10,000 US troops to be sent to Mexican border

I'm wondering of they are finally deciding to secure the U.S. borders TO KEEP AMERICANS LOCKED IN, rather than illegals out?

By the way, it seems that if it was so easy for illegals to sneak in all this time, then it must have been the same for all those pesky "terrorists." It's reassuring to know that our government will go to such great lengths to protect us. They'll murder thousands of Iraqui's for our safety, yet leave our borders wide open for Larry, Curly and Moe to cross at will! Now suddenly, they are going to correct this glaring error? Does the noose feel a little tighter?

The "illegal immigrant" issue, all the nonsense being spewed about Mexicans doing jobs that U.S. citizens won't do, and the crud about lettuce prices going sky high if farmers have to pay a so-called "decent wage" is little more than smoke and mirrors. Amazing that people believe this show. Oh, well hell, people believe that blasted Da Vinci Code book too, so...

This just in....

BREAKING NEWS

Updated: 3:23 p.m. ET May 17, 2006
WASHINGTON - The Senate voted to build 370 miles of triple-layered fencing along the Mexican border Wednesday and clashed over citizenship for millions of men and women who live in the United States illegally.

Amid increasingly emotional debate over election-year immigration legislation, senators voted 83-16 to add fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers along the southern border. It marked the first significant victory in two days for conservatives seeking to place their stamp on the contentious measure.

The prospects were less favorable for their attempt to strip out portions of the legislation that could allow citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants and create new guest worker programs.
Uhhhh - yeah - that'll fix it (whatever 'it' is)

I have exactly the same impression. It reminds me stories of people who attempted to escape from communist Poland. Some were succesful, some were not, but nevertheless, we make movies depicting their adventures. Some of them aimed to reach United States and indeed a couple of them fulfilled their goals. And today...well, well - 4D STS lords have peculiar sense of humor...

Can you imagine, say, six years ago, that you got a peek at Yahoo news headlines for six years in the future thanks to an internet time machine and saw the headline, "Bush orders 6,000 troops to the border," how freaked out you would be?

Now such stuff sounds routine for us frogs in the pot.

I guess that could be, but then why leave the border to Canada open? Of course, our relationship with Canada is quite a bit different. The PTB would say that they aren't sneaking across the borders in the dead of night curled up in the trunks of cars for the privelege to wash our dirty dishes and tend our lawns. The other side of the coin is, they aren't turning anti-US on a massive scale, either.

The countries south of our border are becoming a bit of a problem for us. They are turning toward leaders who seem unwilling to jump into bed with the U.S. government and they have a whole lot of oil under the ground. Maybe this has something to do with that building political situation. One thing seems for sure. Living here in L.A., where we have a rather sizable Latino population (a lot illegal, no doubt) I haven't talked to anyone who has felt that this illegal immigration "problem" is causing a drain on our lives.

This is the other side of the coin: Here all the machinery has been constructing one of the greates scandals in rescent history. Everybody has been lead to be brutally offended because of this, and Senate and Deputees debating on calling international associations to talk to Washington and explain this meassure is not "correct".
Here is the scene behind all this movement: July the 2nd. Presidential elections over here. All the talk is propaganda to appear as "the best candidate" to the millions of desperate mexicans praying for a solution... well take a guess, who do you think has been talking too about this, condeming it of course? It beguins with a "CH"... now give me a "U".... now give me an "R"... while Fox do not solves the main reazon for the immigration to USA: Radical Misery.
Fox is a laughable pupet. The real worry for the PTB is to continue being the PTB, and not the frontier or the misery.
And of course not the immigrants or the USA citizens.
Same with Atenco.

If i was a mexican immigrant I would be a lot more worried about the trigger happy redneck with the thermos and deer rifle sitting on the border .If i was an american id be worried that my country was turning into a military junta where the answer to every problem is put troops on the ground "for the good of the people".Stage 1 in the imposition of martial law is desensitization. Take british occupied northern Ireland it began with troops on the so called border then it was troops on the streets, people haveing to carry id all the time, boys and men from 16 onwards being sent to internment camps because they could be a potential member of the IRA.etc etc .martial law aint pretty.

