Amanita Muscaria a friend or a foe?

Just a little update on my micro- dosing experiment.
So far nothing major to report. OSIT
I've put mine on hold. After going up to 5 drops of tincture at night and noticing nothing sleepwise, I thought maybe I should take it in the morning. I tried the 5 drops on an empty stomach and almost immediately my heart started to pound., which alarmed me.

Not sure if I'm going to order the dried caps or not now. I guess it isn't for everyone. 🤷‍♀️

I think so too.
I guess one has to thread very softly with caps, listen to the body and develop relationship with this herb. So far I do have a distinct feeling it is helpful to me.
I am not big fan of tinctures ( except for external use) since I think the process adulterates the properties found in dried cap.
However lots of people report very good results with ton tinctures too.

I would say that what you may be looking for is a highly decarboxylated amanita that has been heavily converted into Muscimol, which is usually achieved heating via tea and lemon juice, from what I understand. There are also tinctures that are more decarboxylated than others, if rest/anxiety reduction is what you are trying to achieve. So the active compound Ibotenic acid is a stimulant, will energize and create focus to the consumer, over time as the ibotenic acid is metobolized by the cells, it turns into muscimol at the end of the day. if you take ibotenic acid at night, it may keep you up if it is not converted. I believe @worldbridger mentioned the recipe book by Amanita Dreamer. I’m going to give that a read and see if there’s any more detail on how to exactly decarboxylate ibotenic acid for night time relaxation users. Just waiting for it to arrive.
 
I purchased a bottle of tincture, I believe it's 2000 mg, 1 ounce (30ml) but I can't equate that into a mathematical formula of how many drops to take. :-D Possibly a questionable vendor because I ordered it before I saw the list of approved ones.. The directions on the box say it's not to be ingested at all, I think because of FDA regulations. The dosage is one dropper but there are no markings on the dropper.

Being cautious, I just took two drops under my tongue before bed on Monday, but no chande in sleep. Last night I took three drops under my tongue and still no change. What I'm looking for, is help with sleep so I'm hesitant to take it in the morning, because I'm sensitive to things and I don't want to be all wired out all day, I already have high morning cortisol and anxiety. Then again, I just may be one of the people that it doesn't work on. I will keep experimenting slowly and perhaps try ordering something different from one of the approved vendors.
I don't know if you have a medical condition or what you've tried so far, but have you tried adaptogenic herbs? Considering your cortisol levels (maybe you are tired during the day), these herbs can be useful and works on the whole system. I bought some books from Stephen H Buhner, a wonderful and very knowledgable man, highly recommend him.

Top of my head: Russian root, Ashwagandha, Cordyceps, Rhodiola, not directly for sleep, but if the system is out of whack so to speak you can't sleep.

Another herb, not an adaptogen: Honokiol (Magnolia bark extract, 98%) for relaxing and sleep, some studies (can't find them) show that it as potent as some benzos, so GABA-receptors.
 
I'm really sensitive to everything, GABA and ashwagandha have the opposite effect on me, and I've tried most all herbs related to sleep and relaxation. Thanks for the info though. 😊
Hm, may I ask if you have a condition/diagnosis, besides sleep issues? Seen doctors/therapists? Blood work/tests? Diet?

How are you in general?

Ashwagandha might be a nightshade thing, do you mean pure GABA or all precursors too?

If you are fatigued or stressed out you can't sleep, I know from experience, that's why I mentioned the adaptogenics.

I have Sjogren's Syndrome (an autoimmune disease) among other things and see a doctor regularly for bloodwork. Unfortunately, not everything works on everybody. 🤷‍♀️
