Cheated bank depositors clash with police in front of Poroshenko's office building
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/06/cheated-bank-depositors-clash-with.html

On the morning of June 28 in Kiev near the building of the Poroshenko Administration there were clashes between police and deceived investors of the Mikhailovsky Bank, who had gathered to convey their indignation to the head of the Ukrainian State.

Investors tried to break through to the Presidential Administration, but on their way police lines were set up, which were very tough against the assembled crowds.

As a result, clashes took place between police and protesters, one of the organizers of the protests, Alexander Gorbachev, was detained.

The Federal Office for Information Security of Germany (BSI) believes that the last large-scale cyber attack originated from the territory of Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the Office.

German Intelligence Confirms That The Cyber Attack Originated From Ukraine, Total Disruption On A Global Scale
http://novorossia.today/according-german-intelligence-large-scale-cyber-attack-originated-ukraine-disruption-global-scale/

The source and main direction of cyberattacks, apparently, are in Ukraine, although the attack has led to consequences on a global scale. According to reports, malware was distributed through the update function via the reporting program MeDoc widespread in Ukraine. BSI considers this thesis plausible,’ the statement said.

In Germany, it was noted that the wave of attacks that had hit the information systems of many companies and organizations around the world, continued.

‘In some cases, the attack led to significant consequences in the field of production and to the disruption of critical business processes of affected enterprises,’ German experts said, adding that German companies were among the victims.

‘BSI is in contact with them, but due to confidentiality, the agency does not provide data on them,’ the statement said

Police in Ukraine have seized the servers of one of the largest accounting software firms in the country, after it was suspected that a malware virus which hit dozens of global enterprises last week had spread via its malicious update.

Ukrainian software firm suspected of spreading global virus, servers seized
https://www.rt.com/news/395305-ukrainian-firm-servers-seized-cyber-attack/

As part of an investigation into one of the largest recent cyber attacks, the servers of Ukraine's most popular accounting software, M.E.Doc were seized by Ukrainian police Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing the head of Ukraine's Cyber Police, Sergey Demedyuk.

Cyber Police spokeswoman Yulia Kvitko confirmed an ongoing investigation into M.E.Doc's offices.

Ukrainian intelligence officials and security firms experts believe initial infections, which affected thousands of computers worldwide, might have been spread via the accounting firm’s updates, Reuters reports.

While it is still unclear who inserted a vulnerability into the M.E.Doc program, the Kiev-based firm whose software is used by around 80 percent of companies in Ukraine is under investigation itself and will face criminal charges, AP reported citing Demedyuk.

M.E.Doc's employees had dismissed repeated warnings about the security of their information technology infrastructure, Demedyuk said in an interview with the news agency.

"They knew about it... They were told many times by various anti-virus firms," he told AP, adding, "for this neglect, the people in this case will face criminal responsibility."

The company whose software allows some 400,000 clients to manage financial documents between internal departments, as well as file them with the Ukrainian state tax service, had initially acknowledged having been hacked, but then deleted its statement, according to AP.

On Tuesday, the Ukrainian government said it would submit a draft law to parliament for the country's tax deadline to be extended this year, as many companies missed it because of the attack.

Last week, dozens of companies in various parts of the world were attacked by ransomware, believed to have originated from Ukraine. In Ukraine itself, the massive cyber attacks targeted the government, banks and airports, and even partly knocked out some radiation monitoring equipment at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The next 1.9 billion USD tranche of financial aid to Ukraine under the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) bailout program will be delayed until at least the end of the year.

Ukraine Struggles With Reforms to Receive 'Dangerous Money' From IMF
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201707051055251732-ukraine-imf-bailout-reforms/

In an interview with Bloomberg, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that the parliament will not pass all of the required reforms, including a land reform, until its summer recess.

"We won’t make it by the recess," Groysman said, referring to the land bill, which may be approved by the end of the year.

"We’re working on the reforms and the fifth tranche will arrive," the Prime Minister added.

In 2015, the IMF adopted a $17.5 billion four-year bailout plan for Ukraine, which requires the implementation of economic reforms.

In May, the IMF laid down two conditions Kiev must meet to receive the fifth tranche, including land reform and pension reform. The Ukrainian government has partially met the requirements. In early June, the IMF and the World Bank approved Ukraine’s pension bill.

At the same time, the land reform plan has faced fierce public opposition in Ukraine. The plan presumes lifting a moratorium on the free sale of land. Many in Ukraine fear that as a result Ukrainian speculators will start buying up land on the cheap.

According to Russian political analyst Vladimir Kornilov, the issue of land reform is part of the bargaining between Kiev and the IMF.

"Land reform has been the stumbling block in this whole story with IMF tranches. This is a repeating story. The parliament passes a law on the moratorium [on free sale of land] and tells the IMF that it will remove it. Then, the government understands that the reform will spark public anger and delays the decision again. The IMF uses the situation to delay another tranche, but then allocates it," Kornilov told Radio Sputnik.

