Any budding radio show hosts out there?

I can't encourage members enough to get involved in SOTT radio. For me, it came at a really crucial time in my life, and being involved with this crew, having a regular scheduled time to chat and delve into topics of Health and Wellness, it's really been an incredible journey this last 16 months.

Just my 2 cents... if you're on the fence, jump off and get involved! :cool2:

Certainly of interest. The what and how I'm unsure of but think it would healthy and fun to be involved in such a project.

I think it might be interesting if a few UK members got together on this.

I have to say, that has crossed my mind; not just in response to this thread, but before now, too. I've had the title The Spirit Level in mind for a show based more on the science of the spririt section of SOTT. But if there's a possibility of this actually happening, then maybe it would be better not to put such a restriction on it in terms of possible topics for shows.

I think it would be good because we already have a rapport, plus it would be great for bonding more as a group.

I am interested in helping with this. I'm not hanging around with anyone in my area. I have some background in health and art, plus big interests in gardening, cooking.

I had an idea to do a sort of weekly recap of the instances where police behave like a gestapo, there's so many stories I can barely keep up anymore. IDK if there's anyone else with whom the topic resonates or not.

That could be a segment on the Truth Perspective/Behind the Headlines show on Sundays.

I could pen a script to give you guys an idea, or perhaps just a list of events with brief summaries.

This thread has a bunch from the last month or so (since March 15th). I'd likely just use that as a guide, summarize each event or the most egregious depending on how much time you wanted to dedicate to it.

How about you prep something and call in during the next show to present it?

This week, we'll be doing an interview for the first hour, then having a short-ish discussion afterward on other topics. So we'll have time for a police craziness roundup. When we see you call in, we can give a brief introduction. How does that sound? Just let us know how you want us to introduce you and your segment.

Expanding radio shows, yay!

Ideally, no radio shows should overlap, to increase the number of live listeners (e.g. multilingual people may want to listen live to and participate in all shows).

For those of you who want to do a radio show and want to sit together around a table: You'll need some kind of hardware audio mixing equipment to connect several microphones to. However, something like that doesn't have to be too expensive when selected right.

For purely 'distributed' radio shows -- where every participant is in a separate location --, a regular USB-based microphone for each participant is enough.

In all cases, hosting a radio show will not just require a browser, but at least one additional piece of software: a stream uploader. Depending on your particular situation (computer skills, other factors), you either can install this all by yourself, or send us an empty SSD hard drive, and we'll install our own, in-house made streaming setup on it. You then need a separate PC to run it. This is how we stream all current SOTT Radio Shows.

Once you are at that stage where you are starting to think about the technical details, you should consult with us (PM to me), we have some experience with various setups.

I just want to chip in here aswell and say that being part of the Health and Wellness show these past 6 months has been a real awesome learning experience for me. It's great fun delving into all of the different material and being part of the crew (even as a late-comer). It truly has been incredible :). Completely agree with what Joe said, there's no better way to learn than to research things and then talk about them with eachother. Good luck to all involved with these new additions because it's a cracking idea!

And maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but, would it be possible to simultaneously broadcast on both YouTube and radio.sott.net?

It is possible if whoever is hosting the show is able, via OS settings, to route an audio mix consisting of the browser output plus the local microphone input into the stream uploader.

Cool! Sounds like a plan. Erm, intro... I guess just say I'm a sott editor and the segment could be called 'Police State Roundup - a collection of stories from the past month or so covering unnecessarily violent police behavior in clear violation of our constitutional rights'

I'll try to summarize as much as possible. How long would you want the segment to be?

Thanks for some technical details. Have you maybe some links for a simple mixing device and what else is needed (xlr based microphones, simple 3.5 mm jacks and so on...)?

One mixing device I looked up last year already:

Well, it would be up to you guys. If you think you could sustain a weekly show on that topic, then why not. Otherwise, what about a UK specific show dealing with all things relevant to Brits? God knows there's enough skullduggery going on on a daily basis there.

Maybe you could start a new thread in the members section with the UK peeps (or anyone else) and see what they think?

Absoulutely. ;)

What are your gardening and cooking interests? Could they be turned into a weekly segment for the Health and Wellness show?

I think so. I am a self-taught, very creative cook. Strong interest in ketogenic/high fat diet. Still much to learn.
Same with gardening. I have grown some vegetables. I do a fair bit of food preservation in way of fermentation, canning, dehydration. I'm not a certified expert, but I am pretty comfortable in the kitchen. Very big on home grown vittles as a way of controlling my intake of some supermarket mystery ingredients.
Looking for land at the moment to get into some animal husbandry for fiber and food.

I've been thinking that I want to get involved but couldn't think of a possible show idea - this actually sounds like a very good idea. There is so much going on here that I can barely keep up, so I would very much like to get involved as it would help me understand it better also.

Yeah, i wanted to give it some thought - but i think i'd be comfortable with a bit of back and forth constructive criticism about our current overlords and the mess they're making :)
