Alleged Pentagon Strike Witnesses Introduction

The information included below my comments is posted on Michael Rivero's "whatreallyhappened" site.

It is clear that his intent is to quash the "no 757 at the Pentagon theory." I undertook to read every word of every single account, and by the time I was done, I wondered if Rivero can read or if he has an agenda.

For sure, Rivero snarls and sneers at media whores all day long, and points out who is and isn't lying (in his opinion, and most of the time he's right), and points out who can and can't be trusted, and who does or does not have an agenda, a good reason to lie, and so on. So, the question begins to burn within: why isn't he applying his obviously extensive talents and analytical abilities to these alleged testimonies?

More than that, in some cases, they aren't even testimonies or eyewitness accounts, as he presents them, they are third hand "hearsay" descriptions of what happened that the person is giving based on what they heard or saw on television or from someone else.

In one case, Rivero presents three separate witnesses and three separate testimonies, all gleaned from the same single article published in the UK Guardian. It is as though he wishes to "multiply" the witnesses.

Several of the testimonies that he has excerpted on his page are out of context and clearly NOT eyewitness of a 757.

So, what is Rivero up to here?

There are several of these links that bring up errors, they no longer exist on the web. It would be useful if anyone could find them archived somewhere and if a thread has not been created for that witness, to create one in the same style.

Each of these testimonies and witnesses needs to be gone over with a fine-toothed comb. After all, the ONLY thing that keeps the "Flight 77 hit the Pentagon" thing going is the so-called witnesses.

Let's do some deep digging on these and some careful analyses. There are some witnesses who claim to be here or there and thus have been able to see things. Let's find out if those witnesses are real people, did they really say what they are quoted as saying, and if we can pull up maps and photos to show if they could really have seen what they said they saw.

You know, it is really astonishing that the so-called evidence for this crime consists merely of a rag-tag collection of unverified, not forensically analyzed, so called "eyewitness" accounts gleaned from the MEDIA?!!

So, we should also check the official 9-11 report to compare witness testimonies there with these that are presented on the net as "proof" that Flight 77 hit the Pentagon.

Each witness has his or her own thread, so let's go to work and sort this out.

Thorbiorn, perhaps you could add a small description for each witness, like you have for Bauer, showing why they are not reliable. For example, some descriptions are "vague," "do not corresponed to physical evidence," "Gannett associate," etc. That way we can get a more realistic list of whose statements are actually worth anything.

Thorbiorn wrote in one of the Pentagon threads (which I despite looking am unable to find) that we should look at putting all this info into charts or spreadsheets, in order to get an overview of the material. I think that is a good idea and found today that somebody had already done that, so I thought that we could use that as a model for what we are doing and then see what conclusions we reach and why.
To not be influenced by other investigators conclusions, I suggest that we clear the boxes in the chart and then as we discover things fill it in.

I was thinking along the same lines but was having problems as to how to post the spreadsheet. So while searching for a solution, I came across this Online Spreadsheet. The problem is still that the spreadsheet will exist on a different server. Alternatively, we could get permission to use the source code for the javascript that the website is using, and make our own spreadsheet. That still leaves stuff out like who is going to enter data, can everyone enter data, etc?

You have alot of options as to how you can store data, the easiest beign MySQL. The idea needs more fleshing out, as I hardly see how it will be of any help to simply put them in a spreadsheet.

There is the possibility that you can track connections, and undoubtedly you will find that most of the witnesses are connected in some way or another. At least the ones considered unreliable. This all of course would rely on some programming skillz.

There has been the constant toying with the idea of having a database of weird phenomena that is searchable etc, however it seems to have never really taken off...

I do not think I know enough about all the people to pass such judgements. But I have added more personal details; hope that will help to evaluate who is who.

Some ideas I had for organization of information which one then can put into spreadsheets if desired.

THE WHO of observation including:

Name the observer, education, age, profession, sex, any possible bias caused by convictions or state of mind.

The source for the information, website, newspaper, etc

Name of the reporters if any, after all they are mostly the one that claims a witness has said this or that.

THE LOCATION OF OBSERVATION

THE OBJECT SEEN:

The distance to the object, and to the target.

What they observed, its sound, colour, flight path, movement, height, interaction with surroundings like air turbulence or lampposts, speed, and angle of approach.

What else happened in front of the strike area, or in the surroundings like planes, helicopter, firetruck, anything exploding moving etc

AFTER IMPACT:

Initial moments of the impact, color of fire, size of damage,

Explosions that followed if any,

The debris,

The spreadsheet on http://www.911-strike.com/PentagonWitnesses.xls. is simple but then. Considering the complexity, possibly one should not try to correlate too many factors in one sheet, at least to begin with.

There are a lot of sites that have done work on the Pentagon strike, one job could be to create a spreadsheet or at a list and categorize these with regard to link addresses, name of researchers, conclusions reached, whether it contains analysis or is like WhatReallyHappened; a short presentation and then a conclusion.

I also think it would be a suggestion to create a CD for educational use with known resources available, like photos, articles from the time of the event, and research done since then, because what I have found is that as time goes by links die out, articles become archived or unavailable, obfuscators add their versions of the photos and so on. Even if one would have to obtain permissions in order not to violate any possible copyrights it might be worth it. analysing the 911 case is a very good exercise.

