Blessed Herbs Colon Cleansing Kit

Hey Guys, i think it was in this thread about acne:

http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=5695&p=2

That colon cleansing was brought up. As I've been having digestive issues off and on since college I figured I might as well give it a try. I got the colon-cleansing kit from Blessed Herbs found below:

http://www.blessedherbs.com/Internal-Cleansing/Cleansing-Kits/the-Colon-Cleansing-Kit-H-3882.html

And modified the directions found therein to suit my particular situation. I started on 9.13.07, the directions state you can have as much water and organic juice as you like, so i had as much as i craved. I also had an orange for lunch just to give my stomache something to work on. They give you packets of toxin absorber (fiber + Herbs) that you mix with apple juice and drink 5x a day. It had the consistency of a smoothie, and the ginger flavor went well with the apple juice. They also give you Digestive Stimulator capsules, which you take as often as you need to in order to have 3 bowel movements a day. Finding the right number takes a bit of time and experimentation, on the first day i took three. I was constipated pretty badly, so i had to play with this number as time went on.

9.14.07
Another 5 TAs and 4 DS caps. I also had plenty of juice and water. I could definitely feel the TA moving through my intestines, and got pretty sleepy in the evening, so i napped from 4-6pm. I also had half a beet salad and some strawberries.

9.15.07
I took a TA in the AM and found myself feeling bloated with constipation. Since it was bothering me i took an enema and it helped me pooh - it appeared relatively normal, so no interesting "results" yet.I started adjusting the way i took the DS, and started taking 3 of them every hour before the TA. I also had a shrimp, plenty of juice and water.

9.16.07
Again i had cramping and bloating, so i took another enema and pooh'd. Felt much better afterward. I continued the TA/DS regiment as above, and in the evening i cheated and had 10 potato chips and a small bowl of lentil soup. Boy was that a mistake, i got major bloating, and later the women in the office told me that salt was a bad idea. Learning that lesson the hard way, i kept away from salt for the rest of the cleanse. I was also pretty stuffy in the evening, with my ears leaking a very watery earwax and my nose running non-stop.

9.17.07
I skipped the DS in the morning, and took the TA @ 10, 1, 4, 7, and 10. This was the first day i pooh'd easily and out came the "results" demonstrated on the website - dark rubbery pooh. I had some probiotic yogurt in the evening, plenty of juice and water.

9.18.07
I had cramps when i woke up, so i pooh'd immediately and got the same "results". Dark, rubbery, some flek's of yellow cloudy gunk. I then went to work and after an hour or so i pooh'd again, same stuff. Took the TAs @ 9, 12, 3, 6, and 9 and 3 DS caps @ 5 and 8.

9.19.07
This was the last day of the cleanse. I took the TAs 4x @ 8, 11, 2, 5 and 4 DSs @ 8pm. I pooh'd again in the morning, and it was diarrhea-ish with fleks of yellow slimy pooh, same thing in the evening. Kinda signal'd to me that i should stop here, and i was getting pretty sick of the apple juice/TA cocktail. I also had some brown rice, egg and vege's when i got home in the evening around 10pm.

9.20.07
First full day of normal eating. Started with a bike ride to work, and apple breakfast. Followed it with a crabcake for lunch, with some tomato and spinach soup. Dinner was sushi and in the evening i had a bit of milk chocolate as a treat. No bowel movements, and i feel fine otherwise.

Today I'll prob take some miralax (commericially available laxative, reccomended by my GI Specialist) and I'm gonna take Benefiber 1ce-2ce a day as a fiber supplement. If i have anything else to report I'll bring it up here. I'm going for a colonoscopy on the 5th just to make sure there's no serious illness or precancerous polyps, and I'll be sure to give y'all my opinion on that fun procedure as well.

