Bus sized satellite...or....?

http://www.sott.net/articles/show/147881-Update-Satellite-the-size-of-a-bus-could-crash-to-Earth

The timing of this is indeed strange. If this object is really a satellite it seems odd that it is crashing down to earth at this time of increased UFO and meteor sightings. Are the powers that be trying to prepare us for something or are they just giving us the usual smoke and mirrors treatment?

I also wonder if satellites can be intentionally brought down to earth....where this lands (if it hits land) should answer that question

it is great timing , now it is january 27 it is 6:25 , and as it turns out they are just broadcasting this movie Deep Impact , and its like the 4th time that im aware of it being broadcasted in 2 months probably trying to get the mood in the air...? fear? or the wrong idea of "yeah no big deal the government will do something to help that" , i just remembered that the C's said once that these guys are just too smart to be anticipated what can they be playing to? just some thoughts on this subject it just felt weird that the movie was on while reading this thread....

It seems to be getting more interesting:

The US is wanting to fire a missile at it
_http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7245578.stm

This "broken satelite" could be a great cover for testing a missile that can destroy space rocks.

What do y'all think?

Of course I am waiting for the next press release where they'll try to convince us that Al Qayda actually built a giant catapult in Pakistan that slung a box cutter at the satelite and broke it.

Of course, if they find they have an effective space-rock-destroying missile, they can then decide which rocks they let through and which they destroy.

Yeah, it seems very strange to blow up the satellite and spread this "dangerous material" in the atmosphere vs just collect it at the crash site, I mean if the whole satellite thing isn't just a cover story.
Does missiles work outside the atmosphere, or is the missile just another cover for a beam based weapon?

The US military is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite due to crash land on Earth in the next few weeks, US news agency AP reports.

The broken satellite was expected to hit the top of the Earth's atmosphere by the end of February or early March.
According to NeoDys (_http://newton.dm.unipi.it/cgi-bin/neodys/neoibo) during the period 23 February 2008 – 14 March 2008 five identified Near Earth Objects will pass within 0.1 AU of Earth.

They are:

2002 TD66 was discovered by LINEAR on October 5, 2002.
It will approach within 0.0428 AU (16.7 lunar distances) on February 26 when it
will be a moderately strong radar target at Goldstone.

Goldstone observations are scheduled for one track that straddles the
date boundary on February 23-24. Arecibo observations are scheduled on February 23-25.

With an absolute magnitude of 19.9, 2002 TD66 has a diameter that is probably
within a factor of two of 330 meters. Otherwise, we know nothing about its
physical properties, but if recent experience is a guide, then there's a ~1/6 chance that
it's a binary object.

This object will brighten to about 15th magnitude in mid-January
when it will be a good target for photometric observations.

Due to its diameter and the proximity of its orbit to Earth, 2002 TD66 has been
classified as a "Potentially Hazardous Asteroid" by the Minor Planet Center.

US spy satellite plan 'a cover' 18 Feb 2008

Russia has accused the US of using a plan to shoot down a broken spy satellite as a cover for testing an anti-satellite weapon.

The Russian defence ministry argued that various countries' spacecraft had crashed to Earth in the past, and many countries used toxic fuel in spacecraft, but this had never before merited such "extraordinary measures".
U.S. issues notice on downing of satellite 19 Feb 2008

The U.S. Navy likely will make its first attempt to shoot down a faulty spy satellite Wednesday night. The U.S. government issued a formal notice warning ships and planes to stay clear of a large area of the Pacific Ocean west of Hawaii.
US warships position for satellite shoot down 20 Feb 2008

A US warship is moving into position to try to shoot down an out-of-control US spy satellite as early as Wednesday before it tumbles into the Earth's atmosphere, Pentagon officials said Tuesday.

Armed with two specially modified interceptor missiles, the USS Lake Erie has been tasked to intercept the satellite over the Pacific and shoot it down into the ocean, the officials said, adding that a cruiser, the Aegis, is already in waters off Hawaii.
U.S. could shoot down satellite overnight Wednesday 20 Feb 2008

The U.S. Navy may make its first attempt to shoot down an errant spy satellite loaded with toxic fuel overnight on Wednesday in an area of the Pacific Ocean west of Hawaii, according to U.S. officials and government documents.

A notice to mariners broadcast by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency warned of "hazardous operations" in the area between 9:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday and midnight EST on Thursday.
Weather likely to delay attempt at satellite shoot-down 20 Feb 2008

The Pentagon says bad weather at sea appears likely to put off, until at least Thursday, an attempt to shoot down the wayward U.S. spy satellite.
It will be interesting to see what comes out of this whole affair.