Another would be to form small groups, try individual solutions and when they are worked through, upload them to the Yahoo casschat forum, so others can see.

For viewing photos I think Opera is very handy because by just pressing + or - on the calculator part of the key board one can zoom in and out. Also the pictures to my eyes appear a tiny fraction better than in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

What's really frustrating about this is that this job SHOULD have been done by the authorities, by proper experts, in a courtroom. Has anybody checked the 9-11 report for any analyses of witness testimony? Or did they just diss that?

He saw a plane flying very low and close to nearby buildings. "I thought something was coming down on me. I know this plane is going to crash. I've never seen a plane like this so low." He said he looked at it and saw American Airline insignia and when it made impact with the Pentagon initially he saw smoke, then flames."
The Guradian has: "Afework Hagos, a computer programmer, was on his way to work but stuck in a traffic jam near the Pentagon when the plane flew over. "There was a huge screaming noise and I got out of the car as the plane came over. Everybody was running away in different directions. It was tilting its wings up and down like it was trying to balance. It hit some lampposts on the way in."

Mary Ann Owens, a newsroom assistant at Gannett News Service, was driving her car alongside the Pentagon Tuesday morning. Suddenly, an American Airlines plane hijacked by terrorists passed some 50 feet above her car and crashed into the building. Smoke and flames engulfed the west wall.
''At first no one moved,'' she later wrote for GNS. ''Then the debris began falling over the cars.'' Stalled in traffic, motorists pulled their cars aside to let emergency vehicles pass.
Mary Ann helped calm one woman who was screaming. Her own hands shaking, she called her husband. Then she turned to her role as a journalist.
''I went from car to car asking if anyone had a camera. Four cars down, a woman had a disposable camera. She asked for $20. I paid. An officer in uniform yelled for me to get back in my car. I snapped pictures of the carnage from my car as I was being directed away.''
Later, one of her photos from the scene moved on the wire for use in Gannett newspapers.

Having created a modified version of the spreadsheet on www.911-strike.com/PentagonWitnesses.xls I decided to upload it on yahoo cass chat, but that is not possible, then I thought about the Numsum solution suggested by Vulcan 59, but before signing up it is good to read the small print on http://numsum.com/legal/termsofuse.html

Thanks for pointing the out the "small print" at Numsum!! But I still agree that a spreadsheet is the way to go about it. Perhaps we could explore looking at a javascript version.

But the other problems like, it will be visible to all(might attract unwanted attention depending on what we put up)who should enter data, can everyone enter data, etc still remain.

I suggest that it would be good to also make a spreadsheet with the news organisations and the websites, that have covered the pentagon strike and the conclusions that they have reached.

I emailed this idea to Thorbiorn saying that I would start a chart and post it later as the investigation goes along. Thorbiorn emailed me back a couple of Danish sites (in English) and this led me to the idea to ask people on the forum, who know of good sites apart from the obvious, to post them to me via the Forum. I am thinking that there might be some good French or German sites worthy of interest. They don't necessarily have to be in English. German or French is OK.

An overview and categorizing of some of this mountain of material could be helpful.
As for now I will make a start.

On page one of the introduction I sometime back began to list the alleged witnesses on the What Really Happened website. Since then I have added a list with emphasis on the sources including other witnesses even if hey are not direct Pentagon witnesses that the reporter or specific article mentions. And before any of those list there is a Source publication timeline, where you can see very quickly in what sequence the articles or testimonies have been published.

For those articles that have more than one witness or source I have gone through them in the threads and divided them so it is easier to find a specific person and what he or she said. Some of the witnesses of these articles one will find in other witness analysis on other sites.

One thing I have learned in this exercise is that the reporter may add some introduction or comment along with his presentation of witness so one gets the impression that the witness has actually seen a say Flight 77 or a Boing 757 although if on studies the direct talk or indirect talk sequences, then it does not match. Also in the Washington Post article on the 16th of September they explain how they wrote some parts of the story.

Just because it is direct or indirect talk does not always mean that the person said this or that, it is may mean it is reconstruction. And if the reporter is honest the reconstruction will correspond to facts or information he or she has. However there still is the editor. Any large newsagency or publication has an editor or more editors and they have the rights to rewrite, add, or remove sections of the text prepared by the official author. Same goes with the headlines, I once heard of a large German publication who had employed one person I knew to just write headlines. Headlines are what catches the eye, they are the ones that help to make a publication attractive and easy to sell, and it is an art to formulate a short expression which gives the essence of an article and speaks to the reader while at the same time reflect the editorial policies.

So how factual an article is depends on the combined ethical position of the publication in general including its owners, the reporters, the editors, photographers and also the topic at hand.

Some are more sensitive than others like ufos and no 757s near the Pentagon. And if lying is needed misrepresentation is a better way. Similar in the What Really Happened quote selection there is much emphsis on the alledged witnesses, but little on all that does not add up. In this way the witness selection serves to direct attention in a direction which perhaps is not the most productive. If the Government wanted they could just release the video and security camera recordings and the quarrel over the witnesses would be over. They don
