I happened upon the breaking news story at a friend's home. NBC is reporting at least 2 explosions at the Boston Marathon. It's difficult to tell what may have caused them as of yet.

BOSTON —Two explosions have been reported near the Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street as thousands of people gathered for the race, and there are reports of injuries.

The blasts happened at about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets. Store fronts have been blown out, and there have been reports of dozens of injuries.

Witnesses said several victims lost limbs, the race was stopped and the area is being evacuated.

Many of the injured appeared to be spectators who gathered for the 117th running of the race.

NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly said the impact of the explosions could be felt blocks away.

They're saying that thousands of runners are still running towards the finish line and that children have been injured as well. And that everyone injured is conscious.

The reporter just said that they don't know 'if it was an accident (gas explosion e.g.) or a deliberate attack'.

Now they're saying 'some people are unconscious' and that 'witnesses reported seeing what appeared to be dead bodies'...oh, geez :(

And that there have been amputations needed as well..

Edit, add: 'Counter-terrorism precautions are already taking place in New York city' and other 'potential targets'.

They're showing footage now, the second explosions seems to have taken place about 15 seconds later 'about a block away.'

Well, considering history and other 'drills' (think 9-11 and Sandy Hook), it's possible. They're already saying that people must be vigilant and prepare to have more pf a police presence.

They have also mentioned that the first aid tent and military presence were located at the finish line. I'm also seeing quite a few black vehicles. Hmm...

Now they're saying a third Bomb went off.

They're actually calling it a bomb now and said that they had foreknowledge. That the reporter was warned 'you're gonna hear another big noise'.

What the hell is going on up there?

According to Boston.com, they just detonated something as a 'controlled explosion" apparently covering up much of the crime scene. Why would they detonate a supposed 3rd bomb right this moment? This stinks.

Yes, they're just discussing it now on the CBS live feed. They're saying that they 'found' a third bomb and 'decided to set it off themselves after having cleared the area'? the last part is unconfirmed though.

Add: 'It's official, as of now, 2 people are dead and 22 injured according to the Boston Police Department'

Also maybe not related, since we don't know who will take "responsibility" for the explosions, or maybe some other explanation will be offered, but it's Israel's Independence Day eve.

The live stream reporter just said, "this is terrorism" as another reporter told her story of watching it all happen and being inspired by national guard members running with 50 pound rucksacks on their backs and it was "so inspiring". Psyop.

and the guy talking just said that the London Marathon (which is even more popular) is taking place next week. Though they don't yet know the reason of the explosions, they are already talking about the measures they have to take to make the London Marathon "safe".

3 explosions, one controlled. The police saw a suspicious package and blew it up just to be sure.
