the rabbit said:
"Comply or die" its number was "33"
Why would you want to call your horse that , and i always thought dobbin was good enough.
Weird world.
The owner is someone called David Johnson.
Johnson made his money from Commercial First, an Essex-based mortgage provider, of which he is (or was) the chief executive officer.
This is from today's People (the Sunday tabloid):
"As Johnson is a former moneylender, the name Comply Or Die seems a menacing moniker for the gelding which showed it had the balls for the fiercest of contests.
"And Johnson admitted he had to think twice when the name was chosen in a competition among staff at his mortgage company."
I don't think they're strangers to the idea of keeping up with your payments - or you've had it, i.e. "comply ... or die!"
It kind of reflects the attitude of the PTB and our economic masters generally: do as you're told, or you're dead - fit into the system or we'll sideline you indefinitely.
And of course, death is very much a part of the Grand National. This is from BBC News:
"Some sad news to bring you - McKelvey, ridden by Tom O'Brien for Peter Bowen, died after the race. He came second in 2007."
fwiw.
