DMSO - Dimethylsulphoxide

Recently i was treated with stem cell therapy for severe osteoarthritis in my knees. During the four month period afterwards, i have been rubbing andiroba and copaiba oil (which i sourced here) on them before bed due to their anti-inflammatory and healing properties. I asked AMD what he thinks about adding a top layer of DMSO. Hope he answers, i know he is super busy.

If he doesn't answer, Therapeutic DMSO Combinations Revolutionize Medicine indicates combining treatments with DMSO is helpful.

I'm planning to use some oral DMSO to help treat my psoriasis. Years ago I considered the possibility but stopped myself after reading this:
Almost all of the psoriatic patients exhibited marked improvement at the end of the first week, but after the period of from ten days to two weeks, we no longer treated psoriatics with DMSO, as the results were disastrous. One patient required hospitalization of an exfoliative erythroderma, and most of the others exhibited a sudden generalized psoriasis of the guttate type. Posttreatment biopsies of psoriatic lesions showed marked accentuation of the histologic features of psoriasis.

However, lately I've been wondering why this would happen and why other cases reported positive results. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the Koebner phenomenon. Simply put, some people with certain skin deseases may see their disease extend to new areas, or worsen, whenever their skin gets damaged for any reason (I can indeed testify to this). And as we know, DMSO can in fact cause more or less strong irritation if insufficiently diluted. So that could easily explain why some people had disastrous results with an excessive concentration and why some cases report very good results, including when dmso was used in conjunction with topical corticosteroids which would suppress the koebner phenomenon, right?

So, since DMSO seems effective in reducing intestinal permeability among other things, I think I'll start with 1 tsp in half a glass of distilled water (so, sufficiently diluted to avoid any possible irritation) once a week, separate from any other substance by at least 45-60 minutes, and see how it goes. Should that prove insufficient I'll think about trying a highly diluted application on the skin. I'll report the results (although I'm also doing a number of other things at the same time, from the diet to Lugol to a number of other supplements, including some to kill any potential candida overgrowth along with biofilm destroyers, so it'll be hard to say what exactly is working, if anything).

Of course if anyone has any advice, like, for example, other substances to take along with dmso that would most assuredly be safe in my condition (I was considering taking a little lugol along with it, for example, but I'm erring on the side of caution for now), I'm always open to it.

I could not read all the pages, the answer may be there but I have a question: I bought dmso but there is no smell. I read here that it smells like garlic. Are there 2 forms of DMSO?
Also, it's been 2 months I use it for various problems, in combination with magnesium and B vitamines, but without a net effect. Maybe it could be longer for some individuals, but I wonder if it's about the product (i buy it from samosata.).

Or, sorry, I must add that it worked for one of my ailments: calf cramp at night. The pain relieved quicker than with magnesium oil.
Anyways, I'd like to know more about this garlic smell. I know it's due to the sulfur but anything else?

Mine is 30% Aloe and 70% DMSO. It does irritate a bit but sustainable if applied just lightly.
I fell on my knee in the snow (ice underneath) two days ago while walking my dog. It was cold so therefore, I could continue my walk without trouble. Once home, my knee started to swell up and the pain was unbearable. I applied my brand three times on that knee with a cotton bandage. ( an old cotton towel that is no longer fit for use except bandages) The next day, I was able to put weight on it. Continued the same treatment on the second day. Despite the irritation (again, tolerable), my knee is now almost normal and I can walk just fine.
Have I used the cold and warm treatments that are suggested by MDs along with a brace or pressure bandages, it would have taken be at least 5 days to heal properly in order to get back to walking my dog. And the cost of all those suggestions/supplies is much higher than just DMSO.
So in my experience, it is great despite the irritation.
So glad of this thread. My only regret is not to have known about DMSO when I went through cancer and the whole caboodle of remedies they impose on us.
I am plagued permanently by lymph edema because my cancer was located under my right arm. Can't get my lymph nodes back, but at least I can treat my other ailments in a more sustainable way.
Why not? You could give it a try. I read some testimonies about bad internal scars with 70% dmso applyed on the skin, 2 ou 3x/d

In regards to the lack of smell, I've found this in the thread:
I bought 100ml pure DMSO (a colorless liquid) from the local pharmacy store for about 15 Euros. When I first opened the bottle it had no odor at all. I suspect that's because there is no water in it, so it cannot evaporate. Since it is a hygroscopic substance, it probably will attract water over time and then it might begin to smell. When I put it into the fridge, it freezes. The melting point is just below room temperature.

Also this from wikipedia:

Odor problem

DMSO disposed into sewers can cause odor problems in municipal effluents: waste water bacteria transform DMSO under hypoxic (anoxic) conditions into dimethyl sulfide (DMS) that has a strong disagreeable odor, similar to rotten cabbage.[55] However, chemically pure DMSO is odorless because of the lack of C-S-C (sulfide) and C-S-H (mercaptan) linkages. Deodorization of DMSO is achieved by removing the odorous impurities it contains
I wouldn't know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing though. I'm guessing good? A question for the experts. I just opened mine out of curiosity after reading your post (haven't started using it yet), and I also find it almost completely odorless (mine is from WoldoHealth, 99.9% purity).
