The Living Force
Hey Gang, I've been asked to read a bible verse for my grandmother's funreal. It's next Wednesday. She was great, she lived to 93, had an awesome family and started to physically degrade once my grandpop passed a few years ago. She was in a nursing home, which she disliked, and her mind was slowly fading. It was tragic to watch, so in a way I'm relieved that she's passed on.
It's going to be rough for my mom, as it was her mother, so I wanted to pick something appropriate. Googling isn't turning up too many things that resonate so I figured I'd see if anyone had a verse they liked or felt was appropriate.
I like this one...
But it's a little weird with the wording, and probably over most people's heads.
This one's good too, and a little more general.
I think I'll do the second one. Any suggestions?

1 Corinthians 15:50-55
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-15
There is an appointed time for everything,
and a time for every affair under the heavens.
A time to give birth, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to tear down, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them;
a time to embrace,
and a time to be far from embraces.
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace.
What profit have workers from their toil?
I have seen the business
that God has given to mortals to be busied about.
God has made everything appropriate to its time,
but has put the timeless into their hearts
so they cannot find out,
from beginning to end,
the work which God has done.
I recognized that there is nothing better
than to rejoice and to do well during life.
Moreover, that all can eat and drink
and enjoy the good of all their toil—
this is a gift of God.
I recognized that
whatever God does will endure forever;
there is no adding to it, or taking from it.
Thus has God done that he may be revered.
What now is
has already been;
what is to be,
already is:
God retrieves what has gone by.
The Word of the Lord

I'm kinda partial to the second one myself.