I've crossed the Mexico border many times years ago and I don't remember ever being scrutinized leaving the U.S.--by the Americans--No scrutiny until you returned! Shooting Closes San Diego Border Crossing

Comment: Let's see: a vehicle allegedly containing illegal immigrants was trying to get back into Mexico FROM the US, and when it left the shoulder and tried to get back into traffic, US officials fired multiple rounds into the driver, killing him. Given the recent uproar about illegal immigration, wouldn't authorities think that it was a good thing that some of them were returning to Mexico??

Allen, I think this Sign's article could give us a hint as to the answer to your question: New Security Cards Will Help Both Countries, Bush Says

Basically, I think, it's highly likely that the two governments are one, so to "escape" to Canada is simply to enter another wing of the cage.

Does the noose feel tighter yet?

I think you hid the nail on the head. And since you are from Ireland, you KNOW its true because it happened to you!

So when that fake bird flu or fake Iranian terror attack or whatever fake catastrophe will hit and the few prepared people that manage to get out of the epicenter fast, will know this is the time to split for good, but all the flights are grounded (now this feels already a bit more normal, right?) then the logical last option is to drive out. But then:

"Zeigen Sie mal Ihre Papiere!" (Show us you documents!)

Why would Congress vote for such a thing? No doubt members of the congress and their families have a different set of travel privileges.

On that subject: I ment to post this since days:

In New York City the latest plans (latest steps towards a successful execution of that martial law once its there) is to spend $25 million to install cameras in a.) every subway car to declare WAR on GRAFFITI! http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/23/nyregion/23mta.html
Come on! You mean; no more spraying of red Vs inside the cars (with or without a circle around) and b.) in every bus to fight (you guessed it: UUUHHAA) TERRRRRORISTS ...and thugs. Boy I feel save now. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/419463p-354133c.html

Sometimes it does feel hopeless. The people are just not able to connect the dots even though they are spoon feed many new dots every single day.

Hell, looks like some home-made portable EMP devices would come in handy. "Point and click" would get an entirely new meaning and disrupting those cams could even become a hobby. Like trainspotting.
Sheesh, unfortunately, the military have all the cool toys, while we are left to those ancient slings.

I think I have a "button" on cameras. I become naughty reading such things. Those gizmos are almost everywhere - even in Poland. Like..I usually make shopping in small stores - lil groceries, bakeries, etc. So I walk into my favorite bakery (which is very small, client area is maybe 4 square meters), order some bread rolls with cheese and lazily look around. And there it is. Staring at me with it's motionless glass eye. "Hey, what do you need this camera for? Have there been any bakery robberies last century?" The lady behind the counter froze for a while and after a minute answered "i..iii..it's for...safety..I guess". Well, she didn't look SAFE.

Exuse me this rant, friends. Like Fifth Way, sometimes I feel hopeless as well.

just a few random thoughts ... there's a few good things about being desensitized, I could wake up one morning to find the mothership had landed and I'd just walk back inside my house and have a cup of coffee and a smoke break, no way would I be up to facing that without my morning ritual, and let's face it, it takes way to much energy to run around all freaked out. I don't think there is much that the government (any/all) can do to frighten me anymore, in the back of my mind I know they are doing things far worse than that ... I'm irritated, annoyed, disgusted ... but fear? Being desensitized doesn't bug me so long as I can hold onto my humanity ...

I was reading an article that was linked from here ...

not sure what to think ... perhaps they know something we don't and all that, but such measures would only stop humans. I think it would be far easier for 4-d beings to into such places than for humans to get out ... imagine the ease the 4-d critters would have in cleaning out the government top-dogs ...

There are so many just absolutely insane things afoot in this country. A friend of mine was telling me about some of her classmates were sent to prison because they were wandering around in the desert with food and water to help the illegal immigrants that had snuck across the border ... not jail, PRISON. Oh let's not act like humans or anything ... Or another one of her friend's boss was sent to jail, for being a terrorist, he was only part of an enviromentalist group, and he ran a coffeeshop, you know the kind - poetry reading, a knitting group etc ... and he mysteriously died, the police claim he killed himself with a plastic bag ... hmm, they let you have plastic bags in jail? The tightening of the noose is one thing ... but what about the invisible shackles around one's ankles?
