Designer drug to blame for disintegrating euro notes

The Living Force
More than 1,700 crumbling 50 and 20 notes have surfaced in at least 17 German towns and cities since June this year, prompting fears of a potential health risk and speculation about a possible blackmail attempt.

The crumbing note mystery, which causes large holes to appear in euro notes as soon as they are touched, prompted a nationwide investigation by police and the German Bundesbank, which has been obliged to take back hundreds of damaged 50 and 20 notes. Yet nobody blamed drug users for the problem.

My comment, "Quess they copied the formula wrong or tried to build a better mouse trap, if the following article and pictures have any truth to it?"

I have a background as an electronic technician.

In my tweny years involvement with electronics, I have never seen any solid state device explode into flames as the bills did.

I then realised that the explosion and defacement of the bill was not a byproduct of a disintegrating microchip. It is in fact, a primary reason for it. That is, when/if they bring in a cashless society, they have the power to immediately destroy all cash. Thereby eliminating any underground economies.

Rumormill news and Prisonplanet are both well-known disinformation sites - so you might want to take anything you read there with a rather large grain of salt...

Well maybe, but this appeared also on 'official' webnews, like 'Spiegel' and others. Fact is it happens and they don't have a clue.

Very interesting! And now they want to blame it on drugs? That's like blaming all cancers and respiratory illnesses on smoking cigarettes.

Notice the bold text in the end of the article. So this is a real reason behind the "dissappearing euro"? :D
Spend it before it's gone.

THOUSANDS of Germans have been stuffing euro notes up their noses - and destroying not only their health but also the currency, police believe.

They say that the mystery of why euro notes have been falling apart since the summer - many look moth-eaten after only a day in the pocket - is down to an increasing use of crystal methamphetamine. In Germany this drug is fast replacing cocaine as the illegal party substance of choice.

The main variant used in nightclubs is white and goes by the names of "tweak", "tina" or "ice".

The crystals are pulverised and spread on a note that is then rolled up and funnelled into a nostril.

The disintegrating notes have been puzzling police forces across the country and angering ordinary consumers.

The Bundesbank, which normally takes damaged currency, has been very reluctant to take these notes back.

An investigation has begun in different currency storage depots. But so far drug use is the only working explanation for the presence of sulphuric acid. The