Hi Cyre, what do they prescribed for your coming colonoscopy? Did it 5 years ago and I had to fast the night before, and swallow a nauseating - with a bit of lemon taste - dry compost diluted in 4 liters of water for a whole day. I pooh'd everything! But I can't remember any funny colors in it ;-) I wasn't paying attention to that load... anyway, it was the only way known to clean the colon up and let the doctor perusing around with his tubular-camera.

It was quite a show on that monitor :-O

It seems that the old way to perform this cleansing, consisted in diluting something like magnesium-sulphate, or 'english salt' into liters of water until you got the job done. This 'english salt' seems to be really bad for the stomach.

This solution is said to work because it don't let the water be digested by the body, and so it shall flush later on in the same way it was swallowed. It also irrigates the 'dry' fecal matter in the colon, in a way it throws it all away(!)

And one thing is always forbidden: don't eat solid stuff during the fast! And Cyre, it seems that you've eaten a lot of rubbish during this long fast ;-) Have you checked that stuff with any blood-type food list perhaps?

Finally I'm a bit concerned with the effects of this 'english magnesium salt' stuff in the body, anyone has a clue here?

It's called NuLYTELY, which is described as PEG-3550 (Polyethylene Glycol), Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate and Potassium Chloride. It's like 4 liters worth of fluid im supposed to drink the day before.

The doc's also want to sedate me, not sure why exactly, but I'm gonna opt out of that and maybe just get some Demerol. If possible I'd like to do it with no pain medication, but it's something i gotta discuss with them the day i go.

I didn't really think of it as a fast per se, more of a cleansing, and yeah i did trip up a bit, but it's hard to not eat solid food and drink apple ginger glop all day. Gonna try the water-only fast and see how long i can do that for. I'm thinkin of trying it for three days as a prep/build up to 10, gonna do that next week thou, wanted to go back on normal eating habits to see how i felt. I must admit i feel much better and my cramping has vanished.

Hi Cyre,

I've been there, done that colonoscopy thing. The most horrible, terrible, disgusting part of the whole thing is that NuLYTELY. Yuck!!! Having to drink that stuff, whew, but the time you're done with it, it will be the most vile stuff in the world. Well, at least for me and others I have talked to about it. We all agree. The colonoscopy was nothing, but having to drink all of that stuff, gahg.

I was given demerol or valium or something just to take the edge off. I was conscious the whole time. My sense of humor tends to take over when I'm in that state though, and the last doctor who did this did NOT have much of a sense of humor. So I tried to be as serious as is possible while going through something like this.

Just to give you a small bit of humor here, the last time I went in for the colonoscopy, after they had finished with it, they whipped me around and went down my esophagus to see if there were any ulcers in my stomach and test for a couple of other things. I did make sure to ask him if he had changed the instrument before continuing, though. Like I said, not much of a sense of humor, but the nurse thought it was funny. :P He probably wished he would have put me to sleep.

Good Luck

Lol thanks for the input Lynne. When i read it was 4 liters of different salts and some PEG i wasn't really excited about drinkin it either, but whatevs it's like 36 hours of uncomfortableness to insure there's no serious problems, so that's worth it to me.

I do enjoy the occasional medical procedure just because I'm very inquisitive about the apparatus, chemicals, and results. So i get to ask all my science-minded questions - What's that? How's this work? So what drugs are those? How are they gonna make me feel? I am really opposed to sedation thou, had it when i was 8 and it felt like a ton of bricks was dropped on my head, and then i was vomitting for like 2 hours afterward. No need for a repeat there.

I do think moving to an all-raw, gluten free diet would be the best thing for my overall health though. I've been experimenting with gluten foods since the cleanse to see if they gave me the same symptoms as before, and they didn't. But knowing what gluten is and how it effected me before, it's not something I need.