In turn, Oleg Soskin, head of a Kiev-based think-tank, the Institute for Public Transformation, warned that Ukraine should be cautious with the IMF money.

"Ukraine does not need this money because the terms [of the bailout] are extremely stringent. On average, Ukraine will have to pay the IMF twice [the amount it borrows]. But how can these billions can be returned if the money has mostly been embezzled? In 2017, Ukraine must return nearly $9 billion, but there is no money. The GDP is dropping and there is no growth in manufacturing," Soskin told Radio Sputnik in a separate interview.

Commenting on the proposed land reform, the expert suggested that it is unlikely to be implemented.

"There will be no sale of land. Polls reveal that up to 45 percent of respondents are ready to take to the streets to protest against reform. No one wants a peasant revolt," Soskin said.

According to him, the current political situation in Ukraine will not allow for the IMF’s requirements to be met.

"A new majority is currently taking shape in the parliament and those lawmakers are against the pension reform and the free sale of farmland. The IMF money is dangerous and it’s better not to touch it," Soskin said.

Although one of the provisions of the Minsk Agreements is the withdrawal of all foreign military entities from Donbass, Ukraine and its Western allies headed by the US continue to relentlessly allege a Russian military presence in the region. For its part, Russia has denied such allegations, responding that it is an observer country to the same extent that the other countries that signed the Minsk Agreements are, i.e., Germany and France.

American "volunteers" spotted in Ukrainian-occupied Donbass
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/american-volunteers-spotted-in.html

However, reports periodically come from Donbass which allow us to take a fresh, sober look at the real situation on the ground there. Just recently in conversation with Donbass militia volunteers, I repeatedly heard accounts of Western troops present in the ranks of the Ukrainian army in the capacity of instructors or as active fighters. Meanwhile, the Americans and Canadians do not hide the fact that they are training the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ units (such as at the Yavoriv polygon in the Lvov region), but they categorically refuse to admit that their servicemen (usually from commando units) are present at the frontline and fighting on the side of the UAF. On the other hand, my friends from the DPR army have reported that they have especially often observed Canadian and Polish troops present at the frontline.

Fresh information just arrived the other day from the Lugansk People’s Republic. The LPR's Ministry of Internal Affairs’ hotline received a call from a resident of the town of Popasnaya (under Ukrainian control), who said that English-speaking, foreign troops have appeared in the town. The caller described them as dressed in white and grey NATO camouflage and armed with foreign small arms.

LPR intelligence sources have since released the following report: “According to preliminary findings, the unknown troops in question are US citizens and call themselves American volunteers. They have brought with them some kind of electronic equipment stored in metal boxes and suitcases. At the present moment, these mercenaries are awaiting the arrival of voltage converters since their hardware is not designed to work with 220 voltage networks.”

While accusing Russia of meddling in the conflict in Donbass, the Americans, Canadians, and their European NATO allies are directly involved in the conflict, specializing in training the UAF in sabotage and terroristic warfare, as well as electronic intelligence and radio-electronic warfare. The UAF does not wield such expertise and equipment in the likes of what the American army and NATO countries’ armies boast - and which has now apparently surfaced in Donbass.

In reading the above and with notice of the embedded troops on the front line, and having followed Canada's involvement in aiding and abetting the criminal actions of the war in Ukraine against the East, I can't recall statements saying Canadian soldiers had actually died there - no press. However, and the legitimacy of this article cannot yet be confirmed, nor can I find a cross reference to dead Canadian soldiers (although these are 'special' mercenary type soldiers which would be no doubt there). This article says that 11 Canadian soldiers were shipped back to Canada in body bags in 2016 (Sept 13/9) from the Donbass front. The article in the link does not allow for copy paste (not sure why). The title of the article reads:

The site states that "We Are Not Pro-Russian, We Are Russian"

The article mentions the Canadian military attache in Ukraine Col Ron Ubbens and the reconnaissance groups of CANSOFCOM (20 people in 3 recon groups) related to the Ukrainian punisher operation. The group is embedded within the Canadian Security Intelligence Services aka CISIS. The article does not mention that it was CISIS who was caught running girls via Jordan into Syria at one point and they were called out in the press, yet the information died in parliament.

11 Canadian Mercenaries Go Home in Body Bags After "Master Class" in Donbass

Voyageur, I remember Posting an article on that incident but wasn't able to locate it doing a search in the Forum. I would have to go through this thread to locate the article, which if I remember correctly, was from the Fort Russ website? If memory severs me, the 11 Canadians were advisors and were only in Ukraine for 2 or 3 days and were still setting up camp - when they were ambushed and killed - and sent back to Canada in body bags? There was only - the one report and nothing on other sites like Sputnik or RT to collaborate it?

The Ukrainian military has again attacked civilian infrastructure in the war-ravaged Donbass – and Russian authorities are seeking to charge the offending troops with using banned combat methods. The potential war crime has gone unmentioned in the mainstream media, in keeping with its silence on Ukraine's conduct since the conflict started.

