Details emerge about Greenland tsunami, and a new video
https://watchers.news/2017/06/21/greenland-landslide-tsunami-june-2017/
New details have emerged about the Greenland landslide that occurred in Karrat Fjord and the deadly tsunami it produced late Saturday (local time), June 17, 2017.

The tsunami hit the village of Nuugaatsiaq just after 23:00 local time on June 17 (01:00 UTC on June 18), sweeping away 11 houses and leaving 4 people dead and 9 injured, 2 of them seriously.

It was initially thought that the tsunami was created by a magnitude 4.0 earthquake with the epicenter 28 km (17.4 miles) north of the village of Nuugaatsiaq on the western coast of Greenland. However, reconnaissance flights performed by the Danish Joint Arctic Command on June 18 discovered a large landslide scar (approximately 300 x 1 100 m / 985 x 3 600 feet), thus confirming that the cause of the tsunami was a landslide.

Yellowstone earthquake swarm hits entire park, more than 60 on Friday alone

Earthquakes as big as 5.0 were recorded on USGS censors placed throughout the Yellowstone region

YELLOWSTONE REGION (INTELLIHUB) — U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) seismology reports conclude that a massive swarm of earthquakes swept through the park triggering more than 60 separate events in which seismographs spiked to magnitudes of up to 5.0. Friday.

Experts fear that the supervolcano is long overdue for an eruption capable of wiping out a vast amount of human, animal, and plant life in the Continental United States.

Scientists currently believe that there’s a 10% chance that a “supervolcanic Category 7 eruption” could take place this century, as pointed out by theoretical physicist Michio Kaku who appeared on a segment for Fox News.
yellowstone

The grey haired physicist told Shepard Smith that the “danger” we are now facing with the caldera is that it’s long overdue for an eruption which Kaku said could “rip the guts out of the USA.”

Kaku said that a “pocket of lava” located under the park has turned out to be twice as big as scientists originally thought.

Scientist concur that the last eruption of the caldera took place some 640,000 years ago.

The U.S. is currently under contract with at least 4 countries all of which have agreed to house displaced U.S. citizens in the unfortunate event the Yellowstone supervolcano were to erupt. Hundreds of billions of dollars were paid to foreign governments to facilitate the agreement which spans a ten year period from its signing, ending in 2024.

An excerpt from an article I authored in April of 2014 titled: “Report: Brazil, Argentina and Australia sign contracts worth hundreds of billions of dollars to house displaced U.S. populace when Yellowstone supervolcano erupts” reads:

The U.S. plan for relocation was formulated after a recent scientific analysis of the park revealed that Yellowstone’s supervolcano has the potential to violently erupt within the next 10-years as noted by others including the famous astrophysicist Michio Kaku.

In fact, Praag, a Pakistani publication, recently reported:

It may take up to ten years for pressure in the magma chamber of the super volcano to build. According to Dr. Jean-Philippe Perrillat of the National Centre for Scientific Research in Grenoble, France, “it is the difference in density between the molten magma in the caldera and the surrounding rock big enough for the magma from the chamber to the surface to increase “.

“The effect is the same as the extra buoyancy of a soccer ball under water fill with air, after which it rises to the surface because the surrounding water poet,” said dr. Perrillat. “If the magma volume is large enough, it should go to the surface to rise and explode like a champagne bottle that ontkurk be.”

According to Dr. Sipho Mathetwe, the South African government “sympathy for the American challenge (challenge) to Yellowstone, but we have our own challenges in South Africa. There are 200 million white people in America, and if too many of them to South Africa flights, it is a big problem, even though there is enough housing and infrastructure available. It will destabilize the country and may even bring back apartheid. South Africa is not for sale.”

However, according to the report, “Brazil, Argentina and Australia” jumped on the bandwagon, accepting the request from Washington.

The calm before the storm started a few weeks back when researchers noticed a downtick in seismic activity before Friday’s swarm struck.

