Behind the Headlines: Paradise Stolen - Interview with Stefan Verstappen

This week we're talking once again to Canadian author, artist, and martial arts expert, Stefan Verstappen. Stefan has a professional background in communications and business management and has travelled extensively throughout East Asia, where he has studied oriental art, culture and Kung Fu. Stefan is the author of 'The art of urban survival' from which the viral YouTube video documentary 'Defense Against the Psychopath' was taken. We previously spoke to Stefan about the video he produced on the topic of historical cycles of human civilization and the manner in which they appear to repeat.

In his video, Stefan makes the case that we are currently in the final stage of our cycle of history, defined, like all others, by widespread chaos. Historically, only small groups of people survived the periods of destruction that defined the end of a cycle, and they did so by forming themselves into tight-knit communities with specific organizational structures.

More recently Stefan has produced 3 more short videos on the theme of "Paradise Stolen" where he explores the specific reasons for our current state of societal chaos, the alternatives to the way we live today, and what we can do to face the future and survive.

Join us this Sunday May 3rd 2015 from 2-4pm EST (8-10pm CET) as we discuss the state of the world, how it got that way, and what we can all do about it.

Some how I couldn't connect form the start ... so I jumped in when you guys started to talk why War is absurd and how psychopaths manipulate healthy male instinct for protection of group, how they manipulate those noble feelings to do a good change, to fight for the rights, you know etc ... that was just so to the core of the problem, why any kind of violence and rage has to be somehow avoided ... as there is no any point in that ...

As we see now on Balkans, that just didn't move any thing forward for better for the people living here. Now we are just scattered all over the places without any rights or freedom, but under huge illusion that we have all of that ...

Last night was again a big manipulation gathering in Zagreb with more than 40 000 young and hot people uplifted to go to fight for the country if they will have to?!?!?! ... And that was organized by war veterans and 100% war invalids ... so those who were manipulated 20+ years ago!!!
Only for what they "fight", and why they are organizing this, is for dignity of war veterans?!?! Needles to say that the main organizator of this mess is a guy who became war invalid not on the war battlefield, but just by his own mistake during some fun with the colleagues at work ...
And country is in such a economical problems that it is outrageous that they see it as the only problem in Croatia, the luck of dignity towards veterans, and luck of national pride! It is so sad and scary at the same time, to see this energy of young manipulated honest fellow citizens, who are pushed at the most emotional buttons, and blinded and brought to the point that if you say a word against that, or if you try to rationalize the situation and try to speak how they are manipulating them, you will be punched to your face, and immediately proclaimed as anti patriot and ex Communist what so ever :( .. needles to say that it is all covered and supported by Catholic church :(

And also talking about psychopaths who actually like us to suffer, and more we cry and fight for freedom more they firing us, another trap that will happen probably is that they will just start "operating" war one morning, without giving people any chance to even go and buy a daily supply of food or water, or to have some cash or power batteries at home .... you know .. most of the people on the west get used to easy life without taking to much care what we have at home, as we have everything avalible 24/7 .... and that is so scary ...

Any way thx for the show will share the recordings ... I hope it will help many to realize how aggressive and war like approach will not lead us to a better world ...

I agree with him when he says that what we are living now is caused by war. People are not conscientious of anything, it seems to me. When they yell on the streets, or on their articles, or on the street they forget that everything that we are living, no jobs, cuts in everything, corruption, etc, is due to war. War is the biggest problem on this planet but nobody cares. This is something that I find very hard to accept, that people don't care about war. It is insulting. I feel always very angry to see this fact. So I think we need a big one, a big, huge, enormous comet, the biggest one. And that's all.

Thanks for the program. Very interesting and informative.

Congrats for a great show! Stepan spoke very directly and clear. Only 2 things, as my english is not that good to understand every word:

1) when he was talking about the homosexual marriage I understood that the reason there are more important problems to deal with is that they are being used to divide people (divide an concquer) Am I correct?

2) If I understood correctly, Stepan said that it would be useful to have people that are capable of defending themselves and others physically and act against the agressor. But I am not sure If I understood him. Can anyone elaborate a little bit this?

Edit- Stepan, not Stephan!

Got a chance to listen to the show the other day, thanks so much. I think Stefan is a most insightful guest and it's really motivating to listen to him talk with so much heart in it. I also really like his voice!

