Complaint!

Hahaha! I know exactly what you mean... half of my energy walking around these days goes to pulling my pants up! It's just... impractical...

I guess the detox literature should come with free suspenders?

The funny thing is that I've gained some weight after going on detox (well, I was mostly on detox, but the weight gain didn't happen until I removed gluten). Prior to this I was 6' 135lbs and now I'm at 145lbs.

I speculate that the gluten was preventing me from absorbing certain foods properly and now I'm at a more normal weight for my height, OSIT.

Hi mocachapeau,

thank you for this! Made me laugh as well.

Thank you, and APRIL FOOL'S!! Cheesy
Okay understood. It's just that I was thinking that perhaps our non English speaking members may not be too sure if it was a joke or not. Smiley

I have to admit, reading it first left me indeed shaking my head, as non English native speaker. But I then remembered, that April 1st is the Fool's day. So, pretty good joke!
As I am about to start the UltraSimple Diet now, I worry, that it will work as "bad" for me as it does for you, mocachapeau.
Well, I am already a very slim woman - my body always had been a good fat burner - and when I start the diet, won't I probably become a skeleton? :scared:  Well, if this ever becomes the case, I will change my forum name from "Learner" to "Skeleton" and take a skeleton as new avatar. :D

But in earnest, the detoxing diet is important enough to try - so I take the risk probably "becoming a skeleton" (or maybe I gain even a little more weight, as Ryanx did) ;)

:lol2:  mocachapeau! By the end of your post, i was sure you were joking!

I have always been very thin myself, and being on the diet for over a year now, i don't see any chance in me getting any weight on. Learner, you might not be the only Skeleton around at some point, i hope you don't mind ;) So far, my weight is stable though.

And i feel more energetic in general, so it is worth it.

Yes, I too had a good belly laugh Mocachapeau :)

No, you won't be the only ones Learner and Alana, I have suffered from that same malady. My weight has dropped like crazy and I was already thin :/ But like Alana, it seems that it has stabilized now. It has been interesting to see people's reaction's though, everyone noticed I was getting progressively thinner but at the same time, I was looking better and healthier.

Me too, it is definitely worth it.

Mind you, you did give us all a clue, using the opening line of Monty Python's Parrot Sketch?

You made me laugh mocachapeau - I too have lost about 28lbs and you hit some wry observations!

I was wondering how many would catch the Python reference. They're my absolute favorites.

And congrats on losing the 28lbs. If you're anything like me are you having less lower back pain? Now THERE'S something to complain about!

:P :P

Exactly! And what a glaring contradiction. On one page we're told to conserve energy, and then we're forced to waste it because of what's written on another. I'm so glad I'm not the only one "seeing through all this".

That's a very good suggestion. This is what networking is all about.

I think what we're seeing here is just another way in which the human body takes care of itself, like self-healing. This diet is not specifically geared toward losing weight, it's purpose is simply to nourish the body with what it was designed to digest properly. If you succeed in doing so, your body will respond by naturally moving toward it's ideal weight. So some people will lose weight and some will gain, all in accordance with our own "body type" and metabolism.

I think what is most important is what Gertrudes wrote, "I was getting progressively thinner but at the same time, I was looking better and healthier". It is, once again, our society that tells us what we are supposed to look like, how much we are supposed to weigh and, most detrimentally, what is beautiful. If we eat properly, our bodies will become healthy and beautiful, each in their own way. Some of us are supposed to be skinny, some are supposed to have more meat on our bones. But we all look our best when we look healthy!

Well, that's what I think.

When i began the detox diet, i did lost some weight going from 74 kilos to 68 kilos. But as soon as the breathing program arrived and I started to do it, and after some time, i did gain some weight and now it is stable at 71 kilos.

Hilarious - thanks for the laugh Mocachapeau!!

BTW - i too have lost a full dress size. After trying desperately for years to lose the mid-life pounds and then finally just giving up - in the last couple of months I have mysteriously dropped ~10lbs  (and I am only 5ft. tall.) I feel better, but I have had to shelve more clothes than I can afford to replace. Maybe FOTCM needs to have a clothing swap or open a resale shop!!!

I do think the diet takes you to your ideal weight. At 5' 5", I've stabilized at about 120 lbs. or so, which is only a few pounds above my old dance weight. I can even put a unitard on without being embarrassed. After a gradual gain to almost 147 (eeek! desk job and menopause are a deadly combination ), it's fantastic.

I too have lots of energy, and reserves if needed, and none of the aches or pains most of my contemporaries complain about. EE and no evil food rules!

Hmmm, an internet clothes swap. Now there's an idea!

I wish to register a complaint!

It's been about six months now since followed your advice and began work on my diet. At the time, my weight was hovering around 200 pounds, and yesterday I weighed in at 176.

Yes, I suppose dropping under 180 for the first time in 15 years is okay, and all. And sure, it feels pretty good to have more energy, and not to have my gut hanging over my belt. But has anyone here at SOTT ever considered the harm this kind of "improvement" can do to people?

I bet no one here ever thought about how this kind of thing could compromise the relationship I've been building with my son. Because of your suggestions I have been forced into a position of "do as I say, not as I do". Can you imagine how hypocritical I look, explaining to my son how unacceptable it is for him to be wearing his pants strapped halfway down his butt, showing his underwear, looking like some kind of street gang punk, while all the while I'm standing there with my pants hanging halfway down my butt, showing my underwear, looking like some kind of street gang punk? I'm losing his respect, and my authority!

Even with my belt in the smallest hole there's still enough room to fit a second person in my pants. And with my financial situation the way it is, I can hardly afford to pay the rent AND replace my pants! I'll be forced to take out a personal loan from the bank just so I don't look like I'm drowning in fabric!

To top it off, finding the time to do the EE program, shop and prepare good food and keep up with my reading, is getting pretty darn difficult now that my wife is suddenly after me for sex all the time! This slimming down is going to KILL me.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves, sharing all these "wonderful" ideas about how to become healthier and be better human beings. It's deplorable, and it's ruining my life!!

THANKS FOR NOTHING, SOTT!!

LOL! mocachapeau! I think you should write for Sott. What do you think?

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences here! You guys just took away some of my last objections to finally really start the diet - step by step. So, if the diet is meant just to adjust the body to its ideal weight that is meant for it, and if one feels really better and healthier (additionally to the results of already practised EE, regarding me), then I give it a try. I actually have to smile, you really got me again - no way to escape! ;D Therefore, one of the next posts of me will be found in the DH-Thread, where I put the remaining questions regarding diet. :)

Hi Perceval,

As a quick response I'd be interested in trying it out, although I've never done anything like that before. I would probably need some kind of guidelines or suggestions, or something. I bookmarked the link you gave me and have read the general purpose. It sounds interesting, and fun.

But at the moment I am running out the door with my wife on some errands. If there is anything else you could tell me at the moment I'll check it out as soon as I get back.

Thanks.

well, bottom line is that if you are a decent writer in general, i.e. you can put your thoughts or ideas down in a half-interesting/engaging and relatively concise way, then all you need is a decent thought or idea.

Well alright then, I'll give it a go. I just don't know how long it will take me to have something to hand in. It could take me a while to come up with a good idea, but I imagine checking out the mainstream media on a daily basis would be a good place to start.
