Freedom of expression, like all freedoms, comes with obligations, and in this case it is the obligation to consider the viewpoints and feelings of other participants in a respectful way. If you wander into the wrong bar and start throwing punches, you should not be surprised when the other people react negatively.

In this case, participants in this forum have a very diverse background and widely diversified points of view. If you listen carefully, you will learn *something* from every post. Sometimes you learn about the subject matter, sometimes it's about the poster and sometimes it's about yourself. This latter lesson is the most important and also the most difficult.

Interesting. So to you spiritual journey is all about getting the prize; your remark on who will get there first says it all, you're in it to beat the other guys so you can take your trophy home. Talk about spiritual ego...

He's accusing the forum of what he himself is doing in his post. He says don't label or judge and that's all he did. He says take heed of what others say and he did none of that. Funny how that works.

This is what I noticed as well. So my conclusion was that maybe his/her intentions seem to have some ulterior motive. And in this case Doom, the way you conducted your approach (contradictory) is more telling than anything else.

It may be this person was "triggered". A little punch from "the other side" ?

If this isn't a density of understanding, what makes you the expert on what STO is and "who is ahead"? Do you see how you're accusing others of something and never question whether your own accusations could apply to yourself? You don't question if your understanding is wrong, but you're quick to tell everyone else how wrong they are, and of course you know better than everyone, you're a self-ordained expert in spiritual evolution matters.

The bolded part in Doom's post is rather funny because he is the one who thinks he is 'ahead'!

Just as a bit of explanation to many of the newer members here who have not been exposed to and experienced someone like this who comes to the Forum to teach us the errors of our ways, those of us who have been here quite some time have seen lots of these types come, and usually, go pretty quick.

Some of them are probably paid trolls who come here specifically to disrupt everything but lots most likely are just very confused individuals who think they can come here and 'convert us' to whatever it is they think we should believe of their opinions and viewpoints, no matter how messed up and irrational they are.

We do our best to be cordial and communicate in a way that might help such individuals, but often it is to no avail. We also try our best to help these people, and everyone who comes here, by sharing what we see and understand. If they are not willing to learn and grow with us there is nothing we can do to help.

Those of you who might 'feel sorry' for the way someone like this is treated please keep in mind what I have said above. Many of these people are pretty good at evoking sympathy for themselves when they have been called out (even if it was done very gently) to try to get others involved in the conversations to bolster their cause.

We have also been warned by the C's that there are some who are looking to pull away some of the 'weaker' members using such tactics. If anyone here receives a private message from one of these characters, it would be best to not respond and notify a moderator immediately.

I know it's the mechanics of preview and prevention. It's necessary. But it sure is confusing at times.

I think that many of you handled Doomblahblah very well. You tried to make him/her make sense and understand some very basic ideas, but as happens very often, "the cup is too full". Later one, he/she comes up with this immature comment about who gets there first, which just goes to show how he/she does exactly what he/she "warned us" against: Flattering oneself. To me this person sounded rather like a teenager with airs of grandiosity.

I always find it sad when someone comes in here and tries to teach things that they themselves don't understand. It's about showing us in which way we are wrong, but then, when you "poke" them, it seems that they don't have anything better to propose. They seem to wish to have a certain amount of followers or something, and maybe they are jealous because we all get along in here and don't really like what they preach ;)? But if what they preach was so good, you'd think they'd have their own "school" by now and wouldn't want to come even near this forum. Yet, when you ask them, 99% of the time, they don't have anything of use to others going. Go figure!

He/she would have benefited from reading this post by Laura, I think.

We must be a funny "prison", LOL! I don't know of any jail that actually keeps the doors to the cells open, and when you misbehave, wants you out.

Where do people think Doom's attitude comes from? Do people think it's an attack on the forum? Is Doom a paid agent or psychopath? Or do people think Doom is legitimately concerned, but isn't expressing him/herself constructively?

But this is the world we live in. Thanks Chu for the post from Laura, I hadn't read that either. I'm one of the newer people here so appreciate the comments for the newbies. This forum has been up for many years as was mentioned and these types of exchanges have happened a lot we're told. I've been thinking about that today. How very difficult. You all must have learned a lot from it though and these things probably don't affect you to much at this point, (I assume).

You have an open door and anyone can walk in. All these struggles and battles and what happens on the forum is the least of it, it seems. The world is full of very confused, wounded and combative people its true. Its a very sad situation.

Laura, Your a beautiful and amazingly strong individual and I love you. What you share has made a very important contribution to my life and I greatly appreciate it.

This path clearly isn't for all but the ones its for. And I'll say we're happy to be here. Thanks!
