Bird? Plane? No, it was 'definitely' a meteor across Melbourne skies

Just saw a news update on the ABC. Wow they're REALLY pushing the Russian space junk angle! Okay, so I guess there is a possibility that is what it could have been, but the way they're hammering it home about how much space junk we have surrounding the planet etc etc certainly raises suspicions. Not the slightest mention of the dramatic increase in fireballs all over the world in the last few years.

It's alright folks. Nothing to see here. :headbash:

And it's always RUSSIAN space junk, not US! Given that the Russian are miles ahead in rocket technology to the point where the US is using Russian boosters on their rocket, it would be as probable to be American space junk, if not more so.

Just, it isn't ...

Yes, it is kind of insane how the pushed again the space-junk button on this one. I think they will use this excuse again and again when there is an opportunity.

They've been pushing all angles! Yesterday there was another one about a fireball in Spain. The "experts" dropped the "space junk" theory again. People on Facebook were talking about it OBVIOUSLY being a meteor fireball, with a trail, a boom and all, and the "expert"'s reply was that people were wrong, that what they had seen was probably the moon under a cloudy sky. I mean....geez... Oh, they also said that a fireball would have lasted longer in the sky. Like they know! :curse:

It always works. Forget all you saw and heard: "It was definitely flight 77 that hit the Pentagon!"

The moon under a cloudy sky!? :jawdrop: I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Thanks for posting those videos Kniall. I was amazed at the person in the first video continually saying "what is it? what is it?". Is the concept of fireballs really that foreign in the general populace? I clearly give people too much credit.