Ukraine Military Shells Civilian Infrastructure in Donbass as War Crimes Rage On
https://sputniknews.com/military/201707071055335071-ukraine-donbass-war-crimes/

The Russian Federation's Investigative Committee is not taking the assault lying down — in a statement, the body said it will attempt to prosecute the perpetrators with using banned methods and means of warfare, under Part 1 st.356 of the Russian Criminal Code.

In the attack, Ukrainian troops carried out artillery strikes on civilian areas in Staromykhailivka and between June 23 — June 28. The shelling killed local residents, injured children, and damaged several residential houses.

Evidently, the government of Ukraine continues to regard the refusal of the region's population to recognize its legitimacy, and desire to create their own administrative-territorial formations, as crimes punishable by death.

The attacks were in direct contravention of the Mink Agreements — protocols that demand the termination of battle in south-east Ukraine — and the Geneva Convention's rules on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

However, while such news is undoubtedly shocking to the outside world, residents are by 2017 used to frequent ceasefire violations by Ukrainian forces — forces which have enjoyed total impunity for innumerable breaches of international humanitarian law, including war crimes, such as the use of torture.

In February 2016, the State Investigation Bureau was formally created to investigate crimes committed by law enforcement officials and the military, but it has focused primarily on attempting to prosecute members of President Viktor Yanukovych's administration.

As of June 2017, no arrests or prosecutions have been successfully made.

The UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) suspended its visit to Ukraine in May 2016, after the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) denied it access to its facilities in eastern Ukraine where secret prisoners — many of them innocent civilians — are held and allegedly subjected to torture and other ill-treatment. The SPT was only allowed to complete its visit in September — and the government blocked the publication of its report.

Ukraine conducted unlawful detention of individuals perceived to support the other side, including for use in prisoner exchanges. The long-awaited State Investigation Bureau, intended to investigate violations by the military and law enforcement officials, was formally established but not operational by the end of the year.

Media outlets that have dared criticize the conduct of authorities have faced harassment, including state-sanctioned threats of closure or physical violence — and dozens of individuals with histories of independent reporting (or, critics claim, "pro-Russian" sympathies) have been murdered during the course of the conflict.

Most notably, in April 2015, Oles Buzina was shot dead by two masked gunmen — and in July 2016, journalist Pavel Sheremet, an ethnic Belarusian and Russian citizen, was killed in a giant car bomb attack. In both cases, the perpetrators are yet to be identified, although there are suggestions of state involvement, or sponsorship.

Such developments have perhaps unsurprisingly led some observers to label Kiev a "mass grave" for journalists.

Others have been slightly luckier. The TV channel Inter has repeatedly been threatened with closure by the Ukrainian Interior Minister, and on 4 September 2016, 15 men attempted forcefully, but unsuccessfully, to enter the channel's premises. They then threw petrol bombs into the building.

Popular TV presenter Savik Shuster had his work permit annulled by the Ukrainian Migration Service, in violation of existing procedure, and criminal proceedings were launched against his TV channel 3STV. In December 2016, Shuster closed the channel due to fears of further reprisal.

Ruslan Kotsaba, a freelance journalist, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail in May 2016 for "obstructing legitimate activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a special period" — a legalistic euphemism for posting a video on YouTube demanding an immediate end to Ukrainian military activities in Donbass and called on Ukrainian men to resist conscription.

At the negotiation talks in Minsk, the Ukraine has disrupted the plan for a large exchange of prisoners. The vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Gerashchenko, made such a statement that the delegations of Russia and the Republics of Donbass had to leave the meeting.

Ukraine backs out of exchange of prisoners with Donbass
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/ukraine-backs-out-of-exchange-of.html

"Irina Gerashchenko said that Kiev will hold talks on the exchange of prisoners only with the OSCE and not the" Russian occupier." In response, representatives of the Republic left the talks with the representative of the Russian Federation ", - said the Lugansk head of the working group on the exchange of prisoners of war, Olga Kobtseva.

Parliament Speaker pf the DPR, Denis Pushilin, expressed outrage at the Ukrainian side. "Parties had to work hard to achieve results as quickly as possible. Mothers of children who are prisoners and other participants in the process had to overcome hundreds and even thousands of kilometers to collect them. Those months of languishing in the dungeons of Ukrainian prisons (often on spurious pretexts, or political reasons), subjected to degrading treatment, torture, without adequate health care, they deserve freedom. But Ukraine continues to delay the process, pushing more and more conditions that complicate the exchange. Moreover, the Ukrainian side did not consider it necessary to take into account not only the opinion of LPR, but the opinion of international humanitarian and human rights organizations."

The delegation was forced to leave the meeting of the subgroup on humanitarian issues because of the refusal of the Ukrainian side to the exchange.

The next meeting of negotiators will be held on July 19.

Had a listen to an interview with Professor Nicolai Petro, mostly on Ukraine (he has written a new book titled 'Ukraine in Crisis') including the dynamic between Trump and U.S. Russia relations. Petro joins the interview around the 2 minute mark.

