According to Wikipedia data, the year 2009 registered 2057 earthquakes, 79 earthquakes less than in 2010, 213 less than 2007 and 109 more earthquakes than in 2008.
Days before the aforementioned Venus Jupiter Neptune alignment of 2009 and on September 29, an earthquake M8.1 occurred in Samoa that left 192 dead and the next day a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Sumatra, Indonesia, killing 1,117 people
October was the month of 2009 that recorded the highest number of earthquakes between M6 - M6.9 with 32 events and 3 earthquakes between M7 - M7.9

I was searching Igor Kostelac, he has a yt channel called Against the Grain. He had a live streem yesterday. I haven't seen it yet.
I was searching something few months ago about earthquakes and found out there is a specific part of astrology called earthquake astrology. There are many pages where is explained with what aspects is bigger posibility of earthquake. I'll share this one for example.
Earthquakes and Astrology

When majority of planets come together at one side, their gravitational pull increases at that side. In addition to it, when Moon that is fast moving and has maximum pull due to nearness to Earth and causes tides, reaches in opposite direction, the gravitational equilibrium gets disturbed. A comparative study of most severe earthquakes that have occurred in the past has revealed that more than 90% quakes occur when Sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon and Mars were at one side or when Moon was situated in opposite side of Sun in Dark Half of month.
So we would need to look at yearly list of astrological aspects and see what matches. But I don't know, not an expert in any of the topics.