Earthquake expert “dutchsinse” chimed on Yellowstone in a video posted to YouTube on June 15, one day before the swarm occurred, to warn of future activity in the region
So 10% risk of a major eruption this century according to scientist. If one considers that many people play lotto week after week with a certain belief that they are eventually going to hit the jackpot, despite the chances being less than 1 in a million, then what is stopping people from jumping ship now?

Some places have commented on how the US would fare and how a radius of 500-600 miles would be completely devastated. What none of the sites that I have looked, take into account is the nuclear power stations in the US and some are well within this 500miles zone, namely those in Utah and Colorado. If one looks at how badly a high tech first nation country such as Japan has struggled to cope with Fukushima, with all the surrounding infrastructure intact, then the mind boggles at how a traumatised US after such supervolcano eruption would cope with nuclear meltdown with no end in sight. Most of the US would most likely not be inhabitable for a while and the effects of radiation mixing with volcanic ash clouds tens of kilometers high and travelling around the world, would not bode well.
nuclear-power-plants-usa.gif

Of course, the last time Yellowstone erupted was 640000 years ago, and even if the average is every 600000 years, then there is a large margin and uncertainty factor and it might not blow before this planet is in 4D.

A few minutes ago I felt an earthquake while seating in the office at my workplace.
2 minutes later my son called me and said that he felt that his bed was shaking.

_https://www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/earthquake.php?id=602842

It was M5.0 with the epicentar near Ohrid Macedonia.
Last 2-3 weeks there were a lot of smaller earthquakes from that area.

Yesterday I and my family went to a one day picnic in Ohrid and we were seating on the beach there. My wife felt one earthquake there while she was seating on the ground. It was not so strong as this. Then, last night there was one M3.7.
This one was much bigger. Its 110 Km south from the place where I live , but we felt it very strong.
Still , no informations about any panic, or material damage in Ohrid.

Rare 5.8 earthquake strikes western Montana, the area's strongest temblor in at least 20 years

750x422

A rare magnitude 5.8 earthquake has struck western Montana, briefly plunging a town into darkness and powerful enough to knock down shelves and break glass, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Western Montana hasn’t seen an earthquake greater than magnitude 5 in the past 20 years, said USGS geophysicist Robert Sanders.

“It’s not impossible, but it is a very rare event,” Sanders said.

750x422

A map of the shaking intensity felt by people living in Montana, as reported to the U.S. Geological Survey's "Did You Feel It?" website. The strongest shaking was recorded at intensity level 8 closest to the epicenter, which people reported as "severe shaking." (USGS)

The earthquake was felt as far away as Spokane, Wash., Boise, Idaho, and Calgary in Canada, Sanders said. More than 10,000 people reported feeling the earthquake, with people closest to the epicenter reporting shaking as strong as intensity level 8 — capable of causing significant damage.

There were no immediate reports of severe damage, however, although locals will get a better sense of damage after daylight breaks, Sanders said.

The earthquake struck at 12:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time Thursday in Montana, and was followed by aftershocks in the magnitude 3 and 4 range over the next hour.

A National Weather Service office in Montana said it had received a report of a gas leak in Helena, the state capital, and things falling off walls in Great Falls. Helena was estimated to have a shaking of intensity level 4, or light shaking that can awaken people and cause dishes and windows to rattle, causing some to feel as if a heavy truck struck a building.

A 76-year-old resident of Helena, which is about 34 miles away from the quake’s epicenter, told the Associated Press the earthquake was the strongest seismic activity that he had ever felt.

Ray Anderson said his wife told him the temblor woke up the dogs.

The AP reported that electricity had been restored to the town of Lincoln, population 800, after suffering a power outage. Lincoln is about three miles away from the epicenter.

Thursday’s Montana earthquake is unrelated to an ongoing earthquake swarm northwest of Yellowstone Lake, Sanders said. The swarm has been going on for a little over two months, with the largest a magnitude 4.5. But most have been very small, recording in magnitude of 0.5 or 0.6, which are typical in places like Yellowstone every few years, Sanders said.

Yellowstone is home to an active volcano; it last produced a lava flow about 70,000 years ago.