Western powers fuel the Ukrainian conflict -- and wider tensions with Russia -- by treating Ukraine as a strategic prize, says Nicolai Petro, Silvia-Chandley professor of Peace Studies and Nonviolence at the University of Rhode Island

For anyone interested, here is a link to the abstract of Petro's book 'Ukraine in Crisis' quoted below - if you are with an institution it sounds like you can access his articles, citations and have access to the book:

ABSTRACT

In this special issue a distinguished group of Canadian, Ukrainian, and American scholars examine various aspects of the Ukrainian crisis, and consider its impact on Europe. Topics include Russian narratives about Ukraine; the conflicting assumptions underlying their divergent nation-building agendas; new findings about the far right's involvement in the Maidan protests; the Ukrainian crisis from the perspective of Western grand strategy; the security implications of Russia's geopolitical agenda in Ukraine; the factors that contributed to the rise of separatism in Donbass; and the economic costs for Ukraine of choosing economic integration with Europe rather than Eurasia. Two persistent threads emerge throughout this discussion. The first is that the current crisis in Ukraine is much more complex than comes across in the media. The second is that since Russia and Ukraine will always be neighbors, some sort of modus vivendi between them will have to be found.

When looks back more than three years, then NATO has cemented its foothold on Ukraine, at least on the surface of things. Will Ukraine be a member of NATO in three years? If the western powers, and their populations keep on excusing all the nonsense that is going on in Ukraine at the level they have been doing so far, then why not?

Though I would throw this up from Roger Annis, New Cold War (July 12/17) https://www.newcoldwar.org/commentator-left-wing-counterpunch-compares-ukraine-failed-african-states-says-poroshenko-refuse-calls-decentralization/

Writing from federal Germany, which is an ally of the federal United States and federal Canada, a writer in the left-wing online publication CounterPunch on July 12 pens an essay (linked here https://www.newcoldwar.org/commentator-left-wing-counterpunch-compares-ukraine-failed-african-states-says-poroshenko-refuse-calls-decentralization/ ) arguing that a decentralized, federal Ukraine is a doomed project. The writer cites failed states in Africa as his argument.

The article is titled, ‘Postcolonial Ukraine: Why federalization is not an option for Kiev’.

Ukraine borders the Russian Federation, which, like Canada and the United States, has stable political rule thanks in part to its federal system of government. (I leave aside the deep economic inequalities which mark all three countries–that’s a different problem.)

The writer argues that all federal states based on “colonial borders” fail. He uses Africa as proof. But the argument quickly falls flat.

For one, conveniently for his argument, the writer fails to mention the long history of imperialist intervention in Africa aiming to subvert political sovereignty. That intervention showed no particular favoritism for centralized or less-centralized post-colonial states and it’s by far the main reason why the African continent has so many governments and states that fail to meet to human needs of their populations.[1]

As regards Ukraine’s “colonial” history, the writer’s argument is utterly false and inaccurate. He writes, “Ukraine is the result of imperial rivalries of the 19th century and the Soviet expansion [sic] after the two world wars.” But Ukraine’s modern independence dates from 1917-18. The country was born of the intertwined Russian-Ukrainian revolutions of those years. It became a multilingual and multinational entity in its own right and joined the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics upon the USSR’s founding in 1922. The writer’s contrary description is wildly inaccurate.

The writer voices sympathy for Ukraine’s right-wing rulers, explaining that they “fear the centrifugal forces” of federalization because they are too weak to “contain” it. Contain it from what? We are left in the dark. Presumably he is referring to something that was not ‘contained’ in Africa and led to the downfall of sovereign states there. It’s a bizarre construct.

The writer concludes with some right-wing advice of his own for the Ukrainian government: “To share this resource of power [federal state power] would be political and economic suicide for Poroshenko.”

The essay opened with “Ukraine shares many similarities with Africa’s post-colonial states.” He might just as well have argued that because the Earth and the Moon consist of rocks, “Ukraine shares many similarities with the Moon.”

Back in the real world, the people of eastern Ukraine (Donbass) as well as Crimea argued in post-1991 independent Ukraine for a more democratic and less centralized constitution and system of government. That would include equal language rights for the many languages of the country. But those demands went unheeded. The Russian language remained prominent during this time due to simple economic and political realities and thanks to the open and tolerant views of most Ukrainian citizens.

The intransigence not to speak of violence of the new right-wing government in Kyiv that came into power in February 2014 made Crimea’s secession from Ukraine all but inevitable. This is also why a federal outcome for the conflict in Donbass is becoming less and less likely. That leaves the people there in limbo because due to extreme pressure from the imperialist countries and their NATO military alliance, the Russia government is hard-pressed to accept what would otherwise be a very acceptable outcome for most Donbass resident–integration into the Russian Federation.

This state of limbo in Donbass is a tragedy for the people living there because for the past three years, they have suffered relentless, NATO-encouraged military aggression from Ukraine. It’s a double tragedy because there are periods of Ukraine’s post-1917 history which provide positive examples of cooperation among peoples of different languages and national backgrounds. The world needs more, not less, of that. Perhaps CounterPunch editors can use such sentiment to guide their choices of future articles on Ukraine.