Here's my perspecitve:

1) I think the first point was that yes, there are definitely bigger problems on earth than whether a gay couple may have a few bucks more a year because of tax reductions or that the law calls it "marriage" instead of "partnership" (that's the discussion in Germany for example). And the second point was that there's such a media frenzy on this topic that it really serves to divide and conquer - another diversion, another rift through society, another "hotly debated topic" creating hatred and stupidity on both sides. That's how I understood it at least...

2) That was a very interesting part of the interview I think! He basically said that we have to be strong, and this includes using violence when it's necessary (and of course only then!), even though we may not like. But the way I understood him, he meant we have to be strong in many ways facing the psychopaths and their world, just being violent is not a virtue in itself! In fact, in his book "the art of urban survival", he strongly advises to avoid violence at all costs and use evasive strategies instead whenever possible, since attacking is always the less successful strategy. However, when we have no choice at all, better to strike hard. Btw., isn't it interesting that violence is officially totally condemned in our Western culture, yet we are supposed to accept police violence, cruel wars in our name, soldiers and armies and whatnot? It's as if the psychopaths are saying "only WE have the right to be violent for our own ends, and YOU are to stand by and watch!" - like in Stefan's example of the serial killer and his hostages, the few hostages who managed to escape were the ones who were prepared to use violence in an all-out attack, instead of accepting the psychopath's violence while trying to merely convince him with words and pleads to let them live. All in all, I think this is a very interesting discussion.

Here's something not to do:

Don't bring up Universe 25 with gay rights activists unless you want to be skinned alive.

I don't know what the I was thinking. While it was an honest reaction to the propaganda, it was also externally inconsiderate. The battle for Gay Rights is such a cherished social convention and grounding point for shared identity that discussing it clinically in any way which might be perceived as negative is instantly taken personally as an attack.

But, damn! Strategic enclosure is hard to maintain when you're surrounded by people insisting that green is red.

I mean... The White House AND Disney's Magical Kingdom bathed in rainbows? The symbolism is horrifying on several levels.

Oooh. Just made this connection...

Rainbows painted in light everywhere is one heck of a way to announce a "color" revolution.

What's the symbolism?

What's the symbolism?

I see Disney's Magical Kingdom, and its centerpiece castle as the ultimate symbol of wishful thinking and dis-empowering cultural programming aimed at the very young.

That programming includes both fealty to royals/elites (it's the background air breathed in their animated features; only nobles and their lovers have adventures), and specific gender role messages of varying degrees of strange, (the dissection of Disney princess messages could be grist for another whole topic, but in general, a young woman brought up on Disney properties will have absorbed some unhealthy ideas of what acts must be performed and goals achieved in order to be a happy and successful woman).

On the other end of the country, the White House is the symbol of grown up wishful thinking. The seat of American Royalty.

Both institutions are complicit with the prostituting of children, either in the preparing (think Miley Cyrus) or the consumption.

Now both the White House and Magic Kingdom can be seen (literally) in the same light, linked by the rainbow, closing the circle. Endorsing from childhood through to adulthood the society-wide re-engineering of human sexuality and relations into something better suited to the service of a ponorized elite class.

That both the Magic Kingdom and the White House are on the same page with everything the rainbow flag represents, is horrifying.

And consider: What images come to you first when you think, "Gay Pride"?

For me, I don't think of happy couples of the same sex holding hands. Thanks to our media, I have baked in my head displays of ostentatious bizarre deviance linked to violence and power/submission roles.

Media matters.

As it happened, I found myself standing behind a laptop where somebody was playing the big hit single from "Frozen" today. -Where the frost-queen sister, (Elsa?) sings about revealing her big hidden secret. "Let it go"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSFlvxnbgk

I didn't catch it the first time when I saw the film, but it struck me instantly that this was a powerful message for kids to absorb which is entirely linked to the problem in gay culture of "Coming out".

By contrast, her sister, (name I can't remember), is given the message, "He's not perfect, but he's good enough." -Which seems like an unhealthy way to enter into a heterosexual coupling.

This is Disney; programming the young.

Why do they want everybody to be gay?

And what else is going on this week while the gay tumult is being tumultuous and distracting?

(TPP. Greece. Jade Helm. Racial shootings.)
