Other than dealing with the cookies it is not very helpful. If I try open pages to learn more, I'll get:

As I have said before I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to techie stuff. I understand that a new computer is probably the quickest yet most unlikely solution at the moment as is someone tech savvy to help.
Basically just letting you all know what is happening, that's all.
I know the warnings are bs but ,hey, it's been flagged by someone as a dangerous site and I'll just have to plod along until I save enough to take other actions. Thanks,

This error does not seem to be appearing for anyone else here.

Try accessing https://cassiopaea.org/forum/ (with the https so that the encryption is activated) instead of http://cassiopaea.org/forum/

Another possibility is that it is an issue with your browser, maybe try accessing the website with another one.

The original safari won't let me do anything and blocks many sites for me the same way. I paid a technician 350 bucks so I could use my email and he installed google chrome as well. It works for my most basic needs but still many sites get blocked.

For $350 it is possible to buy a relatively good new laptop.

If you have the same problem in two different browsers then there is indeed some kind of issue with your computer.
You're probably right. When I'm living on AU$500 a week, it takes time to save.
As for choosing a new computer, I want to be cautious cuz salespeople would sell an igloo to an eskimo if they could.:-)

Most new computers are just fine (except all the surveillance stuff in Windows 10 and 11).

I would rather be careful with repairmen who charge $350 for email access and installing a browser.

@stellar It sounds like the problem is likely caused by running an old version of Chrome (or Safari, etc) because newer versions won't work on your computer - the old browser can't recognise the newer security certificate of the cass forum. (Rather than an actual person somewhere having decided to block access to it).. It should definitely be get-around-able.

First thing - just checking, does your computer's clock show the correct time & date? If somehow the computer clock is wrong, that could cause this problem.

Second - here's an article which shows how to add an exception for a specific web site, so that Chrome will stop complaining about its security certificate: How to Add Trusted Sites in Chrome Mac (Add Exception) | AlfinTech Computer (I don't know if the instructions will be exactly accurate or not, not knowing which version of Chrome you have... also I know it might look daunting or be hard to understand, but check it out, maybe it could help.. and you won't break anything by clicking around & experimenting :))

That sounds about right

Yeah, that's my conclusion as well; along the lines of not being able to watch RT any more. There's probably ways around it which are just above my knowledge.
does your computer's clock show the correct time & date?
It does; eventually. It takes about 2 minutes to activate even when it's only been in sleep mode. Even I'm quicker than that.

I'll give it a go. If you don't hear from me in a couple of days you'll know I found a way to break it.
Thank you Brandon.

Method 2

When you are using this method, the sites on the “Trusted Sites” list will not have cookies, notifications, or pop-ups blocked by your Chromes security settings. This method applies only for the Chrome browser for Mac. For your information, method 1 offers for more advanced access such as secure mail, SSL, IP security and code signing.

  • The first step that you have to do is to open Google Chrome for Mac
  • After that, you need to click on the three dot icon in the top right corner of the Chrome app
  • Then, click Settings
  • Please scroll down and click Show advanced settings.
  • Now, you have to click Content settings. You are going to see the option below the Privacy heading.
  • The next step is to click Manage exceptions.
  • Please type the URL of the site.
  • Ensure the Behavior settings says ‘Allow’. For your information, the Behavior setting is on the right side of the Window. If the Behavior setting says ‘Block’ or ‘Clear on exit’, you have to click the box and then click ‘Allow’.
  • Afterwards, you are able to click Done.
Please repeat this process for other Chrome attributes. As you scroll down, you are going to see the headings such as below:

Pop-ups: This will be able to allow pop-ups regardless of your other Chrome settings.

Location: This will be able to allow you to access your location.

Notifications: The sites will be able to send you notifications related to the site’s content.

  • Lastly, you only need to click Done.

Often this problem occurs because of an outdated operating system or web browser. I would look into upgrading the laptop if at all possible.

I think this one worked. I ended up with a whole list of 'Allow' for cassiopaea.org. Fingers crossed. Thank you for the help, brandon. If I've ballsed it, I'll find out soon enough. :-)

Cool! Fingers crossed.. Let us know if it doesn't fix the problem cos there'll probably be more ideas to try. Old computers are a hobby of mine and needless obsolescence bugs me! (My newest and main computer is currently 14 years old, works great. I sometimes even read the forum on a 32 year old PC, haha. Admittedly in text-only mode, not very practical...just for fun... :P)