Note:
[1] Coincidentally, the new French president, Emmanuel Macron, has offered his own opinion of why there is so much poverty in Africa and why governments don’t seem to help. In his case, his view is racist and sexist to the core: African women have too many babies, he says.

On July 1st, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 394 from June 7th went into effect, thereby ending state regulation of food prices.

Recipe for Famine: Ukraine to face up to 50% food price hikes
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/recipe-for-famine-ukraine-to-face-up-to.html

With this resolution, the Cabinet of Ministers effectively abolished the previous regulatory system according to which food producers were required by law to justify in front of the State Procurement Service any changes in the wholesale prices of their products. The previous list of such "social products” approved in 2008 was regulated, which meant that it prevented marginal trade mark-ups on food prices from exceeding 15% of the manufacturer's wholesale price. Such basic products as flour, bread, pasta, cereals, sugar, beef, pork, poultry, boiled sausages, milk, cheese, sour cream, butter, sunflower oil, and chicken eggs fell under this category. In addition, the state set marginal levels of profitability and trade allowances in the amount of not more than 20% for baby food, fees for services provided in retail facilities, and profitability standards on markets for food sale and non-food products.

The justification for the cancellation of such regulations is, as always, beautifully stated on paper as being for "reducing administrative pressure on business, eliminating excessive state interference in economic processes, developing competition and getting rid of the excessive bureaucracy in the pricing field." It was implied that prices would even fall depending on market fluctuations.

[...] The price increase will not be felt from July 1st, but, for example, from August 1st. The regulation of food prices is only a safety device which we used to have and no longer have. The question is wether there will simply be speculation, which we will be able to see in September. Prices are still rising now, but we do not see big leaps. It usually happens just in September, though. And we will see an increase in prices not by 5-10%, but by 20-50%,” Aleksei Doroshenko, the Chairman of the Association of Trade Networks, said on UNN.

The Human Rights Commissioner of the DPR, Daria Morozova, held talks with the chairman of the Monitoring Mission of the UN on Human Rights in Ukraine, Fiona Fraser.

UN handed evidence of torture by Ukraine in the Donbass
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/un-handed-evidence-of-torture-by.html

"During the meeting the parties discussed the issues of missing persons, victims of torture Ukrainian security officials, as well as the exchange of prisoners of war", - said the press-service.

It is noted that Fraser had been handed documents "indicating the use of illegal methods of inquiry on the part of representatives of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies."

As for the search for missing persons, emphasis was made on the need for cooperation and collaboration with the Ukrainian side in the exchange of DNA banks, in order to identify the bodies.

Reminder that on 6 July in Minsk, the Ukrainian representatives thwarted the planned discussion on the exchange of prisoners, and expressed reluctance to comply with their obligations. Donbass representatives were forced to leave the working session.

Ukrainian oligarch, ex-governor of the Donetsk region Sergey Taruta called for the continuation of sabotage in the Donbass. He stated this on the air of Ukrainian channel 112.

Ukrainian oligarch calls for continuation of terrorism in Donbass
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/ukrainian-oligarch-calls-for.html

"Guerrilla warfare must go on. It should be planned from here and transferred to the military professionals who would be involved in sabotage, as we did when there was a war. It was not a grassroots movements but arose the center (government). Therefore, Kiev's mission is to organize, motivate and ensure the supply of arms and everything else" - Taruta said.

The 19th EU-Ukraine summit in Kiev has uncharacteristically failed to result in any joint statement announcing the parties' declared plans for further cooperation. An expert told Sputnik that it reveals deep rifts between the block and the country which it does not want to see among its ranks for very particular reasons.

Knocking on the EU's Doors: Europe Now in Fear of Project It Launched in Ukraine
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201707141055539450-ukraine-eu-summit/

The 19th EU-Ukraine summit, which wrapped up in Kiev on Thursday, summed up the results of joint work on the reforms in Ukraine and the development of bilateral relations, but failed to deliver any joint statement, traditional document for such events, in which the parties declare plans for further cooperation, reportedly due to disagreements within the bloc on the vision of future relations with Ukraine, which aspires to ever become a member of the European Union.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in the presence of EU leaders, the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, and the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, among others, several times stressed the country's European aspirations and proposed to draw up a "road map" for Ukraine's integration into the EU.

European colleagues did not respond to this initiative. The head of the European Council Donald Tusk stressed that the main document in the relations of the two sides at this stage is an association agreement, which will enter into force on September 1.

According to the Evropeiskaya Pravda media outlet, Kiev insisted that the joint statement should refer to a phrase from the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement that "the European Union acknowledges the European aspirations of Ukraine and welcomes its European choice, including its commitment to building a deep and sustainable democracy and a market economy."

However, the EU categorically opposed this allegedly because of disagreements on this issue among the members of the union.