Thanks for the info guys. I just read the info on the site and decided to risk buying the product. It's expensive but at this point I will give it try regardless. I too have a colonoscopy scheduled for Oct 4, but I am not sure if I want to go through with it - I don't have much trust in doctors, and this one hasn't changed that a bit! In fact, since the doctor I was referred to has not even got back to me in regards to some blood test results for the possibility of having celiac disease and whatnot, I am not even sure if the colonoscopy is going to be even still on or not. I guess I will find out soon. If no one calls, I guess I rather just not do it, even though I have been waiting for so long for this procedure, and also since I have my reasons for not trusting this doctor after making the comment "now your life is in my hands" after I signed the papers to have this procedure - maybe he was trying to be funny, I don't know. And before the latter happening, he had prescribed to me a so called "therapeutic" drug that I later found out from the pharmacist to be for easing bladder and back pain, which isn't my problem...So I mentioned this to the doctor later and mentioned that I had not got the prescription because it was for bladder and back pain and perhaps there was an err or a misunderstanding with with pharmacist. He just sort of said okay to the fact that I had not taken his prescription for the one month that he had asked me to and then he asked about my digestion problems all over again and decided I should go in and have a blood test done for celiac disease since my description of my symptoms seemed to point to this problem, and since I had also suggested the possibility of having this problem myself. Anyways, thanks again, and yeah, I too agree that staying away from gluten is a good idea. I have taken all gluten, soy, and dairy out my diet, and I feel a bit better then before. It will likely take more time to feel better, and hopefully this colon cleanse will have some positive results. I had been looking around for something like this.

Hi Cyre, i would agree with dantem here :)

Yet truth be told, i got inspired by the disgusting pictures and your account ;) , and i ordered the product myself. Here's my review and experience:

I am on the 5th day of no solids (not at all!) which is the last one, and without getting into a lot of gross detail, i would argue everyone to get this and try it out! You cannot imagine what evil disgusting stuff might come out of you, how often, and the quantity of it, even on the last day of a liquids only diet!!! I am definitely 3 kilos (approx. 6.6 pounds) lighter because that's probably how heavy that stuff was! No wonder i could never get weight on, no matter how much i ate: the absorption ability of my digestive system was clogged. And to think that i don't eat junk food and stuff....

The process itself is pretty easy, though it is good to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally before you start. It is a very organized program to follow, easy instructions, comes in a cute box and includes everything you might need. You only add the clean water and lots of organic apple juice. I was afraid at first to do it, because i don't like to feel hungry, but the toxin absorber that you have to take every three hours with juice helps out. I was also afraid that i would feel dizzy, nauseous or very tired, and aching body/joints, etc, but that was not the case. On the contrary i felt very alive, and though there were few pains and dizzy spells, nothing overwhelming. But contrary to my expectation and as a site effect, my skin started breaking out. Oh well!

Another experience i had with the cleansing is the sudden changes of mood: suddenly and for no reason, i would start crying, or just as suddenly feel an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness, etc. Mentally it made no difference, same chattering mind :/

The experience is different of course for each person. My homeopathic doctor told me that people who are extremely poisoned with toxins are never advised to do cleansing such as this, because their body is already too weak and it needs preparation and to empower it, before they detoxify.

The only thing that i did a bit different, and after the Blessed Herbs people told me it's fine, it wouldn't affect the fast, is that i was taking spirulina once a day. That might have helped ease the detoxification process.

Overall, the product is recommended by me, i am one satisfied customer :D

I tried the Colon Cleansing Kit in October. I stayed at home during the 8 day liquid-only fast and adhered strictly to the instructions: Nothing but organic apple juice plus Toxin Absorber (Psyllium seed husks, Bentonite clay, Apple pectin, Ginger root) 5 times a day, the personal dose of Digestive Stimulator (mix of organic herbs) and lots of Water.

Toxin Absorber and apple juice seems to have enogh 'volume' and nutrients so that I had no problems with hunger or weakness. Hence, I wouldn't call it a fast, because my GI tract was constantly stimulated and had to work hard to get rid of the debris.

Without going into detail also, I can say that it was exactly like the reports and the pictures on the blessedherbs website -- about two times a day for five days in a row... shocking, but true.

