In the past, perhaps, wars were fought with loud proclamations and big armies clashed. Today this is not the case most of the time. In a previous post, I mentioned the interview by Elena Kostyuchenko with a young man from the Irkutsk, Baikal area in Siberia who was injured in a place where he was not.
Some of those who were where they were not returned home to be buried. This is investigated in this report from Vice News, made by Lucy Kafanov: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=C66mAkS1ZfM posted with a preamble on https://news.vice.com/video/russias-ghost-army-in-ukraine-full-length Also she wrote an article about her work which is found here https://news.vice.com/article/it-is-a-government-crime-the-coffins-of-russias-ghost-soldiers-in-ukraine-are-coming-home
About the work Lucy Kafanov is doing in general, one can read here https://www.facebook.com/LucyKafanov and here http://www.lucykafanov.com/ She was maybe a few years ago on this list http://thehill.com/capital-living/23942-50-most-beautiful-people-on-capitol-hill-40-more Until June 2014 she did work for RT: http://rt.com/tags/lucy-kafanov/
In the video you will see Lucy Kafanov travel to Pskov, Samara area, St. Petersburg and Moscow trying to find out what has happened.
At minute 6:30 in the above documentary her interviewee said:
"A lot of peole watch TV and they genuinely believe that Ukraine has fascsts in power."
It seems to me, based on the data collected that it is indeed a much better description to say that "Ukraine has fascists in power", than to claim that "Ukraine does not have fascists in power".
She mentions one website http://lostivan.com/ allegedly run by a Ukrainian computer guy who has collected a list of people who apparently have been lost where they were not, at the time of the making, it had amounted to some 580 people. I checked it out, fx http://lostivan.com/ivan/4310 a woman whose "Crime" is that she has helped to bring humanitarian help to the "terrorists", crossed illegally into Ukraine, (probably through the area controlled by the Donetsk/Lugansk people republics who had been promised more autonomy in the Minsk 2 agreement).
There is also a map of people with informaiton about people who have been taken POW, died: http://lostivan.com/map If you try to check only the first two squares, those killed or taken POW, and refresh you can see the number of places the people came from, if you then highlight the marks there is information about the person. It appears to me that this site may contain something of value, but it is also malicious. This is not surprising when one reads the list of sites they link to: http://lostivan.com/about
At minute 13:30 a representative of the Soldier's Mother's Group in St. Petersburg mentions that on August 13, some 100 were killed and 300 wounded.
At minute 27, there is an interview with an oncle of one young man who lost a legs when his unit was ambushed. About the situation in Russia the man says:
"In Russia, everybody puts the government first, they care about the unity of Russia as a nation, and believe that Russia is surrounded by imperialism that is aiming to crush the country. A new generation has grown up on this culture. They happily participate in the military act against the damned Europe with its gay values and I don't know what else. One never knows. Is the country now split up into a large body of patriots and a tiny group of sane people?"
It seems to me that the patriots are far from insane, considering that it was the EU/US who instigated the trouble in Ukraine preparing it over many years. The "problem" with Russia is that it doesn't just give in to the EU/US chaos rulers and why should it? Besides Europe needs help if it is to get away from being bullied into submission by the US as some politicians in the EU are slowly realizing. Time will show if Europe is able to genuinely appreciate the offer.