The Netherlands demanded the addition of new restrictions to the Ukraine's European dream. The Hague was supported by several other countries, and eventually the negotiations simply broke off, and the Council of the European Union at the ambassadorial level decided that the draft (statement) prepared for the summit should go to trash bin, the publication reported.

Donald Tusk avoided the answer to the question on failure to adopt a joint statement at the end of the 19th EU-Ukraine Summit.

He further elaborated that all of the European officials had unequivocally stated that the issue of the Eurointegration is purely about the Ukrainian market, its territory and those aims that were put before Ukraine. The EU membership of Ukraine had never been on the agenda.

By Putin's example? Poroshenko fires 25 high ranking officials
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/by-putins-example-poroshenko-fires-25.html

They say copying is the highest form of flattery...

Based on the results of an investigation, 25 managers of public enterprises in the Ukrainian defense industry have been dismissed on charges of corruption.

This was stated by Petro Poroshenko at the Lvov armour plant.

We have prevented the potential theft of 631 million Ukrainian hryvna. As Commander in Chief and the President of Ukraine, I will not let anyone rob the army and will not allow anyone to 'warm their hands' on the supplies to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, "- Poroshenko said.

President Putin is known for publicly firing corrupt officials, which works in favour of his popularity among the public. The difference is that Russia's president enjoys an overwhelmingly high public support anyway, which is not something the Poroshenko regime can claim in the Ukraine.

MILITARY SITUATION REPORT/VIDEO FROM THE HIGH COMMAND OF THE DPR PEOPLE’S ARMY COL. BASURIN

More Desertions And Missing Among The Toy Soldiers Of The Nazi Ukraine Junta, 70 Gone AWOL From The Elite 87th Airmobile Battalion ! (Report/Video Col. Basurin)
http://novorossia.today/desertions-missing-among-toy-soldiers-nazi-ukraine-junta-70-gone-awol-elite-87th-airmobile-battalion-report-video-col-basurin/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFHsUlDHVcw (3:34 min.)

There is noted a growing panic among the Nazi Ukraine Units (AFU) servicemen, as well as an increase in the number of objectors in units sent by rotation to the so-called ‘ATO’ zone. Thus, to date, more than 70 servicemen have deserted from the 87th separate airmobile battalion, belonging to the AFU elite. Basically, they are formerly mobilized soldiers, with whom the unit commander Rimarchuk fraudulently concluded contracts without their consent. Information on the most part of the deserted military personnel Rimarchuk is being concealed from the supreme command.

The Nazi Ukrainian Military keeps violating the “harvest truce.”

In the Donetsk direction, the enemy targeted 15 localities and adjacent areas with five artillery projectiles of 152mm calibre and 24of 122mm calibre, 16 tank rounds, 75 mortar shells of 120mm calibre and 70 of 82mm calibre.

I would like to once again draw the world’s attention to the criminal nature of the actions conducted by the Nazi Ukrainian military. Yesterday, on July 15, at the orders of the commander of the 55th separate artillery brigade, war criminal Brusov, the enemy fired at the DPR territory with 152mm and 122mm artillery from the positions stationed in the residential districts of Krasnogorovka. These actions by Ukrainian criminals are aimed at provoking the DPR Armed Forces into opening response fire whilst events dedicated to the Day of the Metallurgist were taking place in the locality. But I want to note that the DPR units are observing the “harvest truce” and will continue doing this, as well as all the previously reached agreements on the ceasefire regime.

We hope that representatives of the OSCE Mission will take all the necessary measures and demand from the Nazi Ukrainian Military to withdraw heavy weapons, increasingly used by the AFU.

In the Mariupol direction, the enemy fired at six localities and adjacent areas, applying 23 artillery projectiles of 122mm calibre and 25 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibres.

In total, 57 occasions of violations of the ceasefire regime by the Nazi Ukrainian Armed Forces were registered over the past day.

One soldier was wounded whilst fulfilling his duty on protection of the Republic.

Our reconnaissance continues detecting an increase in the number of weapons banned by the Minsk agreements on the contact line. Thus, near Mariupol (16 km to the contact line), there was detected the concentration of 24 tanks.

A strategic US Air Force RQ-4A Global Hawk drone has been recorded over the Donbass. This information appeared on websites that track the flights of military aircraft.

Not meddling? US drone spies over Donbass
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/not-meddling-us-drone-spies-over-donbass.html

It clarifies that the drone took off from Sigonella airbase in Sicily. The drone was committed to many hours in a reconnaissance flight at an altitude of 16.7 thousand meters along the line of demarcation between Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic. The drone did not try to cross the line. Nevertheless, at this height the unit can monitor the entire territory of the DPR and LPR, as well as the border regions of Russia.

The government of Ukraine reaffirmed its desire to join NATO. The alliance said the door is open for Kiev. It’s an idea that only grows worse with age.

