No aftershocks have been recorded so far. The earthquake was the strongest to hit this part of Indonesia in over 3 years. The strongest-ever (since 1900) recorded quake in this area measured magnitude 7.8. It occurred 108 years ago according to Volcanodiscovery data.

Seismic energy continues to manifest in Central and South America, even at the southern boundary of the Pacific plate.

For analyst Jesús Ramos, in a period of 36 to 48 hours, an earthquake of M6.1 and in the worst case M7.3 could shake somewhere in the center and southeast of Mexico, that is, the region between Colima, Michoacan, Guerrero and Chiapas, given the dynamics of earthquakes that have occurred in Central America and the Cocos plate.

For the analyst, the energy of the M7.4 earthquake in the Drake Passage has not been released with a significant earthquake, but has propagated in the Nazca plate and the South American plate as shown in the image. This is good news for Chile since the possibility of an M8+ earthquake decreases, however, the possibility of an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 in the worst case still persists. On the other hand, there is the possibility of a low M6 earthquake for Peru, Ecuador or Colombia.

With planetary geometries involving Mercury and Venus with planets such as Mars and Uranus, 4 major earthquakes have occurred. On May 15 will occur the critical planetary geometry Mercury, Sun, Mars and the lunar geometry: Moon, Earth, Jupiter. SSGEOS updated the forecast:
updated 14 May 2025, 21:55 UTC

A sequence of very critical planetary conjunctions from 15 to 19 May can result in very strong to major seismic activity with one or two earthquakes potentially in the high 6 to 7 magnitude range. A magnitude 8+ earthquake is possible.

According to Volcanodiscovery the earthquake was the strongest to hit this part of Turkey in over 17 years. The strongest-ever (since 1900) recorded quake in this area measured magnitude 7.6. It had occurred 81 years ago earlier.

Possibly the earthquake is a response to the M6.1 earthquake in Fry, Greece last May 13. Other related earthquakes would be M3.0 -8.7 km southeast of Avignon, France (RENASS) and M4.4 -2 km SW of Pozzuoli, Italy (USGS)

The forecast was accurate

For the analyst, the energy of the M7.4 earthquake in the Drake Passage has not been released with a significant earthquake, but has propagated in the Nazca plate and the South American plate as shown in the image. This is good news for Chile since the possibility of an M8+ earthquake decreases, however, the possibility of an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 in the worst case still persists. Did the M6.4 earthquake really happen in the Galapagos Islands region? No agency other than INETER (Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales) recorded it, for USGS there was no such earthquake.

The M6.4 earthquake was recorded, if it is the case, at the Nazca and Cocos plate boundary. This suggests that the alert for Mexico and Central America continues for a M7+ in the worst case.

So the conditions are in place. Let's hope that the M5.6 earthquake at northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge is the expected earthquake. It is possible that the energy of this M5.6 earthquake could move toward the Mediterranean region or toward Iceland with a minor M4+ or worst-case M5.0 earthquake.

From Brave AI reference to Wikipedia and USGS
Earthquakes occurring at a depth of 70 km are classified as the boundary between shallow-focus and intermediate-depth earthquakes. Shallow-focus earthquakes occur at a depth of less than 70 km, while intermediate-depth earthquakes are those with a focal depth between 70 km and 300 km.

In subduction zones, where older and colder oceanic crust sinks under another tectonic plate, deep-focus earthquakes may occur at much greater depths in the mantle, ranging from 300 km up to 700 km. However, the 70 km boundary marks a significant change in the type of seismic activity observed.

At depths around 70 km
, the conditions in the Earth's mantle can lead to different types of seismic behavior, and the transition from shallow to intermediate-depth earthquakes can provide important information about the physical processes and conditions within the Earth's crust and mantle.

The earthquakes in Peru and El Salvador indicate that energy continues to disperse throughout Central and South America. According to Jesús Ramos' analysis of the situation, we can still expect an earthquake of M5+ and in the worst case of M6.5 for the area of Michoacan, Guerrero and Oaxaca. While for Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and the north of South America (Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela) an earthquake of M5.8 in the worst case could occur. For Peru and northern Chile the forecast is for a M5.3 earthquake and in the worst case of up to M6.3. This alert would be in effect until May 26th.

The situation so far: On May 22 occurred two lunar peaks: Earth, Moon, Saturn & Earth, Moon, Neptune that coincided with the current seismic cluster.

2025-05-13-overview.png

Well, conditions still prevail for a significant event. Let's wait and see. SSGEOS expects something else with the aforementioned lunar peaks.

WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT MAY 25_2025

From May 13 to 23 there were 6 confirmed ≥M6.0 earthquakes and 1 earthquake of magnitude 6.4 only confirmed by the Nicaraguan seismic agency and that would have occurred in the Galapagos Archipelago. Another strong earthquake occurred in Papua New Guinea with M6.4. So, six or seven M6.0+ earthquakes is still relevant. As observed from March 21, 2025 onwards there have been periods with a number of earthquakes ≥M6.0 off average (the official average is 2.3 per week)

2025-05-13-overview.png

The earthquakes that occurred in Greece with M6.1 according to Frank Hoogerbeets, are indications of upcoming major seismic activity in the region (Eastern Mediterranean) These earthquakes are related to the collision of the African plate with the Eurasian plate.

We started a new observation period (May 24 to June 02) with a strong M6.0 earthquake in Tonga.

Earthquake forecast
updated 25 May 2025, 13:40 UTC
A convergence of two planetary conjunctions can result in stronger seismic activity, potentially reaching magnitude 6, possibly 7 around the 26th. USGS

According to the SSGEOS forecast there is a 70% probability for an event between M5.5 and M6.4 while for an earthquake ≥M7.0 and in the worst case up to magnitude 7.4 the probability is reduced to 50%.

From May 24-26 we have planetary and lunar geometries involving Mercury and Venus.

May 24: Mars, Mercury, Neptune
May 26: Earth, Mercury, Uranus (critical)
Mercury, Venus, Neptune (critical)
Venus, Mercury, Saturn
Earth, Moon, Uranus