So I recommend this effective product too. It's a bit expensive, but it keeps it's promise. EU seller is www blueherbs co uk.

Going to give this a try and just finished placing an order. Thanks Data for having a link http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=7765 to this page and thanks Cyre for sharing the info on this product. I've seen products recently at this new local vitamin only store but wanted a bit more info and to (gag) view some of the results (boy that site was grphic (opinion)). 1,000 thanks for cross referencing/sharing the info!

I just came off my fast Monday, finishing my colon cleanse from Blessed Herbs. At first I worried that I wouldn't find the right number of digestive stimulator to get the bowels going. But I took them three times a day and I got it going by the second day of fasting.

I was hungry and had slight headaches and stomachache during the pre-fast where you eat less food. But during the actual fast I was ok and didn't get hungry. I actually enjoyed the taste of the apple juice combined with the slushy psyllium and ginger mixture.

I didn't weigh myself right before the fast, but I had weighed myself the week prior. When I was done the fast I had lost 9 pounds since then. During the fast I wasn't physically hungry like I said, but I think I was psychologically hungry. I thought about food and recipes a lot.

The first day of breaking the fast I think I might have ate too much, because food went right through me. I had an organic apple, an organic yam, and some organic spinach with olive oil that day. I think it might have been the only day I've eaten all organic :P, well the olive oil wasn't though. The second day I was really hungry at lunch time, and I pigged out. I was surprised that I couldn't get full. Today I seem to be normalized.

So that's my experience with this. It was actually kind of fun and challenging. I'm wondering how long you can fast before you stop having bowel movements. Because my understanding is that because no solids are coming in, you're ridding the mucoid plaque in your intestines. I guess I'm clean enough though, and I feel better.

Well, I did it - the five day "fast" - and I wasn't impressed with the product. I think that there are lectins in the psyllium and the seeds in the digestive stimulator that made me horribly inflamed. My knee went out, my back hurt, my insides were raw and even when I stopped the digestive stimulator, I had nothing but diarrhea - about 25 times on the last day.

I would say that the volume of stuff in the pictures is composed simply of the gelatinous psyllium fiber sitting and taking on the shape of the inside of the colon. It is also probably an irritant to the colon so it gets coated with a thick layer of mucus.

So, I think it might be okay for anyone who is basically healthy and has no autoimmune issues, a digestive system like an iron pipe, etc. But for those who are ill and have problems with leaky gut or absorption, and probably most need a colon cleanse, I don't think I can recommend it.

I did it as well and it turns out I was allergic to something either in the digestive stimulator or the toxin absorber. My muscles were stiff, I had a constant headache and brain fog, and allergies. The headache continued even when I was finished and started eating. Also, since I started eating, my colon is complaining, it feels quite inflamed. I don't think I can recommend it either.

Yeah, the brain fog was the worst. I'm only just now coming out of it.

Huh, I tried it a couple of months ago and it seems that I'm in the group of people with a digestive system like an iron pipe. 5 days fast only works fine for me, no side effect, except losing 2-3 kg, which I still missing since from that time I made some other major changes in my diet like complete abandon of diary products and gluten and limiting meat consumption to veal only.

Well, for me it didn't go bad, and I only felt nauseated and with brain fog for one day. But I wouldn't recommend it either, because I've done other fasts that work better and are gentler, it seems. I do a salt water cleansing that I learned at a yoga class some years ago, and after I feel much better. No bloating, no tiredness, no nothing. And for months I can see the effect. I think this product is too harsh on the organism if it generates such a bad reaction in some people.

So basically, I'm in the group of neutral people, because although it didn't cause any obvious bad reaction, it didn't have any positive effect either. Actually, for a few days after, I removed all grains from my diet, and that made more difference than the colon cleanse! As soon as I resumed eating grains (just buckwheat and rice), my chronic back pain and bad circulation came back immediately. If it was as affective as they claim, it would have made a difference, IMO.