Ukraine In NATO? America Should Reject A Bad Idea That Only Grows Worse With Age
https://www.forbes.com/sites/dougbandow/2017/07/14/ukraine-in-nato-america-should-reject-a-bad-idea-that-only-grows-worse-with-age/#2e1746c59672

Earlier this week Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Kiev, proclaiming that “Ukraine has clearly defined its political future and its future in the sphere of security,” as part of the transatlantic alliance. Discussions are to begin on a Membership Action Plan and, Petroshenko added, his government would pursue reforms in order to “have a clear schedule of what must be done by 2020 to meet the NATO membership criteria.”

Stoltenberg was noncommittal but positive: “NATO will continue to support Ukraine on the path towards a close relationship with NATO, to implementing reforms and to meeting NATO standards.” A membership decision would be up to “the allies and Ukraine to decide, no one else has a right to veto such a process.” Moreover, he added, “NATO will continue to provide Ukraine with practical support.”

It’s easy to understand why a majority of Ukrainians want NATO’s protection. They really want America’s protection. And who wouldn’t like the global superpower to take over one’s defense? Their country established its first contact with the alliance in 1991 when Ukraine joined the North Atlantic Cooperation Council. Since then Kiev has received aid and support while contributing troops to some allied operations.

NATO worked great for the Western Europeans during the Cold War. Since then Central and Eastern European nations have clambered on board. The Baltic States too. Even Montenegro got on the gravy train earlier this year, despite doing nothing to make America more secure. With European countries continuing to lag well behind the U.S. in military outlays as well as spending as a percentage of GDP, Kiev recognized the sweet deal to be had.

Western officials insist that no third party, i.e., Russia, has any say on who joins the alliance. That’s fine as far as it goes. But that isn’t very far. Neither should the nation seeking to enter have a say. NATO should add nations only if they increase the security of the whole.

And given the fact that the U.S. would do most of the heavy lifting in any conflict with nuclear-armed Russia, the critical question for Washington is whether adding a new member would increase Americans’ security. Montenegro, a bit like the Duchy of Grand Fenwick of the novel The Mouse that Roared, is largely a nullity, a microstate with 2000 men under arms threatened by no one. Podgorica’s membership didn’t help America, but it probably didn’t hurt much either.

In concert with its key partners, Kiev is drafting a bill on the reintegration of Donbass, Konstantin Elisseyev, deputy head of the administration of the Ukrainian president, told Ukrainian Radio Liberty.

Kiev counts on reintegration of Donbass with help from US, Germany, and France
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/kiev-counts-on-reintegration-of-donbass.html

According to Konstantin Elisseyev, the drafting of the document is taking place in consultation with the United States, Germany, and France.

The secretary of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Council, Alexander Turchinov, said on Monday (10 July) that President Petro Poroshenko had ordered consultations on the law with the countries of the Normandy format before submitting it in September, for the consideration of the Rada (Ukrainian parliament).

"In accordance with yesterday's instruction from the Security and National Defense Council, we are working with our key partners, primarily with the United States, Germany, and France, to coordinate the project. We have already received a heartfelt response from our partners. The work will be continued," said Mr Elisseyev.

According to him, the main objective of the draft law is to show that the President's strategy and policy aim to redress and reintegrate the territories in question through diplomatic and political channels and on the basis of the Minsk agreements.

Yet the Ukrainian President had previously announced a draft law on the reinstatement of the Donbass which considered it an "occupied" territory, and provided for the format of a "military operation." However, this text has not been published.

Boris Gryzlov, a Russian representative in the contact group on Ukraine, believes that the draft law on the reinstatement of the Donbass constitutes an attempt to create an alternative to the Minsk accords and that it favors the settlement of the conflict by force of weapons to the detriment of a political settlement.

The self-proclaimed republics of Lugansk and Donetsk stated that the settlement of the conflict should be based on the Minsk accords and that any other scenario was unacceptable.

In April 2014, Kiev began a military operation against the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, which had proclaimed independence after the Ukrainian coup in February 2014. According to the UN it has already caused more than 10,000 deaths.

The former Prime Minister of Ukraine (until 2014), Mykola Azarov, has spoken of his plans to return to Ukraine from Russia, where he fled to post-Maidan.

Run, Petro, Run! Is Poroshenko preparing to flee?
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/07/run-petro-run-is-poroshenko-preparing.html

"Everything points to the fact that the regime of Petro Poroshenko soon may change," - Azarov said.

He added that to return home today is not possible, the Ukraine is now flooded with "terror, intimidation of dissenters, the massacre of the opposition."

In turn, the Director of the Eurasian Research Center, Vladimir Kornilov, said that today the transfer of power in a democratic way is impossible in Ukraine, and in the country is once again brewing revolutionary sentiments.

According to him, Poroshenko and his team "from the early days, understood that they are here temporarily, to behave accordingly."

"Sooner or later, and probably sooner - they will have to escape from the Ukraine. They are actively preparing for this. There is no mechanism for the change of power in a democratic way, so all sides of the political struggle are preparing for violent opposition, even if everything is dressed with the "Election" sauce ", - the expert believes.

Of course this wouldn't be the first time a head of state simply runs away. For example, with the help of his friend US Senator McCain, former President of Georgia, Saakashvilli has a warrant out for his arrest in his native Georgia. In contravention to any lawful principles, the failed president escaped to Ukraine to become governor of Odessa in 2015.

