West Coast Storm: Thunder, Snow & Heavy Rain – Epic Spring Blast
Bill Martin West Coast Weather Channel
Unsettled weather is back across California as a late-season spring storm delivers rain, mountain snow, and even a chance of thunderstorms today.

We’re tracking pockets of lightning and thunder, especially this afternoon and evening, with brief heavy downpours possible. In the Sierra, snow levels have dropped and chain controls are likely, with snowfall totals pushing toward a foot in the higher elevations.

This is exactly the kind of storm California needs—productive and widespread. Many areas have already picked up close to an inch of rain, with another half inch possible in parts of Northern, Central, and even some interior Southern California locations.

Southern California will see much lighter impacts overall—cooler temperatures, a few sprinkles, and breezy conditions, but nothing significant.

Temperatures statewide trend cooler as this system moves through, with improving conditions later in the week.

As always, we’ll break it all down with satellite imagery, thunderstorm potential, computer models, and a full California north-to-south forecast—plus a quick look at national travel and today’s Nature Snaps.
