It seems also in europe odd birds are turning up in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is currently a June record of a Snowy Owl on the west coast of Ireland in County Mayo. (Record from irishbirding.com) Normally this bird, should by now, be on its high tundra breeding grounds. (There was an earlier record this year of one in south west England -but that was no so unusual as snowy owls are not infrequent winter visitors to the British Isles). As these are large conspicuous birds it may worth looking out for other out-of-season records (in the press) elsewhere in North American and Eurasia. These odd bird records in total could be important pointers to worsening arctic summer conditions (global cooling).
