And you wouldn't believe it but, my 15 year old just bought a electric guitar!! Now the last time I played a guitar was like 35 years ago, so you know kind of like frozen fingers! Any on-line resources that you would recommend? Great to have you back.

it must be contagious, my son has just started guitar lessons at school.

anyway, try _http://www.justinguitar.com for a huge number of free online beginner/intermediate lessons, and songs to learn, all in the form of 10 minute video tutorials, which I found really good.

Hi Nomad,

Thanks for the info. The problem is that she wants to be like Eric Clapton, after a few days, no kidding! Don't laugh, she is serious which is why I bought it for her. All I told her is, go for it!! Make my day, punk!

lol.

sorry, going a little off topic here... well, my son is 8, and within 24 hours of having his guitar he'd learned from my sister (who's pretty good at guitar) the names of the notes on all the open strings, and could work out (with a little head scratching) the notes for all positions on all strings on the first 4 frets. Totally off his own initiative. I was amazed! he seems really keen.

Had been wondering about you (and a few others who seemed to have not posted recently) too abstract, glad your doing good! :cool2:
I've had an urge to take up running again (I haven't run for several years now....far too long), so am planning to get some new trainers and start at the end of the month!

Interesting about things being lighter, I noticed this morning that despite it being a dull grey and rainy day everything seems beautiful right now....theres tones in the grey I never saw before. :)

And then I also started taking spirulina, omega 3:6:9 (all in one) and a multivitamin each day.

Hi E....may want to double check omega 6?? (I think it is)...one of them I recently discovered may not be so good for you.....its the one that tend to be quite common in margarine's.

When it comes to exercise just because you know it's good for you, I find it a little hard to motivate myself. I have to work towards a goal of some sort, like entering a race in a few months time that I know I have to be in some pretty good shape to be able to do it.

That first hurdle from completely unfit to relatively fit is the worst, when you have forgotten what the inside of the gym looks like. Once you're over that, it's nice again, and you don't feel like you're going to have a heart attack 5 minutes into it.

Those endorphins are also a nice incentive. ;)

Hey abstract,

until now I haven't posted to any of your threads, but I've always enjoyed reading you,
you truly are a spirit-lifter :) and I, too, have been wondering about your absence and
I'm glad you're back and doing fine!

Yeah, same with me. At least now in the winter time it's really hard to motivate myself. I love to go running in the forest
nearby, but currently there's So much snow and ice running isn't really possible - I tried it once, but believe me, no good idea..
Which means the fitness studio, and I somehow don't like these studios, which makes it even harder to motivate myself.
I'm so much looking forward to spring time and nature re-awaking

Hi abstract,

I, too, was wondering where you were. Glad to hear that everything is going so well for you.

As has been said, if you need us, we're here for you.

hey guys, haven't been on here much lately. Before I scamper off to give guitar lessons, i'd like to say that I believe i am in some of the final stages of getting over depression. I don't feel so "blaaaaah" anymore. I feel like I am in control. There isn't such a big "heaviness" that i'm carrying around. I feel lighter, better. I even exercised last night.

Thanks for all the good advice.

Good to hear that man :)

Hi Abstract
I missed your posts too, in fact I mentioned to my wife last night that I hadn't seen any for about a week and was gonna ask about you on the forum.

I agree with Puzzle

On YouTube I was listening to some Joe Satriani & I saw, (came across), that he has a whole slew of YouTube videos of him teaching guitar. From beginner level to advanced. Looked very cool. I laid the ole guitar down when my kids where born a 1/4 century ago. But the Satriani lesson videos kinda stirred an awakening desire to play some music... You may wanna check those out.

hey abstract, and a big HOWDY to ya...

edit: laid it down more like 30 years ago... :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

Oh I'm catching up late on this thread, but just wanted to say as many have already said that it's good to hear from you again abstarct. I was also thinking what happened to you :P

Glad to hear things are going well :D

Ditto to everyone else who was wondering where you were man. Your posts were like everywhere and then... silence
