Floods and blizzard left at least four people dead and nine others missing across Iran over the past two days, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said on Monday, reported Xinhua.

In a statement published on its website, the IRCS said the victims were from the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan and the southwestern province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

It said that of those missing, eight were in the southwestern province of Khuzestan and one in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, adding that its rescuers were using all available capacities to find them.

Heavy rainfall and snow have swept through more than 20 Iranian provinces since Sunday, causing floods and the blockage of intercity roads.

Im aware of this - however its not been enough to sort out the issue in the the main cities such as Tehran - definately for the the more provincial rural areas it is helping to some extent . The water issue had developed of quite a long period of time -contributing factors being drought,neglect of water supplies infrastructure in cities- a few weeks of heavy rain may ease situation somewhat but wont significantly be a quick fix for a longterm issue ;)

ATHENS, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- All flights in and out of Greece were suspended on Sunday after a nationwide communications failure disrupted air traffic control systems, Greek state broadcaster ERT reported.

The problem occurred at around 9:35 a.m. local time (0735 GMT), affecting Greek airspace and halting arrivals and departures at Athens International Airport as well as regional airports.

According to initial information, the disruption was caused by a malfunction in the central radio communication systems of the Athens and Macedonia area control centers, leading to the closure of the Athens Flight Information Region. Only aircraft already in the air were being handled, while many other flights were diverted to Türkiye.

Hundreds of passengers were stranded at airports, with repeated announcements informing travelers that flights had been suspended due to a technical issue

It doesn't look good, it looks like soon things will turn pretty ugly not only in the Middle East but in other parts of the world as well. It reminds me of the C's recent warnings that things will get stranger than we can imagine.

The Russians have also begun evacuating their diplomatic personnel from Israel.

The article mentions other countries, but I haven't found any information about any other country besides Russia doing this, so I would limit that part to a past staff reduction for now.

The Russian Federation's military began the urgent evacuation of its embassy staff in Israel and their families on Tuesday, transporting them directly to Russia. According to official reports, this is the third evacuation flight carried out by Moscow in the last 24 hours.

The operations are being conducted using military aircraft and are coordinated between Russian defense authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in accordance with protocols for protecting diplomatic personnel in high-risk situations. So far, Russia has not reported how many people were evacuated or whether the measure will entail a partial or total suspension of its diplomatic operations in Israel.
Moscow's decision follows similar steps taken by other countries, which have begun reducing their diplomatic presence or evacuating citizens in response to rising tensions and fears of a further escalation of the regional conflict. Diplomatically, these moves are often interpreted as early signs that governments consider a sharp deterioration in the security situation plausible.
