This latest news could be a significant one:
It could be that so far legally speaking it would have been bad for Iran to declare that it has nukes and that it could use it because of this (and other treaties?)? So, if they withdraw from the treaty now that could give them the legal justification to relatively quickly declare that they have build nuclear bombs that they could use? It would give them also a cover from accusations that they already possessed them before the treaty was cancelled?

Iran could withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) because further participation has become pointless after the attack by the US and Israel, MP Alaeddin Borujerdi, who sits on the parliament’s National Security Committee, has said.
Tehran is “not seeking to develop a nuclear bomb, but we cannot simultaneously adhere to the rules of the game and be bombed,” he argued.
“Ultimately, the time has come to withdraw from the NPT,” Borujerdi said.
