Any budding radio show hosts out there?

Do any of you like talking about the weather?

We often ended our shows by mentioning a few events, but so much more goes on the world over every week. How about a segment that presents a round-up of extreme weather/seismic activity/volcanic activity/meteor activity/solar activity/space weather, and so on?

Good idea. As you know, talking about the weather is the Brits favourite pastime :) so a segment could fit in there well or separately as a standalone venture.

Another great idea. Who's the most avid weather watcher and interested in doing a weekly crazy weather/earth changes round up?

However it's presented, i'd say it's a great idea, there's enough material there, and it's getting busier everyday!

I think a tagged-on segment at that end with some discussion, on whichever show, or just as a regular discussion point, sounds good. Kinda like has been done before, because i think it worked well. If it's a particularly busy week or there's something of import, just devote more time to it: like Japan splitting in two and Ecuador violently and repeatedly shaking; or the unheard of deluges in multiple countries, like in the last month: Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Texas, Argentina, New Zealand, Chile... Or the funnel clouds/tornadoes which are touching down in unexpected places.

It may be an idea to start a thread for people to post articles worthy of note, those featured on Sott and those not - everyone can get involved - because i think there are a number of us who like to track the mayhem - and it saves the pressure for research just being on one person.

We kinda have that going in the: what's the weather where you are thread but it may free up that thread for more local postings rather than us adding everything there because it's been hard not to post about the crazy weather just generally. Plus we can include general earth changes in the new thread like the Earthquakes and the meandering jet stream and so on (added: and like you say Niall, the meteors, volcanoes and so on). And anybody who has any pointers as to why they think it's occurring, can do so.

Just some thoughts.

Actually, regarding making threads for specific shows - i don't see why there can't be one for the UK show, if it gets off the ground, or even just in general, since it has a particular focus; and people can post any articles, events - like protests or strikes as an example - or research they think is worthwhile, there. Like Puck is doing in the US police state thread.

That sounds good. Having a regional variety show including all these types of subjects might make for a fun, interesting presentation with appeal to many people.

Well, it would be up to you guys. If you think you could sustain a weekly show on that topic, then why not. Otherwise, what about a UK specific show dealing with all things relevant to Brits? God knows there's enough skullduggery going on on a daily basis there.

Maybe you could start a new thread in the members section with the UK peeps (or anyone else) and see what they think?

I think having a UK show is a great idea, so count me in too! :) It will be challenging for sure....but then again those of us who were regular listeners to the BtH shows have probably learned more from those great teachers, Joe and Niall, than we may even be aware of! :) The folks across the pond are an inspiration too, as the TP goes from strength to strength!

Another great idea. Who's the most avid weather watcher and interested in doing a weekly crazy weather/earth changes round up?

Well....I like to keep an eye on such events, so am sure I could help out with that. It might be good fun to try developing an occasional satirical segment to the show also, to help expose such skullduggery?

I am interested too and was thinking of a monthly or bi-monthly Danish show (in Danish). It could be more often, but I am away too much to make that happen. The title could be "There is something rotten in Denmark", though it would cover the whole arena.

I like the idea of adding segments with various other topics that are covered on the SOTT page.

I think that's one of the other benefits of it is when you're isolated from other people who are seeking the truth, it's easy to feel like you don't really know anything about anything. Then, when you meet up with a bunch of like minded people, all this info starts pouring out of you to your surprise and you realise, "Geez, I knew more about this or that topic than I thought."

Weird how that works.

PC

Must be PC (laptop or desktop), not too young, not too old. Ideally you send us a new SSD hard drive (120 GB is enough), you'll get it back pre-installed with Debian 8. It needs Linux because it supports arbitrary application-to-application audio routing, and has one custom piece of software that makes the automation of a radio show more easy (has to do with starting/stopping the show on time, plus archiving it on Sott).

I can get a PC setup for UK folks.
Is this something I can setup myself, or is there some custom software involved? If not I'll send a SSD.

Yeah, a bit of satire could be fun. At the moment I like RT's Jonathan Pie or Chunky Monk (London Cabbie) as sources of inspiration.

Not sure we'd need to be as confrontational but it is nice to get the creativity flowing. I was thinking of morning newspaper headline correcting and maybe even sound bites from Joe public. (The latter coming after a funny chat I had with an Evening Standard vendor ranting about current politician scandals)

Having said that, prolly best not to get ahead of ourselves and putting together a simple show as has been discussed, would be an achievement.

Yeah, I think humor is important now and then! :) It makes dealing with this world which is getting more insane by the day a bit more tolerable.

Let's talk about it, I have looked into the hardware situation and it is doable, though my present WiFi solutions leaves something to be desirede in terms of stability. Regarding title, the idea of "There is something rotten in Denmark" takes us back to Hamlet. And in 1971 John Mogensen made a very popular song ("Der er noget galt i Danmark" ~ There is something wrong in Denmark). It would not surprise me though, if many mordern and educated people in Scandinavia do not know the history, neither of Shakespeare nor of the song from 1971. Do you think the title "There is something ...." help them to understand what the show is about or attract them? Should we begin with all that is rotten, and when we run out of that, change the title of the show?

Regarding the title, then it was just what came to mind in a humorous moment and I think a title that describes more what it is about would be appropiate.
As for content, then it could be a way for us to say in a show, what we don't have time to translate for the Danish sott and would give more background information. We can have a topic but also have time to talk about all the other things that are current.

As for the technical side, then I am not sure whether we need to have a separate PC set up and with a SSD configured by Data. If so then I have a spare laptop, though it would need to be reinstalled and configured, but that would be a small thing.

I like the idea.

I am interested in talking about matters in our neck of the woods, and this idea of having a radio show or a regular online 'talk session has come up in our group. This could be done in the local language, particularly since we have a much stronger handle on the spoken language than the written. Whether we are ready or prepared do take on such a task is another story - practically scheduling the time and putting in the efforts before going on-air may be challenging.

However, all of us are researching and keeping up to date with what is going on, the question more is what medium do we use to share that information: "information arranged by a truth becomes consciousness". We've used the local SOTT medium and that can continue while we consider if adding an online broadcast would enhance/amplify the signal, so to speak.

Still, I find it appealing and somehow more doable than writing articles and commenting on them, which I personally have not done much. This could be a big assumption, but I think a regular online broadcast may be an effective way to "arrange the information" to increase the signal, and a concrete activity where some of us here could contribute more. There is some concern about revealing our identities (as we would be more easily identified doing a talk show) and possibly becoming open to attacks on ourselves and our families.

Just my thoughts FWIW.