On the eve of negotiations with the US on the Donbass problem, Sergey Lavrov outlined Russia’s position on Ukraine as a whole. In fact, Moscow suggests that the West ‘close the Ukrainian project’ and return it to where it historically belongs, namely in the zone of Russian influence. And it’s hard not to notice the malice in the remark that otherwise the Kremlin is ready to wait and return to this conversation in another few years.

Ukraine Belongs To Russia, Ukraine Is Russia’s Business, Everyone Needs To Back Off ! (Map)
http://novorossia.today/ukraine-belongs-russia-ukraine-russias-business-everyone-needs-back-off/

On Sunday, as part of an interview with one of the federal television channels, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, made a number of landmark statements on a wide range of foreign policy issues. Among the most noteworthy are those that relate to the Ukrainian crisis. As you know, the fighting situation on the contact line in Donbass is still very difficult.

Official rhetoric of Moscow on this issue is characterized by an increased level of rigidity, in places passing into a very ambiguous irony. In this connection, it is sufficient to recall the recent comment by the Russian president’s spokesman that the Kremlin does not ‘count ammunition’ the militia has, but only hopes that ‘they will have enough of it to respond to the aggressive actions of the Ukrainian armed forces’. The key points of the voiced position of the Russian Foreign Minister were the following:

Firstly, the imposition of the full responsibility for the current military exacerbation on the Ukrainian side. At the same time it is emphasized that to a large extent, the escalation has been provoked by the volunteer battalions which, in fact, are not subject to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Secondly, it is not just a distanced but rather contemptuous attitude towards the Kiev authorities, which was expressed in the comment about the lack of Sergey Lavrov’s intentions to appeal to the conscience of his Ukrainian colleague, Pavel Klimkin (and other representatives of the Ukrainian authorities).

Thirdly the removal of a significant share of responsibility for what is happening, from the West. In particular, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the objectivity and impartiality of the OSCE mission which can no longer ‘shield’ the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the volunteer battalions. In fact, the Kremlin is consistently driving a wedge between Kiev and forces in the West, supporting it, showing the latter the absolute hopelessness of this project, as a result of which the most reasonable way out would be to quit the game.

Fourthly, the return to the idea of Ukraine’s decentralization as a method of settling the situation. It is interesting that speaking about this, Sergey Lavrov did not appeal to the Minsk Agreements which provide for broad autonomy for the Republics, but to the proposals of April 2014 which, among others, were supported by the Western countries.

At the same time, Lavrov noted that although contacts with the new US administration had already begun, officials of the State Department, with whom it would be possible to discuss the situation in Ukraine, had not yet been appointed.

In fact, in his statements, the Russian foreign minister outlined Russia’s position for the future work with Washington on the Ukrainian issue (Lavrov said in the same interview that his talks with the new head of the State Department, Rex Tillerson, on Donbass were planned for the near future). It should be noted that this position is very tough and boils down to several key points.

Firstly, Ukraine is the zone of influence of Russia. All the rest are invited to abandon the project which has demonstrated its futility in recent years, which only draws finance but does not bring any benefits. In this case, Moscow is ready to “forget and forgive” all the problems that have been caused to it in this regard.

Secondly, Moscow will solve the Ukrainian problem at its discretion. Decentralization will be the instrument of this solution. What this will ultimately lead to, whether the disintegration of Ukraine or re-assembly of the state on new principles, is Russia’s business.

Thirdly, if the West (including the US) is not ready to accept the Russian proposals, Moscow is ready to wait another few years while they continue their “race on rake”. This is how the absolutely transparent (and very snide) hint of Lavrov with reference to the discussion of the spring of 2014 should be regarded.

Three years of hard confrontation and various provocations, and we have eventually returned to the same. Moscow has laid out its cards on the table. Now, it’s Washington’s move.

The article in English has translation of the entire analysis, but just in case here's part 2 of the story in Russian.

Also, despite clear evidence that Navalny has been receiving money and support from various nefarious sources, including CIA, I have a feeling that he is probably also being used to further agenda of all kind of other psycho groups and sources. Many want to go with him simply because he is considered to be an opposition to Putin. Who knows, it could be kind of symbolic on another level. For example, recently I read an interview with Alexander Pichushkin, Russian serial killer (and it was really chilling, as he is without a doubt an essential psychopath), and he remarked that if he could, he would vote for Navalny. Simply because he is opposed to the current political power.

But in general the whole "vote for Navalny" is a clear farce. The deception is that people don't know it or don't realize it that Navalny can't be a candidate for presidency since he has numerous criminal convictions. So the whole "collecting money and support" is a fraud, because those people will never see him in any significant post. He knows it, and other people in power that push him also know it. But he is being a willing tool. It's quite possible that other psycho sources try to push their agenda through him, since he is so willing. Not sure if in this particular case of "suicide groups" he is fully aware of it, though. It would be beyond stupid for him. But then, who knows.
