Great song! I've been surprised. I didn't know that pedal steel guitars existed back then!
I know only the Everly Brothers and they do not use them.

Hmm I saw this performance on a family guy episode once. He's quite a good singer.

I actually find it kinda hard to answer that question. I don't actively dislike them, I just see them as a part of my past. In the late 70's and early 80's I was growing up in the midst of the disco era and listened to them often as did a lot of folks. In fact, my dad, who was a die-hard country music lover, liked my favorite: "Take a Chance on Me."

Nope, not really.

"Take a Chance on Me" is a song recorded in 1977 by Swedish dance-pop group ABBA. It was the 2nd single to be released from their fifth album, simply called The Album, and has appeared on numerous ABBA compilations such as ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits.

The working title of "Take a Chance on Me" was "Billy Boy". Written & recorded in 1977 by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, it was sung by Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, with Fältskog delivering the solo passages. It was one of ABBA's first singles in which their manager Stig Anderson did not lend a hand in writing the lyrics, firmly establishing Andersson and Ulvaeus as a songwriting partnership. The song's origins sprang from Ulvaeus, whose hobby was running. While running, he would sing a "tck-a-ch"-style rhythm to himself over and over again, which then evolved into "take-a-chance" and the eventual lyrics.

I find Loreena McKinnett's music to be really nice.

As far as the other artists, I'm not a fan. Conway Twitty has, personally, always freaked me out a bit - who knows, maybe it's the hair... ;)

ABBA are my favorite when it comes to singing karaoke. Also good as a background music while cleaning. :)

Me too.

And I admit to having Shania Twain's and Celine Dionne's songs on cassette in the past. :-[

I kinda like ABBA. Just as Buddy, it's part of the music in the past, when I was growing up.

Now with the movie "Mamma Mia", there is a sudden resurgence of ABBA songs. And my kids are singing to it!
Surreal!! ;D

ABBA's Arrival was my first album, it's in the attic somewhere. Pierce Brosnan singing SOS, that truly is surreal.

LOVE Loreena McKennitt. Have all her songs. Her voice is astoundingly beautiful, many of her songs send a shiver through me.

As for Abba, I have to confess that I do like a lot of their songs. Sure, most are pretty shallow, but they have incredibly catchy beats and melodies. On that note, I've always thought their song, "Angel Eyes", was actually about a psychopathic man, with all the talk of being "hypnotised" and "wearing a disguise" and "paying the price":

Last night I was taking a walk along the river
And I saw him together with a young girl
And the look that he gave her made me shiver
'Cause he always used to look at me that way
Then I thought maybe I should walk right up to her and say
Ah-ha-ha, it's a game he likes to play

Look into his angel eyes
One look and you're hypnotized
He'll take your heart and you must pay the price
Look into his angel eyes
You'll think you're in paradise
And one day you'll find out he wears a disguise
Don't look too deep into those angel eyes

Though some Abba songs are really quite poignant, such as "Fernando", "The Winner Takes It All", and "Slipping Through My Fingers".

I love ABBA and hate Celine Dionne. Love ABBA because they are great to dance to and nostalgic for me because my mom used to play them a lot when i was younger. And Celine's voice bothers me for some reason, though I know a lot of people love her... I can't stand her. I also find it funny how she keeps retiring and coming back... she's retired like 10 times.. lol (that might be exaggerating)

I don't like country music, except for Shania & Dixie Chicks. Don't know much about the other people on the list lol
