I could only get the short version of the book...
Ended up with the long version, and will have to compare what was missing and perhaps see why.
So, herer are some quotes from the book :
In the longer addition, caught up to where you had quoted from. Interesting, that he shifts away from the main narrative while taking up the pre and post cataclysmic events in a social context. One can see the pre cataclysmic behaviors in the now, almost as if he was writing in the now.
His private experimentations factor (he was in the aerospace field), which he realized were being replicated elsewhere. The main finding between the two experiments independent of each other, was that animals and people. (in this sense) developed hyper criminal intent to do bodily harm, and even resort (as you mentioned) to cannibalisms.
Thomas spends time looking at Bode's Law - where it fails and how it can be corrected, in terms of planets and cycle positions; what is there, what is not there (lost) et cetera. I'm no physicist,
As a specific subject to that of Pierre's earth changes book, Thomas spends time looking at the "magneto-hydrodynamics"(or magnetohydrodynamic waves) following the experiments of the Swedish physicist Hannes Alfven (mentioned in video). The words in Pierre's book are that of a Stator, while Thomas looks to Alfven's work with mercury experiments and electrical discharge (that will take another read)
:
Without saying it, at least not yet, the cataclysmic undertone also reflects the 'As above so Below' state of affairs'.
It seems Chan Thomas was a real person, full name Chauncey Powers Thomas. It does seem though that he took a lot of his ideas from Hapgood (and others, like Velikovsky).
Thomas does bring up a number of scientists of different types (and their work by title) that he recommends. He does bring up Velikovsky and Hapgood, yet seemed to be more focused on others (one gets the feeling there is a lot of borrowing of ideas though).
As for who he is, their is a short biography placed in the last third of the book (the organization of the book contents is not traditional, like sections were placed to fill the voids - first impression only and that may change:
THE AUTHOR
Dr. Thomas attended Dartmouth College and Columbia University, graduating from the latter in Electrical Engineering.
As a result of his research and analysis since 1949, Dr. Thomas has become recognized as the world's leading authority in cataclysm.
His cross-correlation research in the fields of stratigraphy, vertebrate paleontology, radiology, oceanography, glaciology, seismology, earth magnetism, anthropology, and other related fields has demonstrated that the concepts as presented by DeLuc in 1779 and Cuvier in 1812 are definitely more acceptable within international scientific circles than they have been previously.
Dr. Thomas' definitive efforts in integrating the various earth sciences have distinguished him as the only American with such a specialized scientific forte.
He devoted twenty years in the writing of The Adam and Eve Story, which included seven years in re-translating Genesis I, II, and III. He is the only person to have formalized the science of cataclysm, achieved through his first cross-correlating known, accepted data toward proving or disproving whether cataclysms have happened, then deriving the process of cataclysms, followed by the time schedule of cataclysms, and fifteen years of research in finding their trigger.
He does dig into the cataclysmic turnings; 7,000 (Noah), 11,500 (Adam & Eve) - younger dryas range, 18,500 ("barely mentioned in Geneses II"), 29,000, and 49,000 - claiming "Mathematically, its function is that of a helicoid" (this last dates were looked at through the lens of Shanidar Cave in Iraq or mathematically).
For linguists, the language roots through the ages was discussed. He breaks down Greek roots to suggest there is a Polynesian connection. The Mayans factor, as do others.
