m. of Sunday. An initial report blamed a technical glitch as the culprit.

Although Zaldarriaga confirmed that the lines tripped, he clarified that this lasted only less than a minute.

“Further power outage at the terminal was caused by load pressure from the internal electrical facilities,” he said. – With Danessa Rivera

Blown transformer causes power outages in Provo, Orem, Lindon

Daily Herald Updated 8 hrs ago (0)

A blown transformer in Provo Canyon has knocked out power in areas of Orem, Provo and Lindon.

According to the Orem Police Department, Rocky Mountain Power is aware of the problem and is working to fix the problem.

It is estimated power might be restored for the remaining 2,751 customers from the original 22,955 by 11 p.m.

For continuous updates on the large-scale outage, visit Rocky Mountain Power's Utah outage webpage or those with an online account can sign in to report an outage and get updates, or call at 1-877-508-5088.

A smaller outage in Provo was reported by Provo Power. According to a Facebook post, a Rocky Mountain Power transmission line was down and laying across Provo Power lines, causing the outage in the Provo. Power is expected to be restored in this instance sometime after 10 p.m.
