WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT OCTOBER 07_2023
Very high levels of seismic activity were recorded in the last 24 hours. Five magnitude 6+ earthquakes shook the western Pacific Ocean, the western Hindu Kush region and one more shook southeastern Mexico. This is quite unusual.
On average ONE M6+ earthquake occurs every 3 days
How often do earthquakes happen?
This unusual activity can be seen in the following graph:
From October 3 to 7,
eight M6+ earthquakes were recorded as well as clusters of earthquakes in the Izu Islands, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan regions.
The earthquakes in Afghanistan were upgraded to M6.3. The image shows the seismic clustering that has occurred across the Hindu Kush. There may be some damage in Afghanistan and Nepal, but for the moment the world's attention is elsewhere.

A new seismic cluster is occurring in Papua New Guinea, influenced by two factors. On the one hand we have the movement of energy from the seismic activity in the region of Japan and on the other hand, the energy coming from the M6.1 earthquake in Vanuatu last September 28th.
